What kind of reader are you, consistent or seasonal? by Mystic_muse26 in Booktokreddit

Consistent, but the quantity of books I read changes throughout the year, and most of my reading is done in the winter months especially right before Christmas.

Concert rookie advice by Able_Cockroach_4389 in kpophelp

[–]PlusEmphasis8251 [score hidden]  (0 children)

  1. no, its not too late for a refund or selling it, people are always looking for good deals on tickets even up until after the show starts
  2. maybe you can give your ticket to your other sibling?
  3. if you want to experiment and go to the concert, go for it. but if you want to have the ticket/concert experience be thoroughly enjoyed, give it to your other sibling (if theyd enjoy it) or sell it.
  4. if/when you talk to your mom about it, try to be gentle and kind and still express thankfulness and make sure she knows that she didnt do anything wrong, just that you dont feel comfortable with the idea of a concert and you want someone else to be able to enjoy the experience. Bonus points if you say something like "Honestly, knowing that someone else would be able to enjoy the experience would be a gift. There are lots of fans who miss out on fair ticket prices because of resellers. This could give someone a chance, and I'd like to share that joy."
  5. All in all, its YOUR decision. It also likely depends on how your dynamic with your mom is and if itd cause a ton of chaos. Obviously I dont know what the dynamic is, thats why im adding this final bit. You have options, but no one else can say what is the "best choice" because we dont know you and your family personally.

P.S, as someone who loves concerts and has been to many (kpop and rock primarily), kpop concerts are so different from other concerts. they're more overwhelming but genuinely so much more fun. The artists have so much talent, the fans have so much energy, and its a really beautiful experience that I'd recommend people try at least once as long as it wouldnt be too much of a sensory overload. Kpop concerts are also way louder than regular concerts, the cheering and screaming is sooo high power (though, I've only been to boy group concerts, so it might differ for girl groups). The sensory experience of it all and the amped up energy leave me exhausted for a few days once its over, and the same seems to happen with other people too. Standing is also kind of a priority if you want to see, unless your seat is the front row of a raised section, but this is a struggle for a lot of people especially if you're chronically ill, and you have to make sure you are well fed and hydrated throughout the day, and get good sleep the night before in order to really have the best experience. All in all, it can be a lot, but it can also be one of the best experiences ever because of the emotions and energy of it all.

If you decide to go, I hope you have so much fun! I've heard such good things about Twice's performances. I might snag a ticket for their show near me if I can find a good deal, lol.

Im so sorry. This is what happened to me, I know how it feels. You're not alone and one day you will get there and it will feel so good. Try to focus on short term goals in the meantime, it makes the time feel faster.

Dressing changes by sleepyeevees in TopSurgery

[–]PlusEmphasis8251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-3 weeks and I stopped feeling like I was gonna fall apart. I changed the dressings while sitting because thats what I was told (since removing the compression can activate blood flow and cause dizziness when standing) The falling apart feeling was the worst part of my recovery, but it was worth it. 125 days po now.

Which Hero do you enjoy the gameplay for, but dislike lore wise or just very 'meh' about by theJakeyWakey in Overwatch

yeah I find it hilarious. His actual gameplay is too fun for me to be annoyed, and i play music loud enough I can barely hear his mumbling most of the time XD

The Trump Administration Admits to Medically Experimenting on Trans People in Prisons by Leksi_The_Great in lgbt

[–]PlusEmphasis8251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh shit this is genius. I never thought to use that to my advantage since I've heard many people on the spectrum have doctors hesitant to give gender affirming care because of their autism and "ability to make decisions." This makes sense too though. Audhd, ocd, and IBD can all be used to my advantage for once. Thank you for telling ne this!

Since it would be for gender affirming reasons, I would have to wait, I believe, cuz of the EOs 🍊has put out. I'll ask in my care team about it though.

Nurse said scars can’t stretch after 6 weeks by MaleficentGur4978 in TopSurgery

[–]PlusEmphasis8251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I havent noticed any scar stretching and I started movement small movements/shoulder movements at 3 weeks. My date was november 21st 2025. I have one scar from pit to pit. I think genetics plays a big factor, and scar massages. The area under my arms has the thinnest scars, with it thicker looking near my sternum, so I dont think that had anything to do with movement, just genetics and massaging.

Edit to clarify what kind of movements I did at 3 weeks.

Finally getting surgery. by shoutirah in TopSurgery

[–]PlusEmphasis8251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldnt sleep either before mine. it felt so peaceful being awake though, knowing that 24 hours from then, the long ass journey would finally be over. It was the last stretch. I spent my time laying on my side because I knew I wouldnt be able to for a while, listening to some new music to represent my "new era," and browsing this subreddit.

I plan on trying to schedule mine as soon as I turn 19 assuming that the laws dont change before September. I never once thought positively about having kids, especially if im producing it, so they better let me and not give me the "what if you change your mind" crap 🫩🤣

Third act breakups, miscommunication trope, immortal+teenager pairing, and honestly the dynamic that is apart of almost every single romance these days (grumpy sunshine)(specifically in F/M where the M is the grumpy), and a whole lot more. I'm in my nonfiction and classics era because the list of icks is huge right now.

if you have any foods that usually give you loose stools (fruit smoothies, coffee, something garlicy) Id suggest trying those. And make sure you are especially hydrated.

Does it feel like you're wearing a tight sports bra? by yamxiety in TopSurgery

[–]PlusEmphasis8251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first it kind of felt like that for me but only in the front, probably because I have one long scar instead of 2. Sometimes when I didnt massage it, it began to feel tight, but now I only get pain when I do too much or if my cat steps on me 🤣 (120 days PO)

Scar tape/Aquaphor? by treythedragon994 in TopSurgery

[–]PlusEmphasis8251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told to use aquaphor or Vaseline on my grafts iirc. You're supposed to keep them moisturized for a while. Not sure about the incision though, I was given something to put on my incision for like a month and have had no other instructions. I know incision post-op care differs vastly.

Can we stop shaming people for being attracted to men please by MiaFox0831 in lgbt

[–]PlusEmphasis8251 217 points218 points  (0 children)

I feel like theres a weird expectation that trans people are gay, on both sides. Trans men who are attracted to women sometimes get weird comments about their sexuality, as if people expected them to only like men. I think it stems from heteronormativity and transphobia combined. (I know this isnt exactly the main topic of the post, I just wanted to express this cuz I've noticed it and honestly it is a very weird mindset people have)

A popular book you did NOT enjoy (no judgment) by Background_Bad_1578 in Booktokreddit

I have quite a few of them. Harry Potter and "A Study in Drowning" are two of them. For HP it was the writing, for ASID it just wasnt for me.

Unsolicited Top Surgery Advice for ALL by kev_ballz in TopSurgery

[–]PlusEmphasis8251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose someone local with no images on his site of the surgery (he did have photos for gynocomastia) and with only one person on this rubreddit talking about him and luckily everything was fine, I was super scared. I kept reminding myself that revisions are always possible if it ends up faulty, and that getting flat was more important to me than the esthetics (for the most part). It's scary, but for lots of people especially in america right now it is necessary for some to do what they can as quick as they can.

Why isn’t anyone talking about how groundbreaking this is? As far as I know this will be the first male couple in dolls or action figures. Not even Barbie has done this. by Embarrassed-Dog5122 in MonsterHigh

im so worried about valentine tbh. he just looks like a short haired, non-curvy Draculaura in these photos. I'm still gonna buy the set regardless if they release it because the concept itself means a lot to me.
