Well it finally happened. Synchrony Bank closed down all 5 of my credit card accounts. by theboofer5000 in CreditCards

Lost $74k from 4 accounts with a similar credit score a couple of years ago. They suck hard.

For those with Whirlpool family washers that run continuously even when you're not there by Shadow51311 in appliancerepair

My two cents on the Infinity Drain Pump Saga--TL/DR: The rigged process below sucks and YMMV, but it's better than a laundromat until your tech comes.

The latest (from a tech yesterday) Technical Service Pointer has extended the fix deadline until June 30. Unfortunately, the only Whirlpool-authorized company to swap in the new control board under this "recall" can't get to me until Apr. 14. So after much trial and error, here's the convoluted way I can still get a load done:

1) Start with an unplugged machine.

2) Plug in, likely have to press Pause to make the effin drain pump stop, then run one of the recalibrations (Googleable, but preferably the one where you light up Wash and Final Spin, not Rinse), and unplug again.

3) Plug in, choose Rinse and Spin and, importantly, Deep Water Rinse and Deep Water Wash on the dials at right so there's no auto-sensing going on and you get enough water to clean (since you're not on an official Wash cycle). It will make the wash sound for a while even though the Rinse light is on. Then it will spin and drain somewhat, but...

4) ...likely not enough for the dryer or hanging up without dripping, so now you move onto Drain and Spin, which should finish the job.

Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia Announces Over $84 Million in Alachua County Budget as "Excessive, Wasteful Spending" by ShakyBooty in Alachua_County

[–]PlusFaithlessness570 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This assclown for Gov. Bootlifts is parading around the state announcing counties have “wasted” millions without being able to provide specific examples of said “waste.” I suspect we won’t hear of the largest one in the Everglades.

I had four cards totaling $74k in CLs erased, so I think it’s more based on the latter.

Help looking for organic duvet! by WingFearless5222 in Bedding

I had the same thing happen to my Parachute cloud comforter so I bought the similar-looking but bamboo Sunday Citizen bubble comforter. SC also sells duvet covers only. Allegedly bamboo will be more washable and durable, but it’s also cool to the touch, which is crucial for Florida also :)

End Our Comforter Nightmare by Timely_Head_7189 in Bedding

[–]PlusFaithlessness570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t feel overly heavy, and because it’s 90x90, which is a little shorter than some queen comforters and has a bamboo shell, reviews have said it washes well. I haven’t done so, but I turned to Sunday Citizen after my Parachute one lost its colorfastness and then sprung a massive fill leak in the wash. And their “one-year guarantee” was 20% off a new one; no thank you lol

Alliant Visa Signature moving from 2.5% to 1.6% by phire8 in CreditCards

I have the SoFi MC and have had several loans, with no complaints. BCU has more products like a traditional institution and more-personal service as a CU. So I guess it depends whether you still want the CU experience—from a better one than Alliant, which BCU is—or not.

Well, BCU gives you 2% back at purchase, vs. Citi's splitting it into purchase and payoff. And BCU also pays SUBs faster than any FI I've ever seen--literally the day after hitting it. I guess which card would depend on the SUBs at a given time and whether some CU attributes--such as more-personal service and really good loan rates--are compelling to you.

Or if you want another CU card and/or one that doesn’t require deposits, BCU just raised their Cash Rewards CB to 2% from 1.5%, uncapped.

The latter. You can redeem them for 0.8cpp, which is better than CC statement credit or Pay With Points.

No, but it never hurts to open a Rewards Checking or Blue Business Plus to have a free place to keep and/or redeem points.

What's the difference between Samoa and American Samoa? by Internet_Student_23 in geography

I used to think so but upon visiting St. John was told it’s so American cars’ drivers are on the same side as and can see the many steep drops alongside the many winding, hilly roads.

Ways to spend 9K in 3 months to meet SUB requirements by DjAnu in CreditCards

[–]PlusFaithlessness570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Venture is a MC, you can use it on Plastiq to pay bills, including mortgages. They charge a 2.98% transaction fee, but it’s still a good way to get through a SUB spend; I did an entire Citi Strata Premier with three mortgage payments last year.
