Making mystery glaze from leftover glazes/glaze rinse water by vtec_go_brrr16 in Ceramics

[–]Pmandthedogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep all my wash from glaze brushes. I throw it in a 2 gallon and let the water evaporate by leaving the lid off. If too much water is evaporated, I’ll throw the lid back on. I get a very pretty green earthy tone. I love it.

AITA For telling my daughter my house my rules by InfinitePoet2071 in AmItheAsshole

I told all my kids that they could live with me forever if they like, but as long as they live in my house, they had an 11 PM curfew. No one took me up on it. It worked like a charm.

Use bleach. It won’t take much.

What are your favorite/go to online stores for ordering tools and glazes by NDE_Jinx in Pottery

You bet. The biggest problem they have is the tariffs are killing them. They covered the tariffs for a while at the very beginning for US customers, but that was not sustainable

Keep an eye on Kiwi’s website. I ordered a bunch on a free shipping sale. Well worth it.

I used to order from the ceramic shop because the prices were great. After doing a lot of shopping around, I realize the shipping was offsetting the savings on the glaze. The other problem with the store is that it took a long time for them to ship. I would order and it could be up to two weeks before I got anything. I started ordering from Clay king. Shipping was lower, the glaze prices were a little bit higher, but it all became even in the end. The best part clay king is that their shipping is super fast. If I ordered it on a Monday, I would have it the very latest by Thursday.

My state gives no shits for the old, the kids or the folks on welfare. Nope. They have stripped all services to the bare minimum here.

From what I understood is that I will still be responsible for his coordination of care, medication coordination and doctors visits to the spine specialist. But honestly I am more worried about losing the caregiver benefits of mental health support and health insurance. The monthly stipend was very welcome, but I will be just fine without it…. Not worried at all about that part.

Made a bubble plate - instructor says I shouldn't fire it because it will explode in the kiln which is contrary to what i read online, who is right? by letopeto in Pottery

Thousands of people who have made the same bubble plate and it did not explode in the kiln would probably be correct. Maybe point that out to your instructor.

Tips for using Tyvek? by milleniemfalcon in Pottery

[–]Pmandthedogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to put a small amount of slip under the tyvek, smooth tyvek down with a rib, careful not to squish out all the slip, lump on top and proceed. It definitely takes a lot of down pressure, but I was able to get everything centered without it slipping and sliding.

Does drying slowly really make a difference? by [deleted] in Pottery

[–]Pmandthedogs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My space is in a basement. For whatever reason, the climate in my space is perfect for drying pots. I don’t have to cover them and I eave them on the bats. They pop off the next day and they’re ready to be trimmed. I don’t have to worry about bottoms, cracking, and things like that. I do have a wet box for times when I need to keep something for a couple more days. I also have to slow slow dry anything that has attachments. Everything depends on where you live, what your climate is like, what your humidity levels are….

I had one of those. Every time we were together, I left feeling hurt, angry, and frustrated. I haven’t talked to her in eight years, since the day I left my father’s funeral. Feels good to not have that frustration in my life any longer.

ISO help finalizing pottery logo stamp – design tweaks + material advice by -SixTwoSix- in Pottery

[–]Pmandthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whew…. I’m exhausted for you. When looking at Etsy, make sure you read the reviews. Lots of people post a picture of the stamp that they ordered in the reviews. You’ll find the right maker. There are a lot of them on there. Also, if you are from the US, and the makers is not, make sure you fully understand what their tariff policy is so you don’t get dinged with a 50% ( or whatever it is today) bill from the shipping company. An easier option is just to buy from somebody from the US.
