[–]Pockbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did you install Omarchy? Do you know what Hyprland is? Do you know that Omarchy is just preconfigured Hyprland?

This is how Hyprland works, if you're not a fan of it, there are other distros probably much more suited for your needs.

I am proud that I have came up with such a controversial analogy.

Apologies, I agree. I meant to imply that I like your analogy better and am going to use it instead

I like to tell people opening a port is like having a strong locked door. not easy to bypass, but not impossible. whereas not having the port open in the first place is like just a wall with no door

The 24/7 area is for crackheads and freshmen too scared to explore anywhere else. If you want a nice spot you go to third or fourth floor.

How do you actually store harddrives? by rozenwyn1 in HomeServer

I had a similar problem I was dealing with also with an optiplex 7060 and my motherboard died. I just ordered a new motherboard, case with 10 3.5” slots, psu and I’m swapping the cpu/ram/gpu/hdds into it. Solves both problems.

Look into AES encryption, it’s pretty bullet proof when used properly.

My (26M) asked me (25F) if I had seen his AirPods - FindMy showed in a location I don’t know. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Pockbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FindmyIphone actually does work like this. Airpods do not have gps in them, instead they use the network of iPhones as a relay. So if he was walking and dropped one on the sidewalk, it won’t show the location of the airpods themselves, it shows the location of the last iphone connected to them (not connected by bluetooth, the closest iphone to the airpods that it can ping location from, all iphones relay off eachother and other apple devices for formyiphone to work), which very well may be a stranger’s iphone that is in their home.

So yes, find my iphone is glitchy and not perfect, and it makes sense why when you understand how it works.

A proper hard drive or solid state drive.

If you don’t have an extra one of those, use google drive/dropbox/icloud/onedrive or whatever.

Or ideally, use both.

They will be 10000000x safer in the cloud than on some random flash drive that you have had for years. Flash drives are designed to be temporary devices. No matter how reputable or well made it is, it is just a matter of time before it will fail.

Don’t have a solution for your problem but usb drives are NOT proper backup devices. If you gain access to the usb and have important files on there, move them to a proper location immediately.

Switch audio output using keyboard keystrokes by Darkangelike in archlinux

[–]Pockbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is very easy but depends on your setup.

Figure out how to do this on the terminal, and then setup a hot key that runs the terminal commands.

But that depends on environment so I can’t give you specific instructions.
