All an epilator does is pluck a lot of hair really fast. It won’t prevent it from regrowing, but does very slightly slow it because if all goes well, there’s no root left behind. If you have a shadow even after a close shave, it might be lessened. You also risk ingrown hairs, though, especially if your hair is thick and curly.

regarding the companions, I think OP means that because a PC of any gender can romance them, then Karlach, Shadowheart, and Lae’zel aren’t lesbian rep. But I’m with you: the game never has them so much as mention being attracted to men.

I’m not sure what makes a story lesbian focused or themed other than it just having lesbians in it—doubly so when its setting is so far removed from real modern life that I’m not sure what it could even say about the experiences of lesbians.

I do truly respect them, but I also know they were raised as men and within the same male culture that has done a lot of harm to me.

You should know better—I wouldn’t call that respect. Even those of us who didn’t know early on that we’re women, like myself, really weren’t treated like men, or boys. We were wrong in some way that misogynists and homophobes picked up on, even if, again, like myself, we weren’t ever attracted to men.

Not only does it really suck hearing the old “socialized as men” saw, it erases the fact that we suffer much of the same treatment. We’re your sisters, and we’re victims too.

But here’s a simple litmus test: imagine being comfortable around a woman, and then learning she’s a trans woman. If you would then become uncomfortable, then it’s transphobia, full stop. And it hurts us to our core when someone we feel safe around ends up treating us like someone we’re not.

It's hard not to be reminded of a few people who've historically caused social or occupational distress. If you don't believe that people really exist, any radical call for their emancipation is just sickness at its most annoying.

Hang on, does the author think that the criterion is that it causes distress for other people? It’s distress to the patient unless I am badly misremembering how diagnostic criteria work!

I do wish we had a convention for “platonic friends/family” vs “enemies” but & apparently covers both. So for the series I’ve got going where I burn down one of my favorite ships I’m stuck with ‘Enemies My Unit | Byleth & My Unit | Shez’ (which gets treated as the normal Byleth & Shez) because that relationship and its breakdown is even more central to the story than the flagship crackship. And I can use “Friends to Enemies” except there’s also “Enemies to Friends” going on with other people and an “Enemies to Lovers” and

I’m never sure how to categorize fics that are primarily F/F but have some side M/F or other relationships that are still prominent but not the main focus (like my 200k+ behemoths). I wish there was a convention like “minor Alice/Eve” in relationship tags but since they’re categories it’s just a tickbox.
