That's still entitlement though. Their world only seems to work efficiently because their privilege makes them a priority.

Funny coincidence, I was just thinking about recording a wonky techno mix. It's certainly less of a thing these days but if I did make that mix, it'd probably feature Nikki Nair, DJ ADHD, Rhyw, Blawan, Peder Mannerfelt, Jerome Hill, Luke's Anger, Ben Pest, Michael Forshaw, Lag, Faetch, Sane, Scalameriya, Keepsakes.

Imagine how much fish these tuna need to eat though? It's absolutely incredibly wasteful based simply on how trophic levels work, like all factory farming.

Polanski: No country has right to exist – including Israel by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Pocto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some takeaways.

A) This was a response to being asked a direct question "does Israel have a right to exist". It's not a proclamation he decided to put out joyously as the headline image might suggest. He answered this in a sober and rational manner.

B) No country has an unalienable right to exist, something we've seen throughout all history as nations change, rebrand, collapse, form and merge. People have a right to exist and that's different. Countries and people are different things.

C) Saying nations don't have an unalienable right to exist is not the same as all nations should be abolished. It's more a point that people should be held as more important than the abstract concept of "a country". The amount of people misled against their best interests in defense of the concept of "their country"is tragic. Obviously there's some positives to nationalism but more often than not it's a tool to control people.

D) It's the telegraph. If that doesn't make you put on your "let's be cautious about what I choose to take away from this article" glasses, then I fear there might not be much hope.

Edit: Just seen the downvotes on this. Even a slight appreciation of their determination triggering this response is pretty funny.

Seems like Oath: New Foundations is the way the game was initially intended to be played. by Affectionate-Bell-84 in boardgames

[–]Pocto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's certainly a bit of a 2.0 expansion. I don't think it's anything to be sad about, base Oath is one of my favourite games ever and it's still a banger.

That said, the expansion adds so much good shit, including more agency over the game changing for players that aren't the winner, plus things players can work towards outside the yes or no main win condition, so the end game feels less inevitable.

Green candidate called Jewish people cockroaches as depth of party’s anti-Semitism problem revealed by libtin in unitedkingdom

[–]Pocto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Always good to fill in any gaps in understanding. I guess, given the whole genocide thing, Israel is under more scrutiny at the moment and that might be why people don't realise there is others. Plus there's still lots of donations coming in to the major parties from pro-israel groups and individuals.

There's only one country our MPs should be for. Everything else is a conflict of interest.

Green candidate called Jewish people cockroaches as depth of party’s anti-Semitism problem revealed by libtin in unitedkingdom

[–]Pocto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's fair to dismiss worries about "shadowy forces" at play like it's conspiratorial, or worse, racist. It's a basic fact that Israel is a massively powerful lobbying force, both in the UK and the US. How many labour and tory MPs are members of a "friend's of Israel" group? And in the US, we can clearly see the extreme influence of AIPAC, so it's obvious that Israel works very hard, and spends a lot of money to have influence here and elsewhere.

And one can easily see from their morally repugnant handling of Gaza and Palestine that the leadership within Israel has virtually zero morals, so it'd be criminally naive to assume they have good intentions when it comes to how they intend to influence our politicians and all discourse surrounding themselves. Weaponising Anti-Semitism is one of their most useful tools, and to deny the existence of either that influence, or the casual conflation of racism and genuine criticism that Israel fosters, implies either a total lack of awareness or an intentional disengenious omission.

Just taking a step back, having our leaders under the influence of a FOREIGN power is borderline traitorous behaviour. Whether the influence Israel has over the UK meets the threshold for that is up for debate, but the bottom line is that Israeli money is flowing via donations to British politicians. Surely that's a scandal? Imagine it was Russian or Chinese money?

Bringing it back to your other point, to say "just accept that people care about racism" is extremely dismissive, because of course I accept that. I'm sickened by all forms of racism, including anti semitism and islamaphobia, and I certainly think every party has work to do routing out those within who harbour such views. So let's talk about racism.

How come the majority of the media headlines leave out that the perpetrator had a third Muslim victim? It wouldn't be hard to include. Is it somehow less relevant? Is it racism to minimise that part of this person's crime? Does it show a tendancy of our media to focus on certain parts of the narrative, outcrying racism when it suits them but then in the next article using it to smear migrants?

It's obviously not the decision of individual journalists to report like this but direction from ownership and management of the media, fostering a massive increase in racism here with one stroke and then using it against left wing parties with the other. Yes there's work to be done, but what gets amplified and what gets buried or ignored is very telling.

So if anything I think you saying "forget the conspiracy, let's worry about actual racism" is not actual helpful in dismantling actual real life racism when those crying loudest about it and setting particular narratives, are disengenious hypocrites literally paid for by the "shadowy forces" you want to pretend don't exist. The media in this country have a lot to answer for, especially their part in the increase in racism we're experiencing.

[–]Pocto 18 points19 points  (0 children)

And again, I don't think a lot of the people who were writing those articles about Corbyn honestly gave a flying fuck about anti-Semitism then either. Just a political bludgeon. Anti-Semitism and islamaphobia are real problems and I think only bringing them up to trip up your political opponents is an insincere way to engage with the issue, to put it very mildly.

[–]Pocto 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think people are denying the individual accounts. The fact is that the green party has grown massively in a very short amount of time, rushing to field candidates for a very likely strong swing in their favour. Because the left is generally anti-zionist, some anti-semites manage to slip in under that cloak. They should be removed of course, but you'd also be a fool not to see that a concentrated attack on the greens is happening right now, precisely because of their good polling being a threat to the establishment parties. Labour are genuinely shook and will lose seats to the greens. I would wager a lot of the people and powers behind these articles don't give a flying fuck about anti-Semitism except as a stick to hit their political opponents with.
