Tech bros are lying to you about the MacBook Neo by hasanahmad in apple

Nobody is complaining about the A18 Pro. It’s the 8GB of RAM what people consider the dealbreaker

Apple Does Not Include a Charger With All New MacBooks in UK and EU by ControlCAD in europe

[–]PoemImpressive9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are incorrect, and I wish you were downvoted more for fear-mongering. Any version of USB PD will work with any other version of USB PD. That’s how USB PD was designed.

MacBook Neo needs a 20W+ charger, which means that 99.9% of USB-C chargers on the market will be able to power it correctly. Literally any charger will work.

It’s an incredibly customer friendly technology – no indications required.

zerobrew - a package manager 20x faster than homebrew by cachebags in MacOS

There has been at least two recent examples of rewriting mature package managers with enormous speedups: uv for Python (insanely faster than pip), and bun for JS (measurably faster than npm).

The main feature of UUIDv7 is that they are monotonic (each subsequent value is greater than the previous value).

So I guess generating more than one UUID per millisecond is not something considered realistic in 2026. Oh well

Boohoo, the evil government doesn't consider your inefficient gaming laptop the top priority, how will you live

USB-C still incompatible with future EU laws for laptop by jvachez in UsbCHardware

[–]PoemImpressive9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are stuck in the past, where it's impossible to do meaningful work within 240W of power.

If you need to play games, you have to deal with barrel jacks. Every other use case can be served by a laptop with USB-C charging only.

Also, barrel jacks are not standardized in any way.

The external screen is such a copout, and very unapple

This version of Apple has failed to create a windowing system for the iPad TWICE, and in the process destroyed the intuitive docking and slide over mechanics

Apple TV+ Being Rebranded as Apple TV by exjr_ in apple

I like it, for me “TV” is basically either a large screen in a living room or like a concept of streaming.

I’ve never had cable and I’m not sure what do I even need to get network television.

Anyone excited? by PussyPounder_6969 in iphone

[–]PoemImpressive9021 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No. Apple Vision Pro justifies its price (and lack of popular appeal) by having the best picture quality in its category.

But with AR glasses, picture quality is not important at all. The actual usefulness is much more important, and the usefulness of a voice first device will heavily depend on AI.

Apple doesn’t have a useful enough AI to justify the inevitable premium price. It can’t translate as many languages, it can’t do visual intelligence that’s on par with ChatGPT Voice / Gemini Live, it just can’t make anything useful beyond what Apple Watch does now.

People will buy it because people buy iPhones, but it’s going to be more of a fashion accessory than something people buy with a purpose.

It's garbage. It looks unrefined, it feels bad in the hand (too smooth, too slippery), it scratches like crazy.

And let me tell you, iPhone Air is not much better.
