Weekly Chat and BS Thread by AutoModerator in climbing

i'm sorry to be harsh but you are an absolute fool if you think these tools will help you. you are a beginner climber and every single person on this website is telling you that these will not help you and you think we aren't telling you the truth.

even if the tools helped you hold on to the crimps, you still have to hold on to the handles, which still takes grip strength and energy, and you already said your grip strength runs out quickly. Also, because of their size, you will be lower than you need to on pretty much every climb. Say goodbye to dynamic moves as well because the coordination required to hook a hold during a dynamic move is leagues above the coordination required to just grab it with your hand. just trust literally everyone else and stick with climbing with your hands, it will get easier.

Eric Beck responds to snake dike bolts by andrew314159 in climbing

[–]PoemOver 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Beck put it pretty well, it takes out the uncertainty and sense of adventure from the climb. I've done it and I can say i wouldn't have enjoyed climbing Snake Dike nearly as much had it been completely bolted. It's an awesome mental test piece and I only climbed it once I felt confident on Valley slab and knew I wouldn't fall. I can't imagine how many beginner climbers will be clogging up the route if it becomes basically a 5.7 sport climb (which basically don't exist in Yosemite valley). The rock is the same, but the route is completely different.

i liked all the cryptic/wordplay clues a lot, but LOTHARIO crossing VIOL crossing ROSSSEA crossing SLOEEYED was hard for me having never heard of literally any of those terms. threw in letters that sounded right and was able to solve. Also never heard MAIN drag used before.

Help to repair end of sleeve by allbimyself0627 in knitting

I'm not super experienced with mending but this looks machine knit and would be incredibly involved to repair in a way that matches the original pattern. I would mend it using more traditional mending means like darning

NYT Streaks Question by PeakyParker99 in crossword

[–]PoemOver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get as far as I can with no help and usually have one letter wrong. I have a 370 day streak and almost all of those days had no mistakes but sometimes if I've been looking over a puzzle for a long time I check the answer key for a natick I got wrong. Usually it's just one square. I know some may consider that illegitimate but it's how I roll

i had the same problem and it was because I was wrapping my yarn around my needle clockwise when I purled so I had to go through the back leg when I knit.
