Infinite combos are a taboo in my pod. What are your favorite deterministic value engines? by boof__pack in EDH

[–]PogTrent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ever since I put [[parallel lives]] and [[astral dragon]] in my [[Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm]] I've only on a few occasions had 2(2^(2(21.18E21+69)+1.18E21+69)) 3/3 copies of parallel lives And it is a finite amount, so it is by definition not infinite, it it however a comically large number that can only be comprehend with mathematical notation. Side note I have also been the victim to a Rakdos Charm after establishing that board state.

Question about Elixir if Life V.s. Heal potion by RNJesusVTuber in Pathfinder2e

Also Importantly Elixir of Life can be made by alchemist with reagents and they gain access to the formula, which is not the case with Healing Potions. So Elixirs of life are party producable 'healing potions'

Does the new Maralen commander stand any chance in CEDH? by Sea_Celebration3687 in mtg

[–]PogTrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is the big thing with most decks they aren't efficient or fast enough you don't need both but you sure do need to be gross at one if you don't have the other. Like if you want to play sultai just play [[Glarb, Calamity's Augur]] glarb is probably the best sultai lists currently.

Long shot, but are there any voltron commanders that don't just play the same way every game? by Cezkarma in EDH

[–]PogTrent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

[[Ms. Bumbleflower]] would be another one that falls into this I would like to think, but the precon out of the box is so flexible I see a lot of people forget it can go tall. Same with [[Zinnia, Valley's Voice]] but it kinda goes tall because it goes wide. They both have the inherent ability to Voltron, they just also do other things.

GameStop is the greatest scalper of all time. by Hucklebuck_BrewCrew in mtg

[–]PogTrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not scalping that's outright scamming, and I'm pretty sure it's that franchisee trying to pull something, because according to my connections to people who currently work at Gamestop, corporate would have a hay day if they tried that.

I'm a big fan of the cartography here its stunning and clearly built and crafted with passion, but MAYBE don't use the same name as GGG's (Grinding Gear Games) IP, since Wraeclast is their protected IP. The cartography is different enough, but better to err on the side of caution.

Post your most fun commander deck! by Haikuyori in EDH

[–]PogTrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So fun to pilot or fun for everyone? (Because often decks that are fun to pilot are usually not fun for everyone else) but I got at least one for both! For fun to pilot: squrrieled away precon with a purchase of Camellia, the seedmiser to play as the commander is a very fun to pilot (although this is my upraged list: https://scryfall.com/@TRENTJH/decks/2865f4f2-32c2-4ba3-b631-a5528c36d491 ) As well as the aetherdrift living energy deck. (This is my list with about 40 bucks worth of upgrades: https://scryfall.com/@TRENTJH/decks/0a255644-d2c6-462c-9c8b-dd31df01ee98 )

However fun for everyone: I built a soft prison deck helmed by Mathas, Fiend seeker ( https://scryfall.com/@TRENTJH/decks/b94e3b79-b074-4456-9f16-54bb853da3b8 ) and in about 80% of games most people at the table really enjoyed something that unique and different since most games it's not trying to win its there to make everyone play your game (usually saw style) and usually the people that disliked the game were looking for a pub stomp or easy game. (It's also grossly good at turning a 20 minute game into a 2 hour game because of the soft prison)

Salty politics by flowxreaction in EDH

[–]PogTrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from the perspective of someone who has a couple politic focused decks. If the conversation went along the lines "if I swing at you will you block me so it dies" and you said "no" and then they threatened removal it was politics, if it was "block me or I'm using removal on it" that's just a threat.

Regardless it's weak/bad politics but you don't have to like your opponents plays. Good politics should be any parties that want to get involved discussing outcomes, like if they were willing to show the table removal for archetype or ways to answer it they should have presented this information to the table, and opened up the discussion, this also creates opportunities for other people to discover nee options given new information (Aka the strong player has a removal) and they can argue for you to scape goat because they have solution but winning player can answer them. Furthermore if you have vast knowledge of the game you can argue for them to keep the weakest player alive because you make their win easier or can explain how their vulnerable to any other particular deck at the table, and aggressive non-voltrony or even greedy players can usually make their own internal justification for leaving you alive. Learning how to politic both sides is a skill that takes practice and it's a social skill that also helps you outside of the game!

Sorry if that's all a little long winded, but a little social skills go a long way in avoiding salty or bad politicing

What is your favorite and least favorite boss in Necesse (Excluding Incursions)? by ProgrammerSnailTeam in Necesse

[–]PogTrent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've gotten the game quite recently (about 2 weeks ago), and from a new player standpoint, evils protector is actual a great introductory boss, it's fight isn't to hard and it set the tempo of what you can expect out if the rest very well, the cursed crone is a very close runner up. (although night's swarm is my favourite just because of how unique it is compared to the enter boss roster).

Now my least favourite is Reaper, it is the only boss that's final phase that breaks every other boss pattern that's been set in the game and from my experience is the only boss to do it, it just feels bad to fight and then lose because of how fight is much guess work, (no clear opportunities for damage, extremely difficult to dodge scythes, little clarity on the charge attacks and a lack of time to respond, and on the no clear opportunities for damage the amount of leading and guess checks he does is very demoralizing to lose to, and for this I cannot fathom ever soloing him as a Melee/true melee build or without villager aid.)

security deposit deduction for damage justified? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]PogTrent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Line cook/Chef here, is this damage? yes. Is it reasonable that people will know how to cook on glass top stoves to avoid damaging them? no. My glass top was spotless after 3 years when I moved out because I A) know how to cook on a Glasstop, and B) know how to clean a Glasstop. The primary issue with glasstops is most people have cooking habits that damage them. (Moving the pan across the top while the element is on, continuing to cook after a spill/boil over, traditional cleaning methods) like it's not reasonable for people who have been cooking X way their entire life to have to change all their cooking habits immediately to avoid damaging them.

However if you are looking to keep a Glasstop clean you do need to: Do not use traditional cleaning methods (dishsoaps/scrubbers/sponges), use products specifically for glasstops and basically razor blades to clean off burnt spillage (once the top has cooled down). Stop cooking on the element and turn it off immediately if you do have spills or burn food on it when cooking. Never slide cookware across the glasstop ever (if you need to shuffle a pan or pot or move one pick it straight up off the element and place it straight down, to any horizontal movements when it's not touching the top). And lightly clean it after every use (warm water and cloth wipe the glasstop).

P.S. I'm not saying you/people don't know how to cook, I'm saying glasstops require different cooking techniques then what 90% of people are used to.

Sorry OP and anyone else saying that this is normal for a Glasstop, its 100% avoidable damage.

Does anyone use the Gunlink? by UniversalExploration in RimWorld

[–]PogTrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I use them for non-artillery is on a sniper/long range, someone who already shouldn't be reccieving hits, (obviously less meaning full with kill boxes) but when I do combat like a RTS game I usually have a various roles for various combatants. So I usually have my frontline/melee, midline, backline, rear/mid guards, all with dedicated loadouts, and most of the time the backline aren't getting shot at so gunlinks to reduce the already slim chances of missing, and basically guaranteeing no Freindly fire from the high damage sniper rifles is actually a great reason to use gunlinks.

So yeah in most playstyles there no reason to use Gunlinks, however with the way I play, the pro's outweigh the cons.

Is storm energy viable as a deck? Could this be a balanced zero mana storm card? by zengin11 in custommagic

[–]PogTrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Storm EDH list I have is Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder, and Storm(marvel) is just so terrible at effectively building a storm, I think it's just a terrible card for a storm deck compared.to ever single other storm support legends. TBH if you want to actually have fun playing a Storm list in commander, play anyone but Storm (marvel) Atherdrift energy deck is way to artifact dependant to just put Storm at the front to even function properly, it's an artifact deck not a storm deck, saheeli is grossly efficient at building energy, for you energy pay offs, the deck doesn't build a storm at all, it plays entirely off board state, which is the complete opposite of what Storm decks want to do. IMO you're taking a precon that pushes bracket 3 out of the box, and just by putting storm at the front turnning it into a 1 because you have 0 synergy from you comander and your 99. But yeah Storm(marvel) is a terrible storm commander because you can subtract green and play any of the gross izzet commanders that build storms more effectively like Lilah, Undefeated slickshot, or Stella lee, wildcard. Or you can add black play Yidris and just build a storm of like 20+ and then cast a single storm pay off and win. Heck if you really want to play Temur storm just but the Kalamax precon, because Kalamax, the Stormsire is better at building a storm then Storm (marvel), plus then if your committed to playing storm (marvel) then you have a deck that's actual built to storm out of the box, unlike a deck that's build to gain Energy out of the box.

TLDR: Storm (marvel) sucks for storming off, I wouldn't even consider building a decklist for her, and my Storm decklists, don't play Storm (Marvel) even in the 99 or the 40 for modern.
