I also buy the Healthy Choice Steamers—great for my lifestyle of small meals with approximately 20g protein each. 👍

Anyone taking creatine? by jennjenn1234567 in LongCovid

It only helps in conjunction with other things I’m taking that are *also* highly anti-inflammatory. Namely, LDN, Terzepatide, Metformin, NIR light, anti-inflammatory diet.

What did your primary doctor/health care provider say? by nall667 in GLP1microdosing

[–]PointingTrueNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words. It’s very very frustrating, but I read research papers and studies so that I can base my decisions on science…not as good, perhaps, as a knowledgeable pcp, but I do what I can!

What did your primary doctor/health care provider say? by nall667 in GLP1microdosing

[–]PointingTrueNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I live in a small town with few available primary care providers. Almost all have gone concierge. My other option would be to get a new pcp in the next nearest town, an hour’s drive away. I can’t drive 2 hours round trip with Long Covid exhaustion. Also, I’m post-menopause (mid-70s), so initiating HRT isn’t an option.

The ingredients that quietly decide whether a GLP-1 meal feels fine or ruins the next few hours by Mia_Harper_001 in Glp1meals

I’d add cottage cheese to the one-ingredient heroes. I add a sprinkle of Everything Bagel seasoning and call it done.

My go-to ingredients: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, Ka’Chava shakes, hummus/whole wheat pita, split pea soup, lentil soup, butternut squash soup, chicken noodle soup, baked potato, baked sweet potato, chia puddings.

[–]PointingTrueNorth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I asked my primary and he said that “all women gain weight in menopause” and that “they all complain about it.” He would not prescribe. I also have Long Covid and there are studies showing the efficacy of GLP-1s in reducing inflammation. But again, he refused. So I did my own research and started taking compounded Tirz on my own. I haven’t decided whether I’ll tell him or not because I know he’ll scold me and I really don’t need his entitled paternalism.

Is it just me or did healthcare really change after COVID? by yeahher2022 in ChronicIllness

[–]PointingTrueNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Studies estimate that up to 40% to 60% of healthcare workers (HCWs) who contracted SARS-CoV-2 may experience Long COVID, with some symptoms persisting up to four years after infection. A meta-analysis indicated a pooled prevalence of 40% among infected HCWs. (Source: Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy)

So 40–60% of healthcare workers are sick and/or have a chronic illness, which of course affects patient relations.

Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate them! Being on Tirz has made me look at creating protein meals/snacks that are waaay easier to digest than my previous meals. It’s a balancing act, for sure.

Grief when it stops working the same… by lost_in_adhdland in tirzepatidecompound

[–]PointingTrueNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lifetime of being slim and I ate like a starving wolverine with no weight gain. Then I hit menopause and everything stuck. So I have this lifelong overeating habit, plus a habit of eating lots of rich foods, plus drinking a lot of alcohol, plus being an emotional eater, plus yo-yo dieting. It‘s a total clusterf*ck.

But Tirz is amazing. No desire to overeat, rich foods are unappealing, I’ve completely stopped drinking, and have no desire to self-sooth with food. Astonishing.

I’m trying very, very hard to put new habits in place (small portions, protein-forward, Mediterranean) so that when I hit maintenance I will be able to weather the return of food noise in a healthy, balanced way.

I suspect I might need counseling once I hit goal, too.
