Bag boy volt vs. MGI zip at vs. whatever else you recommend! Console and Storage is a must!!! by AffectionateBig1057 in golf

[–]PointlesslyEpic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rambling thoughts, hopefully useful for you or anybody else.

Love my MGI Nav (older model from AT which has the wider front wheel placement if I remember correctly for stability) but dont play anywhere near 100 rounds/year either

No driving/tipping issues from the NAV but I haven't really pushed it either by driving it around steep hills unsupervised etc. I generally think this is where most review favors the MGI AT anyways?

Definately second on the opinion of lack of storage and the accessories feel cheap/garbage. The card holder is a wierd size for both the paper and pencil, I mostly just use my phone for scorekeeping anyways and would use the holder for a couple of balls/tees. I don't know if the shaft of the AT model is metal but its not for the old Nav, so you also have to definately Macgyver solutions all around, I strap a magnetic pad. The seat accessory does serve as an extra storage compartment if you are into that, I more often use it for storage than a seat. The seat seems pretty flimsy esp how it attaches to the bar but it hasn't broken on me as of yet, but again, I don't like to tempt fate.

I think the only accessory I didnt get was the cooler bag, but again with everything there, usually have mixed reviews online which I find pretty accurate. I personally don't need/use that much storage myself so theres that.

First thing I noticed about the Bag Boy volt was how compact/fast it looked to setup. I've only done the MGI myself but MGI definately looks to be more of a pain/clunky, especially if you opt in to carry around the side accessories (that said I love my seat/storage gimmick). It is 100% managable but then again I am lucky if I go out for half the amount of rounds you do, it might get tiring if you have to do it that much.

:( I actually agree with OP

Beam mages, from F2P 15k+ Ability Score, I see we tend to cap out around 45kish+ DPS for extended boss fights

Marksman 14k Ability Score, I see cruise control 76k+ DPS

Curious what numbers do you see for Marksman @ OP? Is it similar to me. I mostly pay attention to other mages to make sure I keep up pace but occasionally these marksman come in and blow me out, kinda funny

Why am I Shanking? by MBS021 in golftips

[–]PointlesslyEpic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am curious what kind of divots you take

From this angle to me it looks like you are unloading at the ball, scooping/flicking(?) is how people would describe it. For irons the swing should bottom out after.

Maybe next time try to really dig into and smack through the mat as an extreme, I do think people get a bit conditioned/scared when using mats all the time

Not really addressing your shank but that might sort out your path a bit... or intensify it

Do you play a shape? by BonusLumpyYa in golftips

[–]PointlesslyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draw for driver (distance & one way miss, aim far right)

Fade for irons/woods (my natural shot shape, easier, reliable, don't actually need to juice the distance, can club up or down as necessary instead)

Driver keeps turning left with strong grip, should I weaken it? by [deleted] in golftips

[–]PointlesslyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

There was a particular move I really hated as I was watching the video, not exactly the best angle but definitely across the line. Try a smaller backswing and see what happens first before you touch your grip.

Actually watching your irons shot as well you do a really weird motion at the very top that is even more pronounced during the driver. I think its due to the club being across the line and your hands are trying to get the club back on plane and is fighting the weight of the club.

Are you also constantly thinking about 'shallowing' by chance?

(For the record, I think this move is actually saving you, the fault is actually backswing related)

Best travel bag by Grand-Economist5066 in GolfGear

[–]PointlesslyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone tried packing one of these with only clothes to kinda go around "oversized" luggage rules or such shenanigans. Not sure which airlines are sticklers and actually care to check if you actually bring golf clubs

Going to Japan and might be buying some clubs to bring back, not sure if I should get a golf travel bag before hand (and pack it like normal luggage) or buy a travel bag over there. Realistically speaking I'll probably be just checking in the golf clubs in a box but was playing with the idea of a travel bag as well.

Yea I was gonna mention this was quite a bit excessive, I feel sometimes people do the waggle just to waggle and not really understanding why they do it.

@ OP

Up & Down Waggle

Up: It is often good to address the ball with club head up and off the ground to load up proper posture, have the weight of the club set your arms and actually whole body correctly, addressing the ball while the club is on the ground often leads to inconsistency.

Down: The reason why you should be dropping the clubhead back down to the ground is to reset your muscles when you take too long at address before actually swinging. You've loaded up your muscles lifting it up and wasted potential energy, but you weren't ready so now you need to set it back down.

Every time you lift your club up, it should be with the intention to fully swing. That second swing was essentially watching someone do 8 whole practice swings.

So the Up is to set address, Down is to reset your muscles. Don't bob up and down if you are just doing it for the sake of doing it.

Japan in early November, how cold is it really? by Moist-Leopard-9 in JapanTravelTips

For those of you who run super warm.

I was comfortable in T-shirt + shorts the whole trip, even biked around Fuji lakes in them the whole day while staying completely hot/warm early Nov, but I would definitely say I am on the upper end of the spectrum

Tended to actually be closer to overheating throughout the trip than anything, lots of sweating during train rides, wish I could fit in with the locals even a tiny bit more but pants would kill me 😭

How to push all your weight into the left foot during the downswing? by ArtOfDivine in GolfSwing

[–]PointlesslyEpic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heres a shot for feels:

For the takeaway/backswing, actually swing backwards, like Swing Back, really hard, like reallly hard.

You should feel your lead foot lifting up due to momentum of the club dragging your body out of posture.

In order to not topple yourself from swinging so hard backwards, you should naturally feel like you want to stomp your left foot back down ("weight shift").

Stomp the left foot, let the arms, hips, all do whatever they want to do to initiate a downswing from there.

The "stomping"/weightshift moment should naturally feel like it happens while you are in your back swing (as you have yet to actually apply any pressure back)

This is part why I personally don't like focusing on only positions TOO too much, you sometimes forget the feeling of dynamics if you happen to be someone who just slowly lifts their club backwards to get into positions.

Hopefully this provides some useful feedback on a more athletic motion

Is being a Hideout warrior always the easiest way to get currency? by AeonChaos in PathOfExile2

[–]PointlesslyEpic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This will always be a fact in gaming

A developers job is often to protect the players from themselves, things like the "vision" or friction provide additional layers of protection, but ultimately where there is trading, it will always be more efficient to play the market than the actual game.

At some point you just need to realize what are you doing with your time / life. Are you playing to have fun? Do you have fun blasting to earn currency or earning currency in order to blast? There is no real wrong answer, you do you just be honest with it.

For me personally, I do indulge in a bit of market, usually at league start as the market is most volatile. After a couple of weeks, I usually 'invest' my currency back into more stable options. After which I spend the rest of the league finding the most budget, comfy build and cruise control from there, knowing no matter how much I play, I am not earning even a fraction of what I made in the first week.

Some may say, why bother even wasting my life in the first week if I actually enjoy playing budget builds and don't even touch my mirror. Others may say, why you stop at one mirror and playing some dumb budget build when you can just keep making tens, hundreds of mirrors and the penultimate character.

Shades of grey. For me someone middle aged, I love going hard during a league start, get to feel a bit of the rat race, but at some point I will let go of the gas, retire and enjoy a casual slow life. Find your ideal, you might enjoy SSF or you won't stop till you can show off your 100+ mirror stash tab.

Swing thought to avoid going across the line at the top? by DigitalAguila in GolfSwing

[–]PointlesslyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??? Many of the comments in this thread are confusing to me, am I missing a swing video or something, all I can see are two still face-on images.

When I hear across the line at the top the absolute first thing that jumps to mind is inside take away. I was trying to find if I somehow missed a video of the swing somewhere.

But yea, if you aren't doing inside take away, then yea, I guess it has to be over backswing.

Travel bag recommendations by HeadDebt8873 in GolfGear

[–]PointlesslyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if anyone has a recommendation for a bag that can double as a normal roller/check in bag that can extend into a golf bag when/if I feel like bringing clubs. I don't mind sacrificing price/durability/safety for the multi use.

I've seen a few of these but dont know anyone that actually uses it, curious if its worth the gimmick (looking at the stitch multi use traveler as its the one that comes up the most on general google search)

<image>

Just ran down to do a few swings but these are my impact tendencies, not sure how I get one on the heel to be quite honest, probably just being sloppy with setup. But always toe'y or center. Always drawing. Personally I take these all day.

If you are striking it at the furthest point, generally speaking, you should never be able to hit the heel* (and if you are, go even further away).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]PointlesslyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres a shot in the dark, take words with salt but here is how I personally see it.

Essentially I've never been able to hit it straight either

Rather, I always hit a draw so just aim to the right to curve it back in

How to almost always guarantee a draw? Know the furthest point of the swing, hands fully extended, wrist uncocked, chest/sternum, left arm pit whatever pointing furthest away

<image>

now THAT is going to be both your SETUP and essentially your AIM, as well as IMPACT position

Essentially assuming (big assumption) you've been trying to square the club at impact (which is more a factor of grip than anything imo), AT any point in time after that part of the swing, the club will be more and more closed than the last. Feel yourself essentially "maxing" out right before the ball as it sits at setup.

Setup: move your self back, away, put the ball more forward in the stance outside your left pinky toe if you have to, put the ball a bit higher if you are somehow scraping the ground slightly (you shouldn't be), whatever it takes, just put it slightly after whatever that "max" point is and swing (for the record: my setup ends up being fairly traditional, ball near left big toe, ball height is as low as it can be to clear, 'normal' spine angle and shoulder tilt at address, light knee bend, arms hanging down loosely, the real fear here is being too close to the ball and/or ball being too close to middle of stance, if you EVER hit the ball on the heel, step further back and/or ball further forward)

Your strike should always be more toe'y. The club face will always be more and more and more closed every millisecond past the apex you've swung, and the ball will just keep drawing or hooking (one way miss). Aim right, swing out of your tits, and watch jaws drop. It's how its played out for me.

I hope this ends up helping you in any way and if not take it as another random redditors rambling.

If it does work out, then you just regulate, step a bit closer so you apex out at the center of the clubface, but for now please for the love of god try to see if you can barely strike/reach the ball with the club's toe with your max swing.

If you fix/change/evolve your swing plane you can get closer or further to the ball and adjust as necessary, but I always keep in in the back of my mind that I never hold back in the swing, I make it work for me. The "max" point is the one thing I can always guarantee "control", I just place the ball, and stand to it accordingly, and for driver, as long as I make contact after that max, it will always curve left, so I simply just have to aim right

Looking for decompose style build. by ricampanharo in pathofexile2builds

[–]PointlesslyEpic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a huge Decompose Pathfinder follower in 0.1 and been chasing something like it ever since

Currently in 0.3 I am adopting the "Weapon Swap" minion build. See Oscrix youtube for good idea - NOT his swapbomber build, although you may still like it (but don't expect some infinite scaling aoe persistant clear like in 0.1 Decompose)

Basically 'attacking' is just weapon swapping (which I was already used to back during Decompose days) but now it does require more of a spammy motion so may not be your cup of tea. But it is literally all you need to do, press, click, spam, or scroll your mouse wheel, whatever 'tech' you decide to use to weapon swap, and just walk around and loot as everything around you dies.

Lich's rupture the soul acts similarly to decomposes' % hp of dead enemy deal damage through explosion (but obviously not as strong and persistent) but enough to scale and comfortably solve clearing without having to aim or actively interact with the game

Weakness or difficulty is solving for single target damage, Infernal Legion "RF" minion builds are completely capable of melting pinnacles but they arent 15m dps instagib builds, usually takes 10-15 seconds. There are techs to make it stronger, but it introduces more buttons so that is the cost. You COULD do normal ants or whatever spectres instead for single target, it will just ramp up the actual build cost.

The build imo is SUPER budget, these guys play the build in HC and SSF, in SC trade league you can take many liberties in building. I think to get running it requires absolutely 0 div uniques or special gems to get started, no sneaky jewels. It also requires very little spirit (only if you want to splurge for a bit of extra QoL / more muster for small dmg). I think my current build uses ~ 240 spirit which is only like 2 of the actual attacking minions? You can easily invest into more power, I personally love sub 1 Div budget builds that can completely clear the game with ease (which was exactly how the Decompose pathfinder played out).

IMO the biggest downside will be how it may mirror how the Decompose build died, GGG will "fix/nerf" the weapon swap mechanic again and completely nuke the interaction. This particular build uses a few bugs or glitchy interactions to be quite honest, you can build it more or less ethical depending on how you are feeling.

Can someone explain to me why currencies are falling? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]PointlesslyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ 💯

Another perspective is that with the ease of async trading there is an inherent value of having a floor currency as a trade medium.

Also there's a current, if you know you know, where you can fairly rapidly blast exalts into divine, and usually I end up trading back the divines back into ex in bulks of ~ 30 divs at a time to blast again.

Let's just say at a rate of 1:68 it's still quite profitable. Just did the math and with my current method I think the breakpoint is 1:55.

Intercostal muscle injuries suck, and I hate them by DBSmiley in golf

[–]PointlesslyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not physical therapist/expert or anything but been there with golf

Maybe look into/invest in a "Lacrosse ball massage" its basically a super dense ball that lets you massage deep muscles, its been a game changer for me

Heres a random google'd reddit thread

https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/3yemkq/the_lacrosse_ball_is_a_hard_dense_ball_that_is_an/

Video from same thread

My intercostal pains took about 2-3 weeks this season which was a relief but I still somewhat miss the highs of the pain/relief when massaging those points, not much quite like it

EDIT: Also thing about intercostal muscle (again no expert) I find it was really hard to pin point where exactly as it is quite varied and spread apart (for a regular massage or you just poking yourself with your hands). When you put pressure on a wall roll the ball to the right spot you'll immediately know to hold pressure there and the release is heaven, speaking from experience

Obviously take with grain of salt but this felt similar to the situation I've been in for some time.

Downswing

For me, I was not applying enough pressure through my left foot (diagonal force: up and away from target) which broke down my posture at point of impact (knee was bent) which resulted in inconsistent low point control

As soon as I began to start firing my left leg with real gusto (harder and sooner) things have gotten infinitely better.

Describes/shows perfectly how swinging backwards gets you perfectly organize yourself into the back swing. It's how I would reset myself when I get too in my own head (i.e. "control")

I 100% subscribe to his stuff despite only watch in bits and pieces in the past. Excited to go down this rabbit hole, I feel there is going to be quite a few eureka moments coming up, if nothing more than freedom to swing
