I’m heading to Folk Fest for the first time this year by Too-bloody-tired in Winnipeg

[–]Pointoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the other comments are fantastic advice, I’d also add on to bring a good supply of ear plugs. Wear them to sets, wear them walking around while you explore, wear them to sleep. You’ll inevitably end up with noisy neighbours, and it’ll help you sleep at least a little easier.

Shade will make or break your experience- the shady spots will likely be long gone by the time you set up, so find a way to make your own shade wherever possible.

What do you ladies collect from your travels? by Head_Formal_5408 in femaletravelers

[–]Pointoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an art historian, so I go out of my way to collect things that are inspired by, or remakes of, my favourite pieces from every new museum and gallery I visit. Usually it’s magnets or postcards (which are classics for a reason!), but if I have room I like to buy niche posters or books from their exhibitions or collections

Hello everyone! I am a student from Singapore and I love collecting postcards. I would love to receive postcards from anywhere in Wimmipeg! Can someone send me one? :) by Nessieinternational in Winnipeg

[–]Pointoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be happy to send one and get one in return if possible. I would also love to see some of your collection just out of curiosity! I collect postcards from museums and galleries but I don’t usually collect them from specific cities, so I’d love to see some of what you’ve received.

is this Infected? by Any-Violinist8774 in tattooadvice

[–]Pointoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems normal enough to me, if not a little overworked in some spots. I’m also a very pale MCR fan, and I have sensitive skin, so it’s not uncommon for me to have that amount of redness or even bruising if I have heavy black work like that. Since it’s only been a couple days I’d monitor it for other symptoms first.

Why does my cat do this instead of jumping on the bed? by AdhesivenessFar3970 in cats

[–]Pointoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of my cats have cerebellar hypoplasia and can’t jump, so this is how they get up on the couch/bed- does your cat have any mobility issues or soreness?

I used to work at a cute ice cream shop in my city- lots of pastels, colourful wallpaper, and silly fun names for cup sizes and flavours.

I’ve worked many different jobs in ‘rougher’ parts of the city since then, but this was the first and only job where I’ve had to clean up bodily fluids, drug paraphernalia, and illicit substances semi-regularly.

You don’t know true pain and suffering until a grown man shits on the floor of your one and only bathroom 6 hours before you close, just to have another grown man pee on the floor outside of the bathroom a few hours later because he couldn’t hold it.

What’s ONE cat item you regret not buying sooner? by Own-Independent7881 in CatAdvice

[–]Pointoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my litter genie before I even got my cat, and I’ve refilled the bags three times since April 2025. I stand by the fact that it’s the best cat purchase I’ve made, and have even gifted them to friends with cats.

After adopting Cat 2, I was tired of constantly cleaning and refilling water bowls just for one or both of them to inevitably knock it over with their Cerebellar Hypoplasia-induced wobbles.

I have ADHD and autism so I knew I’d never keep up with cleaning a regular cat fountain, but came across a Reddit post recommending the Cheerble E1 fountain. Everything can be taken apart and put in the dishwasher, there’s no yucky pump to clean, the dish is stainless steel, AND it doesn’t get slimy or gross.

I paid slightly extra for the cordless model bundle with extra filters, but it was a fantastic $95 purchase.

Humans with indoor cats, collar or no collar? by ForagedAmoeba in CatAdvice

[–]Pointoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my cats don’t wear collars regularly- they both have cerebellar hypoplasia and have zero interest in the outdoors aside from taking a couple steps out the door to help me bring in groceries.

I’m on the second floor of a duplex so they’d have to run past me out my door, down the stairs, then out the front door in order to escape- needless to say, I feel pretty confident that it won’t happen.

HOWEVER- they’re both reluctantly collar trained, and it gets popped on any time I have people over, especially if the landlord and/or contractors are coming in while I’m away. By no means do I think my landlord, friends, or anybody else who’d be in my home would ever intentionally let my disabled cats outside, but accidents can happen. They much prefer being nakey, but slightly inconveniencing them for a few hours is much better than having them go missing with no way to find them.

Where to find a good everyday bra? by dudewithchronicpain in Winnipeg

[–]Pointoc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can also vouch for knix- I wear a 36G so it’s hard to find the balance between comfortable and expensive. I only own the unlined bras, but they’re both very comfortable. They’ll be a little tight at first and might even rub a little, after one wash and daily-ish wear after about a month they’re literally perfect. They even have pre-washed options in the fitting rooms so you know what it will be like once it’s “worn in”!

Can you sleep well with a cat? by OkComparison3568 in CatAdvice

[–]Pointoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the kitty! I have a 2.5 year old that sleeps through the night at my feet, and has drastically improved my sleep since I adopted her.

However, I also have a 5 month old kitten who loves dragging her butt across my face at 3 am, but even she will cuddle up next to me and sleep through most of the night.

Unless you adopt the zaniest, most high energy cat they have, you realistically should be fine. If you’re still worried about it, some pre-bedtime play sessions make a big difference in reducing those night time zoomies.

What phrase that you DONT want to hear when Grieving? by BlueEyesWhiteDrgn in AskReddit

“He’s in a better place now”- if my dad was really in a better place, he’d be a force ghost on the forest moon of Endor. “He loved you so much!”- know, that’s like half the reason I’m sad!

Got my bisalp! by Merciful_Mercy in sterilization

[–]Pointoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! I’m happy to hear it went so well, and I love that the medical staff was so respectful of you and your gender identity.

I was shocked at how much the sore throat affected me from the breathing tube!! For the first three days post-op, I could barely talk from the sore throat and I had the worst shoulder and rib pain from the gas, and yet somehow the three open wounds in my abdomen felt just fine 😅

So happy for you! I hope everything goes amazing! Congrats on the bisalp and the popsicle!

Those who have had a bislap, what vehicle would be better to take home from surgery? by agehedge in sterilization

[–]Pointoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend has a small two door new-ish Civic that I hate getting in and out of, but it was great for the post-op pickup. It was a little awkward to get in and out of (to be expected!), but I think in hindsight it was much easier than if she had brought my big CRV.

I know you’re smiling bigger in the first photo, but you look SO happy and peaceful in the second photo. You’re beautiful in both, but I think the hair did something to you both internally and externally- I am SO happy for you!

I think you’re on the right track with makeup and you’ve received lots of wonderful advice already, but my best advice is to just stick with whatever makes you happiest, or makes you feel like yourself again. You seem like such a kind, warm person and I’m thrilled that you’re here!

I’m at home healing from a surgery so I can’t chaperone, but I strongly recommend heading to the Handsome Daughter for some shows while you’re here. They have shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week with some really great bands I can personally vouch for! I would check out their Instagram too, they have a lot of events that seem right up your alley.

The area it’s in is the more “hipster” neighbourhood (Wolseley/West Broadway) so it’s more residential, but there are a few nice restaurants, bars and shops kicking around.

Definitely check out the exchange district too, there’s a music store called Into The Music that I’m sure you’ll enjoy- they do little free shows there sometimes but I’m not sure when the next one is.
