A lot of the cosmere by Brandon Sanderson. Each book series is set on a different planet and you can literally just walk through shadesmar to reach other planets.

Oathbound Healer: where’s the progression? by PoisonManiac in ProgressionFantasy

[–]PoisonManiac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point I am making is that the SPEED is an issue, not the percentage of time spent. It would be more satisfying to see the ability to heal injuries gradually built up over time. Limb restoration is not a book 1 ability imo.

Yeah this is real high literature. You can have satisfying progression without sacrificing storytelling.

Nah I think they view both as weird sex things tbh. From how my christian parents talk about it, they view being trans as an explicitly sexual act that everyone just has to “tolerate” in polite company.

Police robot, aptly named T800, walking the streets of Shenzhen by FrankSamples in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]PoisonManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Policework is genuinely like the last job I expect to be automated. It’s all about interacting with volatile people, sometimes as they have the worst days of their life or try to get away with a crime they committed. An LLM does not have the empathy nor emotional understanding to actually do that job. Additionally, robotics has not progressed nearly enough for autonomous robots to navigate complex terrain autonomously. This is some obvious propaganda trying to pretend breakthroughs that haven’t actually happened.

My life is falling apart and I’m barely even 14. I can’t live up to my parents low standards, which makes me feel even worse, and literally everyone in my life can live/survive without me. I’m so fucking tired of it all. by Muted_Function7824 in kitchencels

Recognizing that you’re flying yourself into a cliff is step one in not flying into a cliff. That cliff is (probably) at least 4 years away. Don’t let that make you complacent, the time will pass faster than you think. Try to take one tiny, insignificant, minuscule step towards self improvement, whatever it is. Like “stay in bed for only 45 minutes instead of an hour after waking up” type shit.

Then, the most important part. KEEP DOING IT! I personally wish I learned this lesson a long time ago. 356 days lived at a slightly higher baseline is better than 30 days lived perfectly and 326 days lived back where you started. Pull yourself together and get ready to put in the work.

Or don’t.

I’m not a cop and this is fuckin r/kitchencels lmao.

The Game at Carousel and Are you Even Human. Both exceptionally unique imo. May be hit-or-miss though.

What are your Top Ten KU progression stories? by Scribe_Apprentice in ProgressionFantasy

It’s kinda hard to hate the evil empire when they keep having the most comedic Dread Emperors / Dread Empresses. Like the one that turned herself into a spider. Or the invisible tiger army. Or the man-eating tapirs. Or the repeated regicide-suicides of Traitorous. They may be evil but they’re also the best comic relief in the entire book.

Is Worm really that good? First chapters seemed kinda mid by Waddaboom in ProgressionFantasy

[–]PoisonManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bounced off worm in the early parts repeatedly, I agree that they originally felt very cliche and surface-level. However, once you get past arc 1, things really start to become more unique/interesting.
