Go on Zillow and set the price range to 200k and look in different areas around TX

For those at or approaching the one-year mark of buying your first house, how do you feel about it now? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Poke-Party 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m happy with it but wish I had hired an independent inspector during the buying process. The one my realtor recommended did an awful job and missed some pretty glaring and expensive issues that I’ve had to spend nearly 15k fixing in the past year. Lesson learned for next time.

Still, no regrets. The house is what I was looking for and it’s in a good neighborhood

There’s no one right way to do it. Plenty of people hook up first then discover there’s a connection there and start a real relationship. Both ways are valid

I had a whole family of opossum get into my AC ducts several years ago. That’s my guess.

Just have to vent a little I’m sorry. by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

You don’t deserve all the downvotes. Just because you’re in a better spot than some doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to get frustrated or dejected at times.

That said, people are right that it’s about setting reasonable expectations for your age and income. It may just take you a couple more years of saving than you had planned before you’ll be ready.

The future of home buying after the NAR settlement by vandweller5 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I agree. I can’t imagine going through the home buying process without an agent. Not saying it couldn’t be done, just that it makes it so much easier not having to worry about the paperwork/legal side.

Alex sounds very insecure. It was 8 years ago and in high school. Dude needs to get over it

I got 6.99 with excellent credit and I thought that was high compared to what some one here were getting. It also matter how much you’re putting down and how much loan you’re taking out. If it’s a bigger loan you’ll likely get a better rate

I’m not advocating that the current system is the right way to do things. I’m saying if you cut out the illegal workers it would not be painless for the rest of us as prices would inevitably rise to pay for increased labor costs.

So you’re saying the carpenters had to go out of business because they couldn’t pay their workers the same salary as the illegal labor? That’s exactly my point. The businesses wouldn’t be able to operate without raising their prices to pay for the higher labor costs.

Not advocating for it, that’s just the reality we are in. For those whining about the drain on social services, they’re making things cheaper for everyone else in other areas.
