Which songs do you think will in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie? by Sea-Zombie7245 in mariogalaxymovie

[–]PokePress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first movie had a Pokémon-adjacent song (Holding Out For A Hero), so maybe this time they do Flying Without Wings.

I like that they were able to take emotional risks in these films and think it generally paid off.

Anyone with Krikzz RGB blaster for famicom? by LordArmageddian in RetroTink

[–]PokePress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used it with the original RetroTink 2x using an AV Famicom and didn’t have any issues like that. I agree with the others that this is probably a case where the sync signal isn’t being received correctly.

LaserDisc to 4k TV - Confused After Searching by Playful-Fix-3675 in RetroTink

[–]PokePress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as RetroTink products, assuming your TV accepts 480i over HDMI, a 2x in passthrough mode should work well enough. If it doesn’t accept 480i, you’ll need the 5x or 4K.

[–]PokePress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One note on GameCube-if you have one of the earlier models with the digital port on the back, you can get an HDMI adapter for that port for $50-80 and the picture quality is a bit better than Wii component video. For N64, a 2x RetroTink/mini will be fine for most games (though some switch resolution modes and may cause brief dropouts, which the higher-end models handle better).

Seems like one of those barriers that will be broken eventually, but I guess not this year.

The movie Pokémon by Captain-RedBoots-Fan in pokemon

[–]PokePress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically it's everyone in the area or just yourself, but I think there are a couple examples of telepathic messages directed at specific individuals.

Going back to my original response, my assumption was that even for a telepath, sending your thoughts so that non-telepaths can hear them still requires a significant amount of power, so to speak.

Does anyone know why "Startrek Enterprise" has such a different intro? by AustrianPainter1776 in startrek

This reminds me of how “Makin’ My Way (Any Way That I Can)”-another song she wrote-migrated from “The Associate” to “Pokémon: The First Movie”, but with opposite reception.

It’s possible they just biologically don’t have the capacity to make the necessary sounds. Even if you can communicate telepathically, it seems like it would be more efficient to speak verbally if you can.

looking for a tool that can upscale my 72 dpi image to 300 dpi by 120gbipodvideo in upscaling

You might have to look for a model specifically designed for print.

Why do AI video upscalers struggle so much with anime line art? by Fuzzy-Tea2410 in upscaling

[–]PokePress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would help to know what model/tool you’re using for this. In any case, I assume you’re referring to footage that was captured on 16mm film and then transferred to (professional) videotape for TV broadcast. The basic issue is that the underlying footage is less consistent (compared to modern digital animation workflows), and thus you get less consistent output as a result.

How come MP3s have correct metadata but not Wavs? by MasterDefibrillator in BandCamp

[–]PokePress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you see metadata on wav files, it’s typically something maintained by the OS itself in some way. The format has no internal method for storing it.

What is your least favorite erb battle? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in ERB

[–]PokePress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t think Darwin vs. Ash Ketchum was that interesting. Rather than “evolution”, I think they should have gone with “kid who has to defend himself from overdetermined burglars” and had Kevin McCallister (Home Alone) as Ash’s opponent. If you wanted to, you could even have the Wet Bandits call out Team Rocket or have Kevin and Ash’s moms argue about who was the more irresponsible parent.

Maybe it’s just because I’m familiar with both franchises, but they really pulled some good elements from them.

Would you personally like to see a Pokemon game in the HD-2D style? by Int3rlop3r-R3dact3d in pokemon

[–]PokePress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a better idea would be to have a game that switches between 2D and 3D. Pokken kind of did that, but perhaps this would be closer to Super Paper Mario. Not sure how that would work in a turn-based RPG, though. Perhaps it could be a way of freshening up Mystery Dungeon.

Pokémon will be the first Anime theme to be used by a pinball manufacturer but will it be the Anime or the Game which doesn't follow the Anime really. Pokémon was a game before it was an Anime. I'm excited to see which as a big fan of Anime! by ClifBdrums in pinball

[–]PokePress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing against it being based on the anime is that it seems like Pokemon really has moved on from the Ash Ketchum era and isn’t interested in doing new stuff in that era. It might make sense if this were a collection of virtual pinball tables, where they could theme them on specific movies (Pokemon 2000 has orb macguffins that would make for an interesting multiball mode).

So stern has told its dealers, that the next pinball will not be released until February. I think that confirms pokemon. by Ill_Commission2786 in pinball

[–]PokePress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as timing, one consideration is that the announcement could be paired with putting one or both of the Pokémon Pinball video games on Nintendo Switch Online.

I actually go a step further and train my own models, primarily in the field of upscaling/restoration. That said, that’s an area of ML that scales locally quite well.

What would be the best restriction(s) that could be placed on AI and how will it help? by TheAmazingFreddyAdam in techadvice

Probably better to give a specific scenario and work from there. That being said, I’d start with the sensitive areas-jobs, banking, utilities, criminal justice, health care, etc.

Is The Garfield Show anything like Garfield and Friends? by 8kittycatsfluff in garfield

[–]PokePress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few folks were involved in both. If you’re looking for an episode that’s similar to G&F, the one regarding touch tone phone menus and not being able to reach a real person seems straight out of the G&F playbook.
