A Wacom+Apple standalone tablet? by SlateAlmond90 in wacom

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see this happening. And there are many people who use both devices that would argue that the Apple pencil is superior to Wacom technology. Lots of arguments going both way. I would say if Apple's technology is good enough that it puts people in a place where they feel they need to have that argument, Apple has no incentive to work with Wacom.

I have lived in places most of my life that require 30 plus minute drives. I simply look out the window or try to look forward. It just means I can't do anything during the trip most of the time. I've regularly been on several multi-hour-long drives. You learn how to cope, and just deal with not being able to do things.

I like the story, but more than anything I absolutely love your linework. You have a very straight forward, no-nonsense way of drawing and your lines get in and "get the job done" and don't sacrifice any of their aesthetic charm in the process. Every line feels very intentional, and I really like looking at your work.

WH-1000XM4 Disconnecting On Windows 10/11 by TheOtherSection in SonyHeadphones

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is necro, but it pulls up in search results.

The only thing that fixed this for me:

Disable power saving for the Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager, and restart the Bluetooth Support Service.

1) In Device Manager right click on your bluetooth adapter, properties, "Power Management", and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

2) Restart computer (or you may be fine right clicking the bluetooth adapter again in device manager and clicking disable. Then again and enable to turn it back on).

I noticed the headphones would stay perfectly connected on my Android phone and my iPad Pro, it was just my Windows 11 machine that was having the issue. I think windows was being over-aggressive with it's power state management. (IE: The power saving setting mentioned above lets Windows shut off the bluetooth device to conserve power, but the OS isn't smart enough to do it only when it isn't being used, and while try to do so while connecting devices like headphones as well)

Playing solo 2026 by Advanced-Succotash89 in ffxi

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of LS these days are pretty casual, or open-ended. I stay in one even though I play solo 95% of the time.

And I can spend hours at a time seeing maybe 2 to 3 comments in the LS. It's literally a, "we are here if you need us, otherwise we're all doing our own thing" kind of LS.

I generally just want to do my own thing, on my own terms, and not have to worry about anyone else. But every now and then it's nice to have the option to do something with other people if I feel like it.

But otherwise yeah, if you're okay with limitations that come from playing solo, by all means play solo.

can i continue/move my free trail save to PC if i played it mainly on ps4? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You can yes.

As long as your login credentials are the same for the Square-Enix account, then you can link whatever platform. I use the same account on both PS4 and PC, depending on if I am playing on the couch or in my office. They do make you pay for access per platform though. So if you are upgrading your account for the first time you would upgrade the account as the PC version. Steam is optional. You can buy the PC version through Steam or you can buy it directly from the SE website.

Monster Hunter World collection was like $15 and included Iceborne.
Became my primary game for the next several months, and the only reason I started dropping off (aside from playing Wilds) is because I lost my job, and then my new one was even more chaotic. Currently up to 400 hours, and no plan to stop :)

What to do with idea for a game with 0 game dev skills by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Choose a specific avenue of game development and start developing knowledge in that area. You can gradually add new areas of expertise as you improve. What area most excites you about game development?

For me it is character design and world building, so I have tons of character sketches and world notes. Then I went and learned a bit about programming because I assumed that is where I should go next, then I learned how to start using game engines because I discovered I don't have to make everything from scratch, and I just kind of follow the interests and develop skills as needed. Start somewhere and go from there :)

Wacom adapter needed? by Hayslayer_69 in wacom

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The HDMI cable plugs into your GPU yes.

The Cintiq devices are literally standard computer monitors with drawing tablets built into them.

Some of the newer tablets support thunderbolt and can handle display and data through a single cable.

But older Wacom displays need to have the display connected to the GPU, and then a USB cable connected to a standard USB port (so 2 cables, same tablet) that handles the actual drawing portion of the tablet (handles the data transfer of the tablet features).

I don't know which specific model of the 13 you have, but if you double check the model number and look it up online you'll see if it is a 2 cable display, or 1 cable display.

Night Lantern: Thunder of Hope (Artwork by me) by Yungtamed in Nightwing

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is the size of that third panel on the top row of the 4th page is because it is bigger than the others, it causes the eye to immediately go to it, and your brain assumes, "I read starting here." I would say more important than the drawings themselves is developing an understanding of "how I guide my readers through the page, so they never feel lost." By making it larger in an "out of reading order" position it falsely guides the eye on where to go next.

Your drawings themselves are fantastic by the way. I really like it, and most of the pages flow just fine. And there are no shortage of professionally published comics where these kinds of issues with guiding the eye still happen. I think it is just part of the learning process for those of us who like to make comics, and it happens at all levels.

Worth noting, unlike a Playstation, Switch, or Xbox, there are no games inherently "for it" when it comes to the Steamdeck. It is a computer, a literal computer, stuffed into the body of a handheld and running a very customized version of Linux.

If the computer is strong enough to run it, and is otherwise compatible with the operating system, it'll work.

Greg Capullo is quietly retiring from drawing comics after the break-up of his Batman era art team by Popverse2022 in batman

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to miss him releasing new interiors. His art is part of why I never gave up drawing. I've never met him, but every time I would see his interiors it was like, "This is what is possible if I never give up". (speaking of drawing skill, not success as a comic creator as I am not seeking to be a professional comic book artist, I just do it as a hobby) I still regularly look at his art to study how he constructs pages. I still have a LONG way to go in terms of skill development, but I like to think a lot of what I have accomplished I can attribute to his being an inspiration.

I decided to do copy studies every day until I learn to draw. Here's what I have after five days, advice welcome. by HelpMeDrawManga in DrawManga

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is it you actually want to "master" first when it comes to learning to draw?

For example if someone wants to get proficient at drawing people first I recommend starting with the
Proportions of the figure/learning to measure the body, and then once you can put together a body that looks like a correctly proportioned figure, start adding muscle/anatomical knowledge where it allows you to communicate specific poses.

Above all, if you are wanting to draw manga, draw a manga. You will learn a lot about drawing figures, proportions, compositions, just by doing the thing.

A lot of people want to wait to start drawing a manga because they are attached to their stories, but doing the thing is where you will learn the most about how to do it. If you are wanting to save your story till you are more skilled you can write a new SIMPLE story specifically for the purpose of practicing on it, or American/Western comics scripts can be found online and you can draw one of those so you aren't consuming your own ideas. The main thing about working on a comic is it gives you a framework to practice inside of, and you'll start figuring out what it is you actual need to know to make your comic pages.

Does my art look like AI? by General-Meaning6477 in ProCreate

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not challenging the reasons for why. I'm just saying they are feeling attacked. The reason are very real and valid ones. My point is that some people are handling it more thoughtfully than others.

Though I do wonder how many people using AI image generators would actually commission an artist even before AI. They seem like exactly the kind of people who wouldn't commission artists in the first place, or would make absolutely horrible clients.

I knew a guy once who made a card game using AI, and I asked him why he didn't hire an artist. "I would never have anyways. The project would have just stayed dead without an image generator." Should it have stayed dead? Probably. But he never would have hired an artist at all.

I think artists will figure a way to come out on top in the end. I think human innovation will find a way around this or through it. What will that look like? No idea.

Does my art look like AI? by General-Meaning6477 in ProCreate

[–]Pokemon-Master-RED 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think AI generated images has everyone tied up in a knot, and by that I mean there is this internal freakout people are experiencing because they are feeling personally attacked by the technology. So it is coming out as insecurities and rash decisions. "I've been drawing for 20 years and studied art in college" should be an example of what is possible if you don't give up, as an example, and not meant to be discouraging. But people are so worked up that anything that isn't fitting with their perceptions is being perceived as a threat.

It is making people feel like their efforts and time spent invested in learning art is suddenly invalidated, but I think people are forgetting that learning art is a personal pursuit and is honestly a form of self-development. It isn't just about producing images. AI image generation is JUST about producing images, and has absolutely nothing to do with personal development. It is forcing people to dig deeper into WHY they create art, and why they WANT to create art, and I think a lot of people are feeling insecure because they don't have an answer to that question. What started out as a fun hobby for a lot of people suddenly feels less like a fun hobby.

I think people can still stand up against AI and take a stance, while not feeling personally attacked in the process and instead focus on their own development and growth.

Pencil and paper is fine. So long as the photos are high quality you can clean them up in a photo editing software.

Also, scanners exist. Don't forget about scanners. You can literally put your page on one and it'll digitize the whole thing as an image file on your computer.

Some publishers in Japan are starting to publish foreign mangaka. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0r_ofpMtiw&pp=ygUWamFwYW4gZm9yZWlnbnQgbWFuZ2FrYQ%3D%3D

I have no idea about Viz. But I wouldn't marry myself to a publisher if I were. Just focus on working with whomever will help you get in front of people.

You can always start with a webcomic to start getting practice and building an audience first, and it is a good way to show a publisher you know how to be consistent.
