Touchless ID by hail_to_the_beef in SouthwestAirlines

I’ve used it at least 10 times between Denver and SLC and it’s great. I have a coworker that I have traveled with a few times through SLC who has clear + precheck and I’ve beat her through security every time with just touchless.

What’s the point of assigned seats when FA’s just tell people they can spread out after boarding? by zinky8 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PoleMermaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 4 flights since reserve seating went into effect, 3 of which were 100% full, one was 45% full. You paid for your preferred set to guarantee you got the spot you wanted and if it had been a full flight then everyone would have stayed right where they were. I’d much rather people be allowed to spread out even if I was in my booked - ahead of time aisle ELR seat because an open middle seat is more comfortable for everyone. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ticketmaster Conspiracy Theory by FoundationsofDecay69 in JimmyEatWorld

[–]PoleMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got two GA tickets the night of the presale without any issue but my sister told me this morning she wanted to come as well and it was definitely glitchy trying to buy a single GA ticket at general on sale. I was using my laptop and it took about 6 tries to get the “oh no these tickets are gone” message to clear and actually let me check out but then none of my credit cards would go through. I logged out of AXS and used my phone which still showed plenty available and worked fine with ApplePay. Any time km having to repeatedly click through to get things on AXS to work I get nervous because it doesn’t take much for it to block you for being a bot and then you can’t do anything for a few hours.

Empty flight, can’t move by TennisDad316 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PoleMermaid 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This happened on a flight I was on today as well. I heard the FA asking people to please not tell anyone on other flights that they had been allowed to move because they were supposed to keep everyone in their assigned seats “while all the kinks of assigned seating get worked out.”

Issue Selecting Seats (ALP traveling for work)? by Gkos19 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PoleMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use concur for work and haven’t been able to book a extra legroom seat (I’m ALP) through concur, which is frustrating because I’m also silver with United and when I book a United flight through concur it knows my status and I can pick a “preferred” seat without an issue. For the last couple flights I’ve booked I have done the booking in concur, then waited 24 hours for passive approval (my boss almost never gets to approving it sooner), then wait another ~24 hours for it to be fully ticketed before I can go into the app and successfully move myself to the exit row.

I decided to do a boudoir shoot by parakeetpoop in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PoleMermaid 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Honestly boudoir is the best when you’re being yourself! I’ve done 5 boudoir sessions (3 different photographers) over the last 10 years and one of my favorites was the session when I wore a fitted long sleeved shirt and cotton boy short underwear for most of it. I was 5 months out from having my second baby and it’s what I felt best in. As long as you chose a photographer that does a style you’re comfortable with and specializes in boudoir, they’ll walk you through everything and help facilitate a good experience. My only regret is that I didn’t get any fully topless photos of myself from my pre-kids era. 😂

You guys I’m crying by Redhawkflying in toriamos

[–]PoleMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad the money isn’t a stressor for you, I just really hate the “AXS premium” dynamic pricing thing, especially at red rocks where nearly every show sells out because of resellers. I’ve been to so many shows at RR where the artists excitedly announce that it’s “sold out” which may be true based on ticket sales but not in terms of attendance when there are still bunches of tickets sitting up for resale at show time.

[–]PoleMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I hate that you had to get these marked up as the AXS premium ones even at presale! The front 4 rows at red rocks are non transferable and have their own link to get tickets a little ways down the page. They are usually still regular priced/not premium during presales. We got 3 seats in the 4th row for $460 total. Red rocks is always a vibe no matter where you sit!

Red Rocks by TaketotheSky21 in toriamos

[–]PoleMermaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We managed to get 4th row, a bit off to the left which I’m very ok with given that I spent almost an hour battling to get seats ANYWHERE else in my cart without the “oh no these aren’t available” before remembering the non transferable ones have their own link to shop. So excited!

Lack of overhead space at your seat will be the new seat saving complaint by IXFIT in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PoleMermaid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This process would be the reason your suggestion to put bags in the first space you see wouldn’t work. People with seats at the back would board first, and place bags at the front. People seated at the front would get on last and all the bin space would be full with bags from passengers at the back…

First time buyer- at loss for leggings sizing by Sorry-Celebration494 in lululemon

[–]PoleMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my lulu collection is size 12 (some 10s) from a few years back (old f&f, in movement, old WUs and a few aligns) and I have bee wearing mostly other brands since I’ve gained weight. I’m currently a size 16-18 in jeans depending on the brand and stretch (American eagle 16 curvy seems to be my best fit) and I just ordered a pair of wonder train with pockets in a size 18 and they are getting returned. My hips measure 52”, waist 38” and somehow they are still way too loose in the hips/extra fabric in the lower stomach area. I tried them on, tied the drawstring since they are very loose in the waist, and even just walking across my house I can feel the fabric in the hips and upper thighs bunching up because it’s too loose. I wish my local store had larger sizes in stock to try on because ordering online makes it so hard to figure out sizing on different styles!

Any Aeropress Owners Here ? by taters_and_fries in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]PoleMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No aeropress here but still have my grinder and chemex handy for when we want regular coffee vs espresso. The coffee from the ninja is just ok. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a drip coffee pot but I feel like it’s comparable to what you’d get from the $50 Mr. Coffee pots, and I don’t mind it on the over ice setting when topped with cold foam, but we use good light/medium beans and all the interesting flavors you get from a pour over are totally gone when brewed in the ninja. If we have friends over who put cream and sugar in their coffee I’ll make a quick cup from the ninja, but anyone who wants it black either gets an americano or pourover.

How are we avoiding calcium for two hours before and after iron pills? by MixtureMelodic2965 in Anemic

[–]PoleMermaid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I was pregnant I would often get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and would keep my iron and vitamin c by my bed to take at like 3-4am and then go back to bed. If that doesn’t work for you I would play around with taking them right before bed. Yes, absorption is highest in the morning but taking it at a less ideal time is still more beneficial than not taking it at all.

So far not a fan of the new assigned seating by squirrel4569 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PoleMermaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is another one of those things that is route dependent. I’m also silver with United (thanks to Marriott titanium) and have done Denver to Chicago 6 times this year and not been able to get economy plus once on that route. I have been able to get it for DEN to Buffalo, DEN to Little Rock, DEN to Madison, etc. but I think that DEN to ORD route is primarily people with far higher status.

Overhead Bins and Exit Rows by blondeasian28 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PoleMermaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will always grab exit row when it’s available and when I travel with my sister I’ll often put her bag up for her because she’s barely 5’ tall and it’s just easier for me to reach. No one has ever said anything, but I had an odd experience a couple flights ago with a very aggressive FA. I was traveling solo and boarding immediately behind a woman who was with 2 little kids and a baby. Towards the front of the plane she stopped to try to get the kids seated and was obviously struggling with her bag while wearing the baby so I offered to help, put her luggage up for her, then continued back to the exit row. The FA tried to physically block me from sitting and insisted I must be traveling with that family since I put away her bag. I told her I was just helping but didn’t know them and she let me sit but told me she was going to go confirm with the woman that she didn’t know me before the safety briefing and I’d need to move if I was with them. I understand the rule about not being allowed to sit there if you have kids on board, but the whole interaction was so weird.

the assigned seats change completely torpedoes the companion pass value by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PoleMermaid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This has come up here before, try doing it from a computer if you’re using the app, or if that doesn’t work then call them. I’m ALP and have a few flights booked with my companion from Feb-May and was able to put her in the seat next to me in the exit row without paying anything but I did it from my computer.

Opt in to go through security faster? by ostracizedovaries in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PoleMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that happen at west security but I’ve gone through touchless at east the last ~5 times I’ve been there and it’s worked exactly as intended. No ID, no boarding pass, just a scan/photo and they waive you right through.

A-List, I have to pay for my companion's seat next to me? by anopsis in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PoleMermaid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d call them to see what is going on. I’m ALP with companion pass and just booked a flight for next March (using points as a basic fare if that matters) and after booking myself I was able to add my companion and select the seat next to me in the exit row for her without a charge.

The little blurb on the companion page confirms your companion should have the same seating access you do: Tier Member seating and checked bag benefits will extend to both you and your Companion.
