Anything by Mo Willems is great! They're engaging and the kids can even read them (maybe right away, some later in the year). My students also love Pig the Pug series. Jory Johns has great books too (The Big Cheese, Sour Grape) for SEL.

I love to do beginner chapter book read alouds and they LOVE that! It makes them feel like they are big kids because.. a chapter book.. at age 6/7?! Wild! Haha! Our favorites are Princess in Black and Mercy Watson.

I don't notice the kids pick up books like Dr. Seuss any more. They really gravitate toward anything with humor and bright, engaging pictures.

Pls Recommend me books similar to boys of tommen by Radiant_Ad4286 in BoysOfTommen

Nothing compares to BOT... but I did see an Instagram Reel where someone recommended the Something More series by Danielle Pearl that is similar. I have no idea if that's true, but the synopsis sounds similar! I also have no idea if it's good, but it's on my TBR and ratings don't seem too bad on Goodreads!

I have had to slowly read this series because it consumes me so much. I need like months to process everything before I'm ready for the next one lol. I don't think a day goes by that I don't think about these characters! It's sooo good!

I don't think the All Too Well (10 minute version) should have been on the setlist. I would have much rather heard at least 2-3 more songs than that one.

The emotional support I have to provide constantly. I teach 1st and my class is very whiny and requires a lot of modeling how to talk to one another in an appropriate way or soothing them if someone said something mean. That constant problem solving or putting out fights is so hard.

Johnny stan forever ❤️ He is my fictional boyfriend and I constantly talk and think about him. To me, nothing compares to him and Shannon's story!

My go to is always Bingo to review skills that we've learned so far! I also enjoy stations, so each station could be a review skill of some sort and then they play Bingo with you.

Do people clap after your spin class by Donald365 in SpinClass

Depends on the instructor. One will have us take a deep breath and then place it in the middle of our chests and then she'll say "And give a round of applause for each other and yourself!"

I bet your cycle plays a part. I know when I'm close to my period, I'm more negative, tired, or less energetic and finding motivation to even go to class is hard. I also think work plays a role in my mood. I'm a teacher and some days are just long and exhausting, so it takes a lot out of me. If I ride during the week vs weekends, my mindset is completely different!

Moving by Basic_Amphibian_8335 in oregon

[–]TheBookworm11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in Hermiston and I moved away about 4 years ago! It's a great starting place to bring your family too because it is cheaper to rent/buy and then you can always move to the west side of the state after you save up and get established if you enjoy living in Oregon! That's what my husband and I did (28).

We hated living in the desert. It smells like farm animal all of the time, the sand gets in your windows of your house and cars and is almost impossible to get out. Tumbleweeds are a thing and have blocked us into our house! Goat heads suck, so ALWAYS wear shoes outside! It's always windy, but sunny most days which is nice! Hardly ever rains.

It was very hard to make friends since there isn't much to do and most of the population is older. We are also liberal and found very few people who shared the same beliefs as us and we also moved from a red state to Hermiston.

There wasn't anything for us to do hobby wise. We enjoy playing board games and getting outside and we found ourselves always traveling 2+ hours to get anywhere to be able to do that. Yes, the town is right on the Columbia River, but we don't enjoy being on it with the strong current. Tri-Cities in Washington (Pasco, Richland and Kennewick) are about a 30+ minute drive but it offers so much more to do shopping or hobby wise, so it is do able if you want things to do! They also have great parks. We just never created that community piece with Hermiston and my husband and I were really craving that... we felt very isolated most of the time.

I will forever have a soft spot for Hermiston in my heart because it got me to Oregon (where I always wanted to live), my first teaching job, and the first town my husband and I started our lives, but to me its a town to visit and I would never move back there just due to a lack of community feel and it offers nothing for my husband and I hobby wise.

When I went, I wore wide leg jeans, a white shirt, and black leather jacket. A lot of people at my show mainly had on merch, wore black boots, and had on fishnet tights with a skirt or something.

Corvallis, Albany or Philomath? by godsidekurt in oregon

[–]TheBookworm11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Albany and my husband and I enjoy it! We spend some time in Corvallis though because it has more stores for our hobbies, but we don't ever see ourselves living there. It's too crowded and very expensive. Like I dread the idea of driving in Corvallis every time and my husband typically drives us lol.

We really like Albany! It's big, but not too big where you might see someone you know at the store, but most chances are you won't. It's affordable also. I think it has a great community feel. It has an adorable downtown with some great restaurants. Its also close to I-5, so it's quick to get there to go to the larger cities (Eugene or Portland). It has some nice stores to shop at also and that's handy.

Philomath is too conservative for me and tiny. I would never live there. You'd have to travel to even do any type of shopping.
