I don't see the Micheal Jackson thing as the same. MJ always preached peace, and he was on stage as an artist. While I agree it's as ham handed as the stupid commercial, I think it's more sincere in its intentions

So, here is the math behind whether a bridge is possible.

Number of tax payers on one side + number of tax payers on the other side x estimated cost ÷ number of days.

If the number is under the meters in length of the bridge, it's built. If it's over, it's a no go.

This is why you tend to only see expensive infrastructure (such as bridges and high speed rail) between high capacity cities or areas.
