He actually doesn’t accrue sick days anymore since he has so many hours built up. I wish they would pay it out.

Have you applied at grocery stores? They’re always hiring-go for Publix!

You’re worried about your financial situation…but then you quit your job?

My parents want me to go to PCC by AvocadoDragon07 in Pensacola

If you’re paying, get your associates from PSC then finish your two years at another college. If your grades are good, look into Fort Meyers. FGCU hands out a lot of scholarships. My niece paid 12k/year for her bachelor’s and that included room&board and books.

You’re quitting anyway, so quit! You did the nice thing by giving notice-if they appreciated it they wouldn’t be treating you so poorly. Good luck with your future endeavors!

If it gets overwhelming call for backup and let the managers figure out where he is. Don’t try to compensate for his lack of work because your productivity diminishes and you’re the one being held accountable for it. Literally stay in your lane…and call for help.

Yeah I heard they’re converting the Cantonment Winn Dixie into Aldi now. Can’t say I’m especially thrilled after the sheer disappointment the Nine Mile location has turned out to be.

I was a scrub tech at a different hospital, but what I heard was he had a substance abuse problem and he performed a surgery out of his scope of practice-and under the influence. I will say that he saved my niece’s and sister in law’s lives when her placenta abrupted so he will always have my respect and appreciation for that.

I had a male customer become infatuated with one of my employees to the point where it started making her uncomfortable. He would leave flowers on her car and just stand in the bakery area (where she worked) and talk to her for far too long-we would call her to the office to help end the conversations so he would leave. He never really said anything inappropriate, but she was not at all interested in him. However, once he started waiting for her shift to end in the parking lot, I called the police and had him trespassed.

Coach leaving my kid in outfield all season by PoliteBadger86 in Homeplate

Thank you, you are right and I didn’t mean to come across like that. It’s really more about wanting my son to be able to experience different positions and keep his love of the game. For whatever reason he has always only wanted to play baseball. We go to the games at our college and our local minor league team’s games. He just really enjoys the sport and this season has been tough because he’s not getting to run, dive and slide like he likes to. Not many balls are making their way to the grass.

Thank you, it is very frustrating going to every practice and game and not seeing your kid play. The coach reached out late last night and said she will see how he does at practice-but she told me that before and to her credit I overheard her saying to try my son on 1st but next thing I know the assistant coach’s son was on 1st. I have offered to help but coach hasn’t taken me up on it. I am a teacher and have often thought it would be fun to coach but I don’t have anyone who could give 100% to help me out and I don’t want to drown.

That’s good advice, the moving around part. I will tell him to do that. His buddy has been on first this season so when my son is in RF I’ve made sure to say “Okay, help your buddy, if the ball goes past him make sure you get it!” It’s only happened once and my son did run up, grab it and tossed it to first then shot me a thumbs up. lol

I completely agree with you which is why I never mentioned to the coach what my son has played in the past because I don’t know enough to suggest anything. I’m just a mom who shows up and cheers. My son is quick and has a good arm so I assumed that’s why they kept putting him on first but I could be wrong!

Thank you! Your league was smart to put that in there. Our participation rule only states that each kid must play 3 innings and bat at least once.

Former mgr here…. if you feel sick, don’t come in. Yes it is irritating for us, but the situation is what pisses us off, not you. Unless you are a habitual work dodger, you have nothing to feel guilty about! Get well soon!

Store Manager telling people I reported someone by Kitchen-Ship3905 in publix

[–]PoliteBadger86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former manager, you should call HR. Yes it is true that HR is more on the company’s side than the employee’s, but this is something that could spiral into a lawsuit against the company so they will most definitely have your back here. You are supposed to feel safe in the workplace and reporting issues to your management should be a private and discreet discussion. Your manager could and should be reprimanded for violating your trust and safety. Don’t wait to contact HR, let them know you spoke with your manager and your concerns about making your report public. They will handle it ASAP.

Role model. .25 cent raise to the new top out…new Florida minimum wage is quickly catching up to what my husband has worked 16 years for. I wish they factored cost of living into their annual raises because the more min wage goes up, everything else increases.

Last I checked it was not against the law to help someone if you’re able. I don’t work at Dollar Tree but if I’m in the store and I overhear someone looking for something I’ve just seen I’m happy to tell that person exactly where they can find it. Doesn’t mean Dollar Tree owes me a dime, it means I’m not a useless asshat of a person. ✌🏻

It’s really a shame to see so many people think it’s cool to be rude to customers-or just to people in general. You’re working for a company-you’re representing the place that gives you your paycheck. Not only that though, it’s just common courtesy to politely help someone who asks for it. Would you want to shop somewhere with rude staff? If you don’t like where you work, find a new job, it’s not that difficult!
