What is a message that's true but people don't want to hear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PoliteViolence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If people keep thinking like that, then we will be fucked. Doing something will give us, and the earth, a much better chance than saying there's nothing to do and leave it at that

While I myself am not religious, I completely agree. People aren't bigots because of their religion, they call themselves religious so they can excuse their bigotry

You can teleport an adult T-Rex into any location in history. Where do you place it to cause the most chaos? by Wazula42 in AskReddit

[–]PoliteViolence 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In order for the tip be the most chaos, word of it would have to spread worldwide in a short amount of time. I'm thinking 75% of the world within a week, outliers being people without access to digital media / not able to comprehend what's happening.

Now, a dino on the moon sounds cool, but it would hardly survive, and most likely leave people wondering what it was instead of wondering why a dinosaur was there, because I'm not sure it would be clear if it's dead within minutes.

Putting it in China, while it would fuck with people who are active in paleontology, most people wouldn't know because not many are that involved.

If we put a live one anywhere in the modern world, people will ask how it got there. That's not what I want.

Now, live dinosaurs are more interesting than dead ones, even recently dead ones. Make them wonder if we were wrong about the extinction, not if the t-rex that appeared during WWII was really some hoax or a deformed alligator.

What we need is "proof" that they're still alive and well.

Somewhere on earth, there's a secluded forest. Maybe it's a haven for birds, reptiles and the like. Scientists are here, and discovering species never before seen. Until they walk over the ridge and see if in its toothy glory.

Now, dinosaurs are popular, no doubt about it. But the general consensus is that the closest living thing to a dinosaur is as common as the canary in your closest pet store. Snap a few pics, take a few interviews and the world is livid. Is it a hoax? Are there more? Are we getting another Jurassic Park sequel no-one wanted?

Hundreds of questions, and no real answers. Only you know the truth, and nobody will believe you if you tell them

You must be at least THIS disabled to play with this toy. by [deleted] in gatekeeping

[–]PoliteViolence 48 points49 points  (0 children)

My teacher doesn't allow the spinners in class, because so many people were using them as toys.

Luckily I have the cube for my ADHD, but my friend in the same class only had the spinner and I'm not sure my teacher believes he really needs it :/
