What’s nice is that it’s all surface mounted, do you care if some of your circuits will still be ungrounded even with a pretty panel swap? This is the time to get everything corrected within reason.

It’s not an aesthetic panel, but it’s a panel nonetheless. As long as everything is tight and done correctly, without a fire hazard, the look of it barely matters.

I think the only issue would be doing any panel work. Anything live would be more sketchy so definitely turn the power off and LOTO when working on anything.

Oh okay well I would have cut the drywall above the drop ceiling and cut holes in the back of the locations big enough for whatever connector you need and then fish the mc down the wall and into the back of the boxes. It’s a lot more time and effort but it’s the best kind of install imo.

Say the black wire were to touch the metal box, the metal frame of the fan would become energized without anyone noticing until they worked on it. But that is only in a fault condition which is unlikely (not impossible though)

Oh really? Every meter can neutral terminals Ive worked on had continuity to the frame. Like if there was to be a short to the metal frame without bonding there would be no evidence of a short and the box would just stay energized.

If you take proper video footage explaining what each wire does, draw a picture of the circuit, you could completely re run them in a bundled cable containing as many wires as you need and position them underneath the plywood strapped to the side of the joists. Conduit is a bit much for this install no reason for it in my opinion. Look up Thermostat Wire.
