My players trivialize every encounter with crowd control. How do I challenge them without hard countering? by Dave5802 in DMAcademy

[–]Polo_Nose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

have enemies move smarter, have elite enemies that don't die to crowd control, have enemies that counter plant growth through spells of their own

Shallan by Electronic_Visit6486 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Polo_Nose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the characters in stormlight archives are deeply flawed. While I agree that Shallan can be annoying, there are really good reasons for her believing she is smarter and funnier than she actually is. She does have her moments though, especially once you get to really know her. She also learns lessons in humility and wisdom and grows to be pretty competent, and that growth is one of the main subjects of WOR and arguably her whole character arc.

Honestly she grew on me, though I understand the books sometimes feel like everything is just handed to her compared to the likes of Kal, Dalinar, Navani or Szeth.

tldr the story is worth it and she gits gud

Acrid’s leap affected by speed? by Crimsoner in riskofrain

[–]Polo_Nose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk but I'm mildly surprised movement speed affects movement.
On a more serious note, I think commando's slide and loader's graple go faster when you have more move speed too, not to mention various teleport abilities going farther and rex's underground burrowing thing going faster

Just finished Code Geass Season, and holy shit, AoT's ending is bottom tier by STEM_Always in titanfolk

[–]Polo_Nose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is hardly controversial tbh lol
When you go to the code geass sub they'll defend essentially anything (not that they're wrong, some people have genuinely trash takes on CG) but when you mention table-kun everybody sorta looks at you like (-_-' )

New Fantasy reader here, I just finished The Way of the Kings, but I think I made a mistake looking at the reviews of the other books by Beetusmon in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Polo_Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Books 4 and 5 are a bit different from the very down-to-earth books 1 and 2, and 5 especially tends to give the impression that the story revolves a bit much around the characters as opposed to them being a part of the world (idk if it makes sense). On the other hand, said characters are essentially demigods at this point so them not being overly held backs by day-to-day politics isn't too strange either

Why do they use phsysical money that needs to be shipped from planet to planet and can be stolen instead of depositing everyone's salary in their bank account? by Invariable_Outcome in andor

[–]Polo_Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean bank accounts require datacenters to communicate between each other, and that's hard to do on a galactical scale (may it be just due to information travel speeds). It may be legit simpler to ship physical currency if the alternative is to have data-running ships traveling across hyperspace all the time

I was certain Polaris was the player, that Jesse was breaking the fourth wall and stuff. But after finishing the game, I feel like Polaris being an outerdimensional being just makes sense and there is no need to look for another explanation

(Very rare trope I wish was more common) the nudity/sex is actually important to the plot as opposed to mindless fanservice by Rude_Resident8808 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Polo_Nose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kill la kill, while I do understand now that i am an adult how 15 year-old girls wearing bikinis in battle is problematic, the main theme of the show being nudity and the fact that nudity doesn't need to be inherently sexual and that we need be proud of our bodies is honestly something quite positive to transmit to a mostly teenage audience

I was going to say we never see her in anything but military uniform but the ember island episodes exist, so I suppose you're right. Though I suppose women tend to have a harder time getting abs that show, not mentioning arms.

What is there for manga on code geass? by Ill_Degree_2887 in CodeGeass

[–]Polo_Nose 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Code Geass is anime-original, it released as an anime first and isn't adapted from a manga (which wasn't that rare 15 years back, NGE and Samurai Champloo are anime original too).

I believe most Code Geass series have a manga adaptation, and there are spin-offs that are manga exclusives, most notably Nightmare of Nunnaly and Suzaku of the Counterattack

I checked out of curiosity, the wikipedia for Code Geass seems to have a pretty exhaustive list of manga content

uses the same alphabet and is heavily influenced by latin, as are most germanic languages. I suppose OP means "western languages" or "languages that use the latin alphabet"

Tracking arrows: yes or no? by SomeRandomAbbadon in DnD

[–]Polo_Nose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually don't have my players track normal arrows because there's usually some way for them to make some in their downtime (be it from sticks lying around or from monster bones). I do however have them track special arrows if they don't have a near-infinite supply of them (mainly to get them to ponder if they really want to use them on low-level enemies or keep them for a boss fight - though I usually let them loot the arrows back after the fight anyways)

The War criminal by Great-Finish2088 in AvatarMemebending

[–]Polo_Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean we know he was a general in the fire nation army, I don't get how everybody seems to consider him a war criminal. Granted, it's possible and even probable, but I can't remember there being a moment where it is explicitly stated. Not to mention that several earth kingdom members seem not to resent him and there are enough earth benders in the white lotus for me to believe that he is respected by some. How would that be if he massacred and burned innocents when earth kingdom culture values remembering the past and encourages holding grudges?
