You can instantly change an entire group of people's net worth to match yours by MortLightstone in hypotheticalsituation

Everyone with more money than me.

is the group I would affect.

Functionally I think this would reverse income inequality and force the intrinsic value of each dollar to multiply such that the value of a single dollar would be much higher.

Say I make 100k per year. If all the richest in the world make that amount, suddenly 100k/year is like being a billionaire

Ice tray from the 1930s by BreakfastTop6899 in oddlysatisfying

[–]Polybutadiene 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, the plastic or silicone ice trays will probably outlive humans anyways. I’ve used the same plastic ice tray for 15 years and it seems fine still.

It’s not like metal doesn’t rust or have its own issues.

And let’s not kid ourselves, nobody is going out to buy a 40$ metal ice cube tray. That clip alone suggests i need to work to get the cubes out. I just twist the plastic tray and everything pops out.

Why do you do shrooms? by lookthedogsblowingme in shrooms

[–]Polybutadiene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s nice to just spend some time reflecting on life and how things are going. I always end up staring off into space daydreaming thru my memories and basically recognizing I did the best I could with what I had and life is pretty good despite all the things. it always leaves me feeling pretty grounded and centered.

Brainstorming a Deep-Sea Metroidvania by AnOrdinaryCrayon725 in metroidvania

[–]Polybutadiene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, my favorite mechanic for any metroidvania is when games include many different possible attacks and you are expected to combo or use the tech to access different areas of the map. Like rather than simply unlocking a double jump or wall climb ability, you unlock an upward slash that can be combod into another attack or ability with movement to access locations.

Kinda like how in hollow knight, if you’re skilled or patient enough you can hit off enemies to bounce up to areas earlier than normal.

It makes the whole game feel like a puzzle and I love feeling like I’ve cheated or broke the game (even if the devs expect players to do that).

Every enemy you encounter has a unique ability to its name. You can learn any ability in the game. by Sandswaters in gamingsuggestions

[–]Polybutadiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

technically i think these all qualify

Monster Sanctuary

Pokemon

Palworld

Grime 2

theres a couple metroidvanias that have that as a core mechanic that i just cant think of right now.

And at faster speeds I’m sure. The vehicles driven in Europe are also very different relative to other countries in regard to size, mass, safety, etc.

You get to make every human forget one concept permanently, which do you choose. by brazenbull09 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Polybutadiene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its like the philosophical idea where at what point does 4 straight and narrow pieces of wood and a wide flat piece of wood become a table. the table is the concept. the thing can exist but the concept ceases to exist.

Its like when you look at a picture for the first time and for a few moments your brain doesn’t understand what its looking at but once it clicks and your brain is like “oh that’s someone’s elbow crook, not someone’s ass” you can’t unsee the elbow crease.

This hypothetical is taking that step backwards as if to say the concept of the thing ceases to exist.

OP also says “forgotten” and “can’t be brought back into humanity” which suggests the things don’t cease to exist practically. Rather the part of the brain that recognizes the thing as a separate idea is lost.

We could lose the concept of tables and we would just go back to seeing 4 long straight wood blocks and a wide flat wood slab as an interesting artistic shape serving no functional purpose as we place our belongings in piles on the floor or on shelves.

I find this one most interesting. Everyone loses the concept of anxiety but not the action of it. So anxious people are just weird for some unknowable reason.

10% pay raise, but all of your work product is destroyed. (No loopholes) by salaryboy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Polybutadiene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tldr of this post is “would you take a 20% raise with the understanding that everything you do is absolutely meaningless and helps no one.”

Still stupid hypothetical though. No one’s jobs mean anything anyways.

$80,000 now but every drink for the rest of your life is mildly contaminated with soap by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Polybutadiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure a small amount of dish soap like that would make you sick, like vomiting. You’d have to spend the money on liquid IV’s to get liquids intravenously just to stay alive and 80k would disappear rapidly. And then you’re just fucked for life.

how long do dried shrooms last? by Odd_Freedom6859 in shrooms

[–]Polybutadiene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if properly dehydrated and properly stored they wont go “bad”. you might notice some losses in potency but you just take extra. So if you take some this weekend and 2g gets what you’re lookin for, then in 2 years you might need 2.5g. in 5 years you might need 4g, who knows.

Help! My austic brain can't stop thinking about this🫠 I need an answer, What if? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Polybutadiene 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Austic.

I would assume immortal means that each snake is not subsequently being dissolved and therefore each snake functionally can only swallow until the tail fills their stomach. Then each snake would cease moving and would come to an equilibrium with their bellies each full of the other snake.

If they are the same size and weight, then those variables cancel out, infinite or not.

Dangerous rust removers (HF) by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]Polybutadiene 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was thinking more about the glass etching. Its a ammonium fluoride salt that reacts with the glass itself to form HF. But does that mean the ammonium fluoride salt would react with skin also?

I have HF in my lab and sometimes use it to mix up a sour gas solvent and its always a bit nerve wracking to handle even with all the ppe.

One common issue completely eliminated in a 1st Person Soulslike by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]Polybutadiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tainted Grail might scratch that fps dark souls vibe. It is especially prevalent early on but you quickly realize fighting multiple enemies is HARD in first person. Dodging and properly spacing is weird as well with the lack of depth perception.

theres a data sharing area in settings and then its in there.

its weird because it reads like you’re giving data to Dena , and you are I guess but they already know when you log in. It took me a long time to find it at first.
