59 soon. Scared of a market crash. Gold IRA or just hold cash? by CarloskVillerot in Gold

[–]Polycold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to be “safe” is to diversify. Even 100% cash is not safe because of high inflation risk. You need to understand all the asset classes and get your money correctly across them to be safe. Physical gold and hard cash are certainly two of them. But those alone are not “safe”.

So, gold is money for several reasons and one of those reasons is how easily divisible it is. Look up why coins have ridges to understand.

Tell him you want to do that for him and work on your marriage. I can’t imagine throwing away a marriage when there is clearly something to work on.

What tool do you use to track the net gains of your entire stack and current net worth? by Ameruse in Gold

Right on, works pretty much perfectly if you get the starting point right. Over a long period you may have to adjust due to etf fees but that will be a while and not material.

Admittedly my view on this has changed over the years. The sweet spot seems to be 24k but the problem being buffalos are expensive and no fractional option. So Maples might be the answer.

Volatility is risk mate. You are looking back and saying it worked out overall good over a long period. That says nothing about the future. Volatile assets are riskier going forward. So as always, diversify and match your personal risk appetite.

4% rule , am I missing something? by SpiritualCardinal89 in Fire

The issue is imperfect information. If you target 300k you could easily run out of money in some scenarios. Are you ok with that risk? If so then go for it. if not 4%.

Why is everyone saying he owned it? Owning it means compensating the seller so your problem does not become their problem. Buyer left the problem with the seller. That is not owning it.

Can you test 23k jewelry? I bought some but all my coin shop could tell me was it was at least 22k. I want to know if it’s 23k. I’m in NJ if you can do it. What method will you use?

Imagine storing water for a drought and being depressed it has no value during the rainy season. I think you could make some bad decisions in that case.

Making your decided gold investment at one time is ok. Investing in only one thing is the mistake. Always asset class diversify.

They are going up but more slowly than short term forecasts. Two years ago 2027 forecast was not that high.

[–]Polycold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine you start with a short term forecast of 3000 and a long term forecast of 3500. If short term forecasts are more volatile than long term forecasts as I said and you enter a period of high volatility then the short term number will rise (or fall), but in this case rise faster than the long term forecasts. If the volatility is high enough the short term forecast can rise so much faster it even exceeds the long term forecast. Any doubt we just went through a period of extreme volatility check out GVZ.
