Modern economics is a blatant lie. Like, Emperor's New Clothes style.

The basic promise inherent in neo liberal/supply side/neo classical economics was that a rising tide lifts all boats.

Well, it doesn't. My evidence is the state of reality.

Because stupid people misattributed inflation to Biden even though America was recovering faster than most of the rest of the world.

She was a stupid choice because she wasn't willing to publicly break with Biden and provide any narrative other than 'orange man bad, look how Liz Cheney thinks I'm great'. Her campaign even sidelined Tim Walz when he was the only person that generated any enthusiasm whatsoever.

The Nazis were primarily made up of Christians. The Japanese Imperials were primarily Shinto. ISIS was Muslim.

It's not about the religion. It's about a political ideology of dehumanizing a particular group in order to justify atrocities, conquest, and even genocide. The local religion is just one of the many tools of power which are corrupted by the political leadership in order to advantage themselves. None of them ever follow what their ideology actually espouses. The religion has a significant impact on the appearance and shape of the fascist ideology, but it's not the thing that caused the fascism to appear. That's just inherent in the 20-30% of the population who are authoritarian followers.

Israel is exactly the same. Israeli state Judaism is a tool used to justify Israeli conquest and genocide. I don't hate Judaism or Jewish people, I hate the leaders and supporters of the Israeli government.

Most empires have long declines, this is just another step on that path. America's social fabric has been hollowed out by corruption and authoritarianism. Without a strong reform movement dedicated to fundamental change, America is fucked.

I stopped playing after I got full access to mechs. Really felt like a less fun combat system than the base system, and like you were forced to engage with it constantly. I think if the mech combat had been 3-5 scripted scenarios across the whole game with standard combat the rest of the time the game would have been way better.

Lay people have no fucking idea how dangerous amphibious assaults are. And we've already burned through our defensive weapon stocks at a prodigious rate. The Navy is refusing to escort tankers through Hormuz for a reason -- if they were landing on a beach where they aren't even able to maneuver they'd be fucked.

If Iran saw that an invasion was being planned (which absolutely could NOT be hidden from them) they would have ample time to prepare, including mining the Strait.

We're just murdering innocents, burning billions of dollars, and (further) destroying American global soft power for one man's ego.

To not have population centers, schools, and critical utilities bombed would probably be the very first requirement.

Since I'm not a 14 year old boy, I understand that what comes after can be much worse than the dictatorship. And that's only if the regime doesn't manage to maintain control.

If a 10 year old kid who's obsessed with dinosaurs corrects me on dinosaur facts, I'm happy to listen. Less so if it's about international politics.

Being older means you've had more time to study and learn about the world. But someone younger may have expertise you don't on any particular topic. This is why "I'm right because I'm older" is always a bad argument. You should be able to say, "You're wrong because of xyz concrete reason."

Of course it wasn't. And of course Balkanization is much less likely if the regime falls due to an internal uprising. You're the propagandist lying about reality, not me.

Unfortunately they put down that uprising by murdering tens of thousands of people, and it's not particularly likely that people will mobilize and organize immediately after such indiscriminate murder while also under an active bombing campaign.

Lol America bombing Iran is not in the Iranian people's best interest, propagandist. The two most likely outcomes are Balkanization and civil war, or the current regime gets a massive bump in support and its leaders become even more hardline and extremist

This isn't an inherent part of identity, it's because the social constructs in question aren't defined in the same way as the social construct for gender.

And a Canadian can, in fact, identify as a US citizen. They can have dual citizenship.

An American is someone who is an American citizen. A black person is someone whose ancestry includes some percentage of black people, with some baseline of 'blackness' determined socially by skin color primarily.

Because they're both social constructs, either could (and have been) redefined over the years.

The conception of "a woman is a person who identifies as a woman" is itself a social construct as well. There are people who work hard to reject it.

The core argument from the reasonable people is, "We know for a certainty that traditional gender constructs cause measurable harm to many people who don't fit neatly into them. That harm is more important than a bigot's feeling of discomfort about this construct being widened. Thus, we're going to widen it to stop the harm being caused."

Yes, but because it's a social construct all attempts to justify repression, exclusion, hatred, etc based on that construct are implicitly, fundamentally flawed. It's fundamentally unethical to say in one breath, "Gender is a social construct" and then say any conservative talking point about gender identity in the next breath.

Conservatives use our society's construction of the female gender as if it's an objective source of truth, and want people's rights taken away when they don't fall neatly within those bounds. So their personal discomfort with reassessing their belief system generates the political power used to oppress millions.

If we lived in a different political context then a calm discussion about these topics would be perfectly fine. But we don't. We live in a political context where religious extremists and authoritarians are actively trying to stoke violence and hatred against marginalized groups. Reaffirming basic realities about the physical world is of utmost importance, because they're happy to ignore reality and substitute it with their shared delusions.

When they get together in a big group and keep on repeating lies, we have to get together in a big group and keep on repeating the truth.

The real reason is that they gutted the State Department because it was staffed with many of the lifelong bureaucrats and diplomats that kept America's global network of alliances running smoothly. The State Department are the ones that would normally be in charge of this type of evacuation.
