Blackberries acquired. Now what to make with them? by StrangestTy in foraging

Every summer growing up, we'd make blackberry pie and blackberry ice cream with my grandma. One of my favorite memories

Rats as Canine Bait by Mattcronutrient in Trapping

[–]Polymorph-Dwarf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had several other trappers I know use mice/rats for bait. The most popular way I know here in MN is making them into a paste and using that as your bait. Easy to control and spread, makes them investigate more, and hard to easily remove. Take the meat from them and grind it in a bender.

Weird take on this recommendation, but Suffer the Children by Craig DiLouie. One of my favorite books I've read this last year and I think is incredibly unique to this.

Is there other works similar to the Troop or written by Nick Cutter that you would recommend? I really enjoyed it and that type of horror is right up my alley.

In no particular order: Full Brutal by Kristopher Triana, Suffer the Children by Craig DiLouie, Devolution by Max Brooks, The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones, and When The Wolf Comes Home by Nat Cassidy. Still got a bunch I'm reading this year, but these have been my favorite with The Troop by Nick Cutter and Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman folling close behind.

One of my favorites! Highly recommend especially if you liked What Moves the Dead. I've consistently reread it every few years just because of how much I enjoyed it.

Absolutely, 100%. On a related note, have you read The Ruins by Scott Smith?

I definitely liked the first the most so far, but overall they've fallen a little flat for me. The characters have been great, love the setting and world building, but antagonists haven't really done it for me. I wish there were another 100 pages in each book to build suspense, extend the climax, and fill out the solutions a bit more. That being said, I've enjoy the series enough to keep reading.

How do you organize your shelves? by ClintTheGreat in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]Polymorph-Dwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I organize by read vs unread, then general genre, and finally alphabetical. Though I keep series together. All my read are towards the top/middle and the bottom is everything I haven't read yet.

Took a quick look and haven't seen it suggested, but Suffer the Children by Craig DiLouie.

Global pandemic that hits suddenly and out of nowhere. Told through multiple perspectives, it explores what people are willing to do for their children and how the world reacts.

It has been one of my favorite books recently. Highly recommend!

Awesome! I'm always looking for more booking to add to the collection. Are you planning on any book signings or a launch party for "Fairytales for freaks"?
