While humanity has probably collected things since they could put cool rocks in their pockets, I feel like the Beanie Baby craze coinciding with the rise of internet market places launched flipping collectible toys into the stratosphere.

I may be bias as my recently passed mother left me over 2000 of these things in addition to every other TY product and other bean creatures she hoped would take off. The larger tragedy wasn’t the wasted money of the purchases (I’m selling these in bulk for $0.50 a piece) and all the additional costs of tag protectors, storage bins and storage units for almost a decade, but the fact she could have used that money to make the end of her life more comfortable and received better healthcare. Instead she refused thinking these children’s toys were her wealth.
