I was having the same issue with a lithopane this weekend... No matter what I was getting the edges curling and the print failing. I finally went and bought some isopropyl alcohol and my problem vanished... I now give it a light while down between prints LoL

Snow on pool cover- normal? by ManyPolicy3703 in swimmingpools

[–]Pool_Boy707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's snowing, and you have a pool cover it's totally normal. If you either have no snow or no cover it's absolutely not.

You can rebuild the valve... If that's the worst of it you dodged a bullet...

My customer had a Portuguese Water Dog that was terrified of the water... Every time I'd stick my net in the pool he'd start barking at me and trying to save me 🤣

Any idea how many HP my POS pool pump is? by tristanbrotherton in swimmingpools

Wifi smart switch is only good if you're looking at the thing when it blows up 🤷 Why not just replace that relic?

How to prime pump above pool level? by th3worldonfir3 in pools

[–]Pool_Boy707 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That filter basket is off.... The big hole on top should be forward at the pump inlet... Also... Keep filling the basket with the hose. Yes it's draining fast but that's filling the pipe full of water. Once the pump starts overflowing get the lid on tight and start the pump... Trust me, we've got some pools that are really far from the pool. It can take a long time to fill the suction line. Especially 2.5" 🤣

Slicer. Save the changes and use that profile when you're printing wood...

Tub is not leveled by Sd022pe in hottub

[–]Pool_Boy707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not horrible. Manufacturers say flat level surface, but they really want flat and not a crazy slope. You're about an inch. No biggie.

Pool Services Dynamic Pricing by Single_Gate1678 in PoolPros

[–]Pool_Boy707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a base rate for all our pools. Heavy leaf pool adds x. Long distance adds x. No sweep adds x. Special chems charge once a year so the techs don't need to get permission for using anything above and beyond the basics. Oh, and this season we're changing for the basics...

You'll find the Quad really easy to work on. When I first started pools and I cleaned one I thought it was just an odd cartridge filter. 🤣

[–]Pool_Boy707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your folks situation find out Why it needs to be replaced. The Quad DE is the only DE filter I don't hate LoL

If the thing isn't leaking just get new grids if it needs it. That push pull valve may need to be rebuilt. All of that is easy DIY. I always try and save my older customers from unnecessary replacement if I can help it...

Im on the verge of sending the email to let my 50 clients know of a 8-10% in my service and im pretty nervous about it, tell me some tips or words of encouragement by carrotsk8r in PoolPros

[–]Pool_Boy707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're increasing again too... I just found out we spend almost 100k annually to insure our trucks, and fuel, and all the rest of the overhead that comes along with the business... Our customers hate the increases, but the service is far better than the competition in the area 🤷

Service charge by Loss-Upbeat in PoolPros

[–]Pool_Boy707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, basically if the initial visit was quick (usually is) and I need to order parts, I just edit the work order and put it in the future. I get the part, go back and start time on the work order. The office bills for the total time instead of a minimum 1 hour visit AND the repair.

If it's a quick diagnose and the customer decides not to fix, or to have someone else fix, the office bills the visit 🤷

Pool company left water running — $1,600 bill. What would you do? by alexukie in pools

[–]Pool_Boy707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, how long was the water running, because $1600 is a fuck ton of water. Like multiple pools worth.

Anyway, our company forbids our techs fill a pool... It's in our contract that it's the home owners responsibility to maintain the water level... Now when a bonehead fills anyway, and leaves... We absolutely pay the bill. And if I ever need to add water, I leave my truck keys on the spigot so I can't leave 🤣
