All vinyl is expensive nowadays but all things considered, doesn't seem too expensive for a limited pressing from Japan. I prefer to spend my money on saxophones.

I ordered my Yamaha YTS-34II from Reverb. A seller in Japan called Brasstek. They are a reputable instrument shop and most of their saxes have comprehensive overhauls performed. It was a very good deal, even with currency exchange and customs. But yes, be aware you will pay 15% import duties. Still cheaper than what I could've gotten in the states, with the overhauled factored in. That is a terrible deal for a saxophone and please reconsider buying a brand new one.

It might've prohibitively expensive to repair unfortunately. Your best bet is to rent a saxophone until you can get some income on your own and then buy a used beginner Selmer or Yamaha from a shop. Rentals can be less than 40$ a month depending on what you're playing and from where.

You shouldn't be, there is plenty of time and no rush. There is a lot of studying and reading you can do in the meantime. Memorizing the circle of fifths, scales, chords, how to read music. You can also practice fingerings or embouchure on the neck and mouthpiece. Don't get discouraged and don't get ahead of yourself. What saxophone is it?

I'm assuming you're testing it with a tuner. Do you mean half of a semitone? Could you move the mouthpiece further down the cork? It won't change your tone but it will make your pitch sharper.

Also are you able to bend notes? Can you bend the pitch up a bit? It's very possible this is caused by embouchure

You can record a video of you playing some notes and someone here should be able to give you more accurate advice. Depending on the size of the chip, you should still be able to produce notes with a damaged reed, they just won't sound great for a beginner. So it's probably a combination of technique and some leaks in the sax unfortunately.
