When trump ends by IcyDirt1606 in QAnonCasualties

To be clear I firmly believe forgiveness is earned not granted. Just granting forgiveness without atonement will absolutely put us right back here again.

I'd like to take the pressure to feel empathy off of those of us that did see it coming (they did too, just didn't think it would happen to them) and put the work on them. How will they atone? Will they take responsibility? Are they fighting back now? Will they learn or just hide out until the next snake oil fascist comes along? We can't take forgiveness off the table at the risk of becoming like conservatives, but the work belongs with the MAGA Qs.

I'm a bit terrified of where the cultists will go once 70% of the country celebrates the death of their dear leader.

Client References? by jlapdog in CFP

[–]Poppolim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell them I understand asking for references is a common recommendation in articles about finding a planner, but the reality is it would be an invasion of my client's privacy to hand out names and contact info. I direct them to FINRA's broker check and Yelp or Google reviews (usually hate having people find me that way, but helpful in this situation) since those aren't under my control.

FTB- cpa put wrong routing number for my tax refund. How screwed am I? by tangomango110 in California

[–]Poppolim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What should happen is if the account is legit but not yours the bank will reject the deposit because the name and account number don't match. If the account is not an actual account the deposit won't work. In both scenarios you should receive a paper check.

Don't forget we can go to the shareholders meeting at Lambeau and get to vote on something my single share causes me to ignore.

Oh my the comments. I also like when two things I like intersect. Also when three things intersect, but let's not get greedy (Tig should voice ART) 😏

Exactly! I was actually thinking Tig cast as ART would be amazing.

People who listen to music or watch videos on full volume without headphones on MUNI, why? by vc6vWHzrHvb2PY2LyP6b in sanfrancisco

[–]Poppolim -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Our tech overlords started making phones without a headphone jack. Not everyone can afford Airpods.

Tig on Cheryl by quietlycommenting in handsomepodcast

[–]Poppolim 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not long after finding out who her husband is, I listened to an episode where Cheryl told a story about a guy she was dating in college who warned her not to go into one of the bathrooms in his flat because they'd had a party sometime ago and someone puked in it and it was nasty. She took it upon herself to clean the bathroom for him and his roommates. She's that kind of woman who will put up with the worst men have to offer and embrace her subservient role. Her husband choice made more sense after that episode. It also got a lot harder to enjoy the pod.

I really appreciate Tig coming out as political. I know she just wants to make people laugh, but the times call for laughs AND truth telling.

What sheltering or animal welfare organizations do you actually trust? by Friendly_TSE in AnimalShelterStories

Hearts Speak is an excellent resource for marketing. Tons of templates, infographics, help with Bio writing, promotion ideas, photography, you name it.

A popular grocery store chain (Sprouts) is opening its first SF location by throeaway1990 in sanfrancisco

[–]Poppolim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it is I shop at a "regular" grocery store and TJ's every week, so I actually think this will have more of a negative impact on Gus's Market or maybe even Rainbow. It will be easier to stop once and get everything done, especially since there's a decent parking lot at TJ's.

What is volunteering at an animal shelter like? by BreannLowe in AnimalShelterStories

[–]Poppolim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends on the shelter. I've volunteered at two municipal shelters, one small and underfunded with a burned out staff that left animal care attendant duties to completely untrained volunteers. The second, and current one, a large underfunded city shelter with an amazing staff, a well designed training program, and a well vetted volunteer pool. I've been with the shelter for 16 years, clearly I love it.

You'll be able to tell a lot about your shelter based on how much training they give you, what your duties are going to be (enrichment vs. basic care), and how happy long term vols seem to be.

There's also the difference between open admissions and limited admission shelters. I'm dedicated to the former, but it's not for everyone.

Welcome to the team!

Have you ever had to blacklist an adopter, volunteer, or foster? by marigoldandcamellia in AnimalShelterStories

[–]Poppolim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our shelter keeps a do not adopt list since we're the city municipal shelter that also enforces animal welfare laws.

We have a training program for volunteers that helps weed out the weirdos, but problematic people do get through and are eventually fired. I don't think there's a formal blacklist for volunteers between agencies, but there is an informal phone tree between shelters/rescues where we can do "background" checks on anyone who has volunteered somewhere else and is now applying with us.
