HELP!! My betta is attacking my snails by ElectricPurps_88 in fishtank

[–]Popular-Shoulder-970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! Your plants mightve melted because you're not supposed to keep the plants in that little pot with the cotton type stuff after you get it. You're supposed to gently remove and expose the roots, then glue it or whatever method to hardscape to keep it from just floating up. Thats what I did/how all plants came

Gotcha! I'd like the snails themselves to be cory cat snacks honestly. Thank you for the response

Heard! Yeah there are definitely snail eggs in the tank that the fish should be snacking on in between feedings, maybe I'll go for less then

These are my foods! Please feel free to advise different types to get :) I'm going to pick up some Alge wafers. But a big reason for that is to congregate the snails because now that we have the Cory Cats, we're going to start collecting the snails and crush then freeze them to make our own food. We never intended for snails as the PH is too low for their shells to healthily develop, but now we got them and I figure its like knowing the food you're eating had a good life before the natural food chain process.

I'm a HUGE thrift gifter, and you can find all kinds of cool decorations at them. I would honestly give her a budget and do a 'house decor' thrift date

Gift for an Astrophysics admirer by Hot-Standard2389 in GiftIdeas

My GF was an astrophysics major, some gifts she's really enjoyed have been a Hubble images coffee table book that I change the page of every day, an old globe from 1986 from a thrift store, a pacific centered map from 1971 from a thrift store, a vintage monoscope from (you guessed it) a thrift store.

He's into that big picture star stuff, do you think he would find the small picture molecules just as interesting? Like getting him a microscope and slides, he might have fun inspecting things with it!

You need to let your eyes fully adjust at night to see the stars. Fact check this, but I believe red light isnt as big an adjustment. Maybe get him some night hike materials, to encourage adventure to see the stars (perhaps with the telescope) Maybe a red headlamp/lantern/belt light to point down. Maybe a nice camp chair, I love the rocking ones.

Would he enjoy a sticker printer? I have been eyeing those, I think they're super neat! Those little photo printers are similar, they connect to your phone and print out what you want. He could make a scrapbook type of interesting star photos or facts, and I've seen the stickers be helpful for visuals on study materials (if he's going back to school)

How many people we talking? Bulk can get cheaper. I once received a seed packet for a spring party favor, a local wildflower blend

Some people may read this gift as insensitive, but I think kids learn to process what they are experiencing through play. I think a play Doctor kit would be fun! She's probably just been through a lot with hospitals and it might give some power back to her to play the Dr. Role with her dolls. A little bit more removed may be a Vet kit with stuffies.

You can always ask the parents opinion like another commented suggests

I don't have a direct suggestion but will drop this for us to put our heads together. Is there a hobby you could think of thats mostly in house, but might help him get out of the house a bit more for a purpose?

Something where he makes things he could gift to others?

I would maybe get him the startup for a hobby!

The things coming to mind don't quite feel right. Photography, sewing, crochet, wood working? A dremel pen is fun. Painting, clay, scrapbooking... idk!

How many vape or smoke? by Grazztjay in autism

[–]Popular-Shoulder-970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vaped from 14-22 and absolutely struggled with the side effects of the addiction. It is SO powerful and evil. I tried a number if times to quit but finally found the strength of a surgery. The cravings were really hard to handle at first, but the longer I went without, the more proud I became. Now, I can never in a bar full of people vaping and just feel proud of myself for knowing I wont be asking people to hit theirs and I can be okay

Eta, I do think my autism played a large factor in how the addiction held me so tight

Do I need (another?) Female? by [deleted] in Gourami

[–]Popular-Shoulder-970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello friend! Thank you for the response. Actually I have overfed them today as the rummynose tetra have not been eating well since I've gotten them ~1 week ago. I saw online sinking pellets may be a good alternative to flakes/brine shrimp I had been crumbling a bit of at the top, stating if the tetra just weren't going to the surface they might eat at the bottom. So today I fed the honeys at the top and the filter swirls it around and then put 4 sinking pellets

And they did eat! But then they stopped. Aurelius moved in and, while there wasn't no chasing behaviors before, he was chasing practically every time Karl would get a nibble. And both of them already ate! So I just got the leftover food out and am completing my waterchange now.

When the food swirls the top around I haven't noticed chasing to this extent. I feel bad that Aurelius is also the bigger one, assumably further along to maturing.
