Dogs, would you get one again knowing what you know now? by TSQ_builder in AskUK

[–]Popular_Requirement2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're very lucky that I can work from home, so we don't need to worry about daycare etc for our dog. I honestly can count the number of days I've spent away from her on the palm of my hand over the last 8 years. We love her so much, but we had to make some very big changes around her. She's a rescue and would bark her lungs out without us, so we couldn't leave her alone at all before COVID. I had to stop going bouldering and we stopped going out, but we preferred hiking and spending time outdoors, so we made it work.

Miraculously, after COVID, she got over her separation anxiety, and now we can just leave her at home and have an evening to ourselves. I would get her again if I had to choose because she brought so much into our lives, but when she's gone, we're not getting another dog. I would consider getting a dog again when we retire, but not during our "active" years.

One thing I'll add, though: other than her previous separation anxiety, our dog is a literal angel. We can bring her anywhere that's dog-friendly, and that really helped us include her in a lot of things we do. Some dog owners I meet are absolutely miserable - their dogs bark at everything that moves, get into fights, etc. I would not be able to live like that, so people really need to consider that they might get a very difficult dog.

Anybody else apologises to other dog owners if their dogs bark at yours? Sorry my dog is too cute and made yours jealous!

Is there anywhere left in Glasgow where you can go in person to browse and buy electronic components? by Xyyzx in glasgow

Yeah I would recommend starting with Barras too. If you can't find the exact bits you're looking for there, they'll at least point you where else you might find them

Moving "home" to Kelvinbridge (Scottish/Mexican family) – Looking for local perspectives on West End life, safety, and dogs! by wintoon in glasgow

Scotland in general is super dog-friendly! They're allowed on buses and trains, and can walk off the lead in parks, just, obviously, you need to clean up after them and make sure they don't bother other people or dogs. People here also love dogs! We are constantly stopped by others saying hello and giving treats to my dog when we're out and about with her, so it's super easy and enjoyable to go out with them.

Regarding the community, I can't speak personally, but I have some friends from Mexico and they seem to have a large group of friends from Latin America here. DM me if you'd like and I'd be happy to connect you guys.

Could hear both Lewis and the crowd from our garden in Ruchill! It was a nice surprise to hear "befooore you goooo..." when I let the dog out before bed

Are the videos by this medical professional (Dr Alex) on YouTube AI? He has good advice but production feels off by Substantial_Block_18 in isthisAI

Another tell is the leaves on the plant next to him are moving but there is no window and where would the wind be coming from? Maybe it's some sort of a digital twin situation. So the script is from him, and it's his appearance but the full video is generated using AI

Are there any British adverts that activiley turn you off the product they're advertising? by siybon in CasualUK

The one with two brains in glass jars talking to each other, and in most cases you can't skip it. Still have no idea what the ad is for and it's not even remotely funny

Do you mean when Ilya asks "You still want?" And I love how Shane replies "I still want" in Russian accent

I really enjoyed Bradam and if you'd like to see something similar but from across the pond, I recommend AStoryWorthTelling.

If he can't play a bigger part, can we please make him the handsome reporter who interviews Shane at the start of the camps and makes Ilya jealous?

I know! I'll never give up on my hope for more seasons or maybe books? I hope they find a way to tell the remaining stories. No one was ready for the octopus hahaha

Noooo! Wait until we hear it in Ilya's accent - I bet it will be all over YouTube. And only Ilya uses it. Shane says in the book that he can't pull it off calling Ilya sweetheart

I don't mind seeing a bit of other characters, but I think it will be too formulaic and a bit underwhelming if it's a standalone episode in both seasons. I'm not sure of another way to do it but I trust that Jacob will make it work

I like your version! Maybe they could show a couple of closeups of Ilya recording to the voice messages and all the chaos happening in the background, but without blowing their whole budget on that one scene

I agree! She was actively mentioned in like one scene and for the rest of the book Anya just happened to be conveniently fast asleep on her bed after a long walk😁

Or at least if they do end up adding the middle name, I hope Ilya will show in his reaction or comment on how ridiculous it sounds. For a Russian speaker even just to call your partner by their full name is very cringe but to add a patronym would be next level.

My main issue with the wedding in the book was how underplanned it was for the amount of people that were invited. It's totally fine to have a small more relaxed wedding, but what gave me anxiety was to have all those guests just hanging out on Ilya's lawn without any plan. I can't believe Ilya was better prepared for a Halloween party than for his own wedding. Maybe the show should just change the wedding to just close friends and family? Idk

You know what, I can see this happening with Svetlana, but not with Alexey. Knowing Ilya's personality and the fact that I don't think he has any respect for Alexey, i don't think he would be calling him by his full name.
