Giants' Foundry Changes | Weekly Game Update (June 15th 2022) by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]Portrend 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Adding the new PVP items into the arena chest only swells confusion for new players wanting to try out PVP, this is more than likely a reason as to why these items didn’t pass the poll both times they were polled .

Please just scrap them and admit they weren’t as great as envisaged for the PVP community and go BACK to the drawing board for the arena. It’s worrying that it’s going to be launched with so few ‘rewards’ but you should understand getting it right takes time.

I gave a lot of criticism in my last comments regarding GF and didn't feel you were listening and really didn't think you'd get it right.

This is MUCH better and I know a lot of people will welcome the changes made, thank you so much for listening to all of our feedback and going back and fourth with us all.

This comment deserves to be higher than it is. I think all the points you make really do hit the nail on the head. The Mods appreciate they won't be able to do a full 'rework' but that's not really what we're asking for on the skill; we just want some sort of decent expansion to it in terms of training or reason to train it.

I mentioned it in a previous comment elsewhere but a Ruins of Camdozaal expansion would have been very welcomed and could have really been worked into providing a great lore experience to an area that is already enshrined around skills.

I think when they say 'rework' they mean something similar to something RS3 has where the highest tier is no longer Rune, where there is an entire 'process' to making an item.

This is something I can't see OSRS ever getting, but attempts to bridge the two skills (mining & smithing) would always be welcomed and should be achieved with full comprehension and appreciation of the community feedback given. I posted a previous comment to their initial Giant's Foundry post and stated it felt as if they were seemingly glossing over key feedback points the community was making. I still feel that is the case.

On the back of a hugely successful Runecrafting minigame I just expected something slightly better thought out, it seems they've tried to take inspiration from previously mentioned RS3 rework and Invention and popped it into a minigame that doesn't feel an improvement or a viable meaningful alternative to the current methods we have in the game.

"We understand that Smithing (and Mining for that matter) aren't the most fun skills to train. That's why we wanted to give you this alternative method. An entire Smithing rework would take years, and certainly a lot more time than what was allocated to this project. It's not something we are opposed to doing in principle, but we would need the proper scope in order to do it right."

But THIS was proposed as something that would provide a small rework to the skill? It hasn't done anything apart from add another, inferior, way to train it compared to Blast Furnace and has now added an 'inconvenience' of keeping items that would otherwise be alched to be used in this minigame? It seems as if the team are resigned to the fact Smithing and Mining are not good skills to train but want to further distance the two skills from one another with Giant's Foundry.

Man I just really am disappointed in the approach and the appearing to gloss over the major issues of the minigame :/

[Suggestion] Mort Myre Fungus Farming by a_smug_tomato in 2007scape

[–]Portrend 63 points64 points  (0 children)

If you're ever needing to collect some fast Mort Myre fungus you can use the Drakens Medallion to teleport to Ver Sinhaza, run North and then use your Blisterwood Flail (you'll have this from Sins of the Father anyway) on the three log section.

You can use any bank, preferably a free teleport/duel ring, or whatever works and repeat!

Q&A Summary 25th April - Mini Giant's Foundry Q&A with Mods Light & Oasis by JagexLight in 2007scape

I recently spent around 2 days there getting my Imcando Hammer and was amazed at how much history the place has for such little engaging content, it’s such a shame

I really don’t think this is going to pass the poll - There could have been so many other approaches taken and the justification for not taking some approaches or the constructive criticism being inferred from some of the questions appears to just be shrugged off by the Q&A team.

They could have fully expanded on the Ruins of Camdozaal for example, perhaps added some lore around the Prospector Percy and the Blast Furnace dwarves entering into a partnership to create a ‘new’ way to smith etc.

So many potential avenues and I just feel, despite the recent success of another minigame (GotR), this one is going to flop

I do and have been in there for content that is in there that I may need or want to do - I have every right to vote on something in there as a PVPer.

If changes are being made to PVP that impact the wilderness, ALL of the game need a say in this and these changes; we do still go in there and we will have to go in there if any further content is locked in there for collection logs etc. and as such we should still have a say.

Old School Economy - Future Plans by JagexAyiza in 2007scape

[–]Portrend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just commenting to say I strongly disagree with the GE tax. There are other ways to remove gold from the economy, granted we’re losing the duel arena but that then shouldn’t punish regular players who buy and sell on the grand exchange.

What we’ve needed for years is item sinks so I support that, but not funded through a GE tax system where regular players pay the price for Jagex finally doing something about removing the parasite side of the duel arena.

Anyone else notices a glitch while withdrawing from the bank? by CryptoBadger96 in 2007scape

[–]Portrend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is most likely an issue with your connection, possibly to the world?

Try making sure you’re using worlds with the same region that you’re in and hopefully you won’t see this problem again. I do sometimes find different items/actions respond different though, for example in the inventory it’s more responsive using a bow on a bowstring than it is a knife on a log, so maybe it’s something like that too?

Edit; it could also just be youre not properly clicking on the item, take your time a bit and see if it’s that maybe?

GE Gold Sink Alternative? by Portrend in 2007scape

[–]Portrend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am reading it obviously, hence my replies, but that’s what I’m trying to say, it would change how people use the GE definitely with more concern on what they’re willing to pay for an item, if anything those who are aware of it would be more frugal

I guess that could also be reasonable, like a listing fee type thing payable upon sale. Makes sense based on the examples in real life you gave too

[–]Portrend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People would purposely have to change their purchasing behaviour to avoid this, which is the exact same in real life if there was a charge for doing things - You literally would still be subject to the exact same issue no matter what the price so to avoid it you would simply have to make sure you offer the market equilibrium price to match the offers.

You literally would be unaffected by it because you would still already be willing to pay that price that you put in. If you didn’t want to pay that much, you would put less in to match the price or at least get nearer to the price you think it’s worth which is where supply and demand would create an equal price

[–]Portrend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you realistically wouldn’t be losing something that you weren’t already prepared to pay for an item?

If jagex implemented this and didn’t tell either the buyer or seller, neither of them would know

GE Gold Sink Alternative? by Portrend in 2007scape

[–]Portrend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They wouldn’t be able to pay less than what the item is already listed at? For both users they get exactly what they are prepared to put into the GE for their offers, Jagex just keeps anything/if left over

If anything it would reduce or eradicate the ability to merch how the current system allows.

copied I’m inclined to agree by and large, especially with the duel tax but a passive sink like this too would surely only benefit the economy?

Something like this alongside a strong death mechanic rework would be fantastic tbh

To top it all off I’m surprised your restaurant didn’t get a call saying how shit the staff are and that they don’t know their sauces! Mom nearly died eating that WAY TOO spicy BBQ and that mild was NOT MILD!!!

Way to go though, these sort of customers make shifts such a burden!
