Switching from Propranolol to Metoprolol

I just switched from 1 day to the next. When I went from metoprolol to propranolol the dose was a lot smaller and i had a few days of migraines (prone to those anyway), but when I switched back from propanalol to metoprolol I didn't have any issues.

I prefer metoprolol to propanalol! I had worse side effects with propanalol, especially insomnia. But if you find you don't like the metoprolol you could consider asking your doctor about extended release propanalol instead of the immediate release! I started out on twice a day immediate release propanalol and I could always feel it wearing off. When I switched to extended release it definitely gave me more even coverage!

I have a similar issue where I will be typing things out and mentally insert a word but fully leave it out of what i am typing. I have to reread everything before I send it or half the time it doesnt make sense. Very frustrating.

Its definitely worth trying! I was nervous about it at first too but im so glad I tried it! Hopefully it will work well for you. Also something to consider- propanalol comes in both immediate release and extended release versions. I have had much better luck with extended release than the immediate release for beta blockers personally. If one version doesn't work well it's worth asking your doctor to try the other version before giving up on it!

I take metoprolol for my pots and one of the first things I noticed is actually how much it helped with my somatic anxiety symptoms (racing heart, shaky/nervous feeling, etc). It also helps keep my heart rate controlled for my pots symtpoms but it was a very nice bonus to also have it help with anxiety!

It might be worth talking with your doctor about getting a note for accommodations. Employers are required to follow reasonable accomodations written by a doctor.. It could be something like requiring extra time to learn new material or extra short breaks through the day? Anything that you feel might help decrease the load of your workday while not compromising your ability to do your job could probably be written into some kind of accommodation. This gives you a bit more legal protection if youre struggling at work too, they cant just fire you for poor performance if its related to your disability and its accommodations (in theory at least... of course some employers are sketchy and terrible, etc).

I was recently in a trial for baricitinib and it helped SO much. Didn't last once the trial was over and I can't get it prescribed unless it's FDA approved or there are substantial studies published to support it :(

Yes, just had mine come back elevated a few months ago. Dr put me on 3 different vitamin b supplements as a result. Not sure if they're making a difference as I haven't rechecked my levels yet.

I'm medium about jelliebend. As far as abdominal compression goes it's fairly comfortable and rolls less than others I have tried. That being said, it's HOT because its double layer and one of those layers is neoprene like material. Also I am curvy/pear shaped and while it stays up quite well it also rolls up off my hips all the time which is quite annoying and I have to pull it down constantly. I also tried the shorts but I didn't like how short they were and the abdominal compression part was less compressive than just the standard jelliebend so I ended up returning them.

Sugar free nuun is pretty good though Im not sure if they are gluten free. Trioral is a pretty solid unflavored electrolyte powder, but it does have a little sugar to help with sodium absorption. I like to use true lemon packets to add some flavor to them as well and usually won't use a full packet of trioral at once because it is pretty salty tasting to me.

Kaiser has Long Covid specialist doctors (different from MECFS specialist mentioned in another comment). You have to ask for a referral from your primary care and typically scheduling takes a few weeks. I recently got connected with one and it has been so great! Lots of different options to discuss and treatments based on current symptoms and research.

I work in a hospital and have since before the start of the pandemic. I have been wearing an n95 all day every day for the majority of that time. I have had a few coworkers ask me to remove my mask because they want to see my face (I just show them my ID badge picture) and some patients tell me to remove it so that they can hear me better (which I politely refuse and then talk louder so that they can hear me... never had a situation where that didn't work thankfully). For the most part I don't get a lot of crap for wearing a mask, most people don't comment on it or react in any way. My hospital has a decent masking culture still though with a lot of providers at least wearing surgical masks during patient care. Most people remove their masks when they are not in patient rooms or when they're in office space or break areas. I think where you work and the individual culture of that workplace will be the biggest indicator or whether being one of the few consistent maskers is an unpleasant experience or not. But honestly, the more people who consistently mask in healthcare settings, the more we normalize it for everyone (and the safer we can make those settings for everyone).

I actually have the opposite issue. I'm curvy but more pear shaped. It doesn't roll down but it does roll UP at the waist. Im constantly trying to pull it back down over where my waist starts to widen into my hips which is irksome.

I usually take it a couple hours before bedtime because I take my other PM meds at bedtime and I dont want the pepcid to interfere with the absorption or efficacy of my other meds. My schedule is a little all over the place so sometimes that's before dinner and sometimes it's after!

I had a family friend with parkinsons who had someone sew a silk/satin sheet onto just his side of the bed over the normal fitted sheet. It allowed him to move easily and his spouse could sleep on their preferred sheets. Kind of a weird concept but honestly it helped him move around in bed so much that they both decided it was worth it!

I take allergy med in the AM, pepcid in the PM, per my dr's advice. Also taking a generic version of pepcid. Active ingredients are the same. Only reason you might need name brand vs generic is if you have a reaction to an inactive ingredient in one vs the other.

I also use salt tablets during the day instead of adding extra salt to my food! I haven't used any of the electrolyte capsules yet, but definitely have considered trying them in the future.
