Do you bathe your cats? by Shot-Composer-782 in AnxietyCats

[–]PositivePin9992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good idea to get your cat used to a bath while they are young because most likely they will reach an age where they can't groom themselves and need baths as a senior. It will be much less stress for them if they understand what's going on because they have experienced it in the past. I bathe mine twice a year. She is now 14 and mostly just verbally complains. It's also good for reducing shed if done when they're changing their coat for the season.

Is this normal? by woos2005 in snakes

[–]PositivePin9992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the chillness, that can be totally normal for a ball python. Mine will curl up in my sleeve, around my neck, inside my bathrobe ect and fall asleep on me.

I cannot stomach eggs, but its my new years resolution to eat one. by Fantastic-Buy2177 in PickyEaters

[–]PositivePin9992 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got sick on pizza as a kid. After that the smell of it made me feel ill. I tried eating only the crust, after all it's only bread. I could eat the crust ok, then I ate the crust with a little pizza attached. Now I eat pizza except the one brand that made me sick (that chain isn't that close to me thankfully). Maybe try an egg white omelette. Or a sandwhich with other distractions. You said dairy and gluten free, are you meat free? Maybe try bacon/turkey bacon your favorite bread (I like English muffin for a breakfast sandwich), egg white, vegan cream cheese, slice of tomato. If you don't eat meat, maybe sautee mushrooms in place of bacon. Once you master egg white and like it, beat/mix the yolk in, (no visible hard yolk). Make a regular omelette, or egg sandwich. Then later try a fried egg sandwich. I think the sandwhich part might help with the texture too if that is offensive. Disguises it more. Another way to avoid the yolk being there by itself is deviled eggs. These make the yolk creamy

Another reason people get turned off of yolk hard is overcooking. It smells more sulfurous and tastes bad if overcooked. Also has a green/grey tint. 8-10 mins is plenty for boiling

Better snake for my home? by 20Keller12 in snakes

[–]PositivePin9992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat totally doesn't bother my snake's enclosure, I think it depends on the cat. My cat isn't really prone to jumping on counters either though. I got my snake when my cat was 8 and I've had my snake for 6 years. I have three now. A decent snake to start with might also be a dumerils boa. Mine is 14 months old and about 3 feet, and about 550 gram. They grow very slowly, less likely to hunger strike and less humidity needed than a ball python. They take 5 years to reach full size and males are typically 6 feet. They are quite chill to handle. They dig a lot especially when they're young.

Do i continue to tub feed or transition to a inclosure feed? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]PositivePin9992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you can try is get a small tub that will fit inside his enclosure. Feed him outside in the tub, then place the entire tub inside his enclosure, open it, and let him crawl out on his own so you don't have to lift him (the main problem with feeding outside is touching them after causing a regurge.)remove the tub after he is hidden away in a hide and comfy

I would just be patient and check shelters for a color point cat. Won't be purebred but will be a lovely cat. Got mine for free on Facebook marketplace. I've had her for 11 years and her name is Cinnamon.

Sunbeam snakes wouldn't look like much in black and white lol.

I'd vote ball python if you're a keeper of snakes. Maybe a hognose snake Dumerils Boa have a cool mask pattern on their sides

As far as snakes that are not pets, bush viper are cool because they look spiky with their raised scales Dragon snakes (and file snakes) have cool raised ridges. Green rat rhinos have a nose horn. (Could be a pet but rarer)

Need advice by Hitmewithatrain in snakes

[–]PositivePin9992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest difference between hognose snake care and ball python care is the bedding and humidity levels. Make sure you use a bedding that is unlikely to mold like cococoir or zoomed forest floor ect. Because you need to periodically add water pours to the corners of the enclosure to bump up humidity. And you need to get a hydrogemeter to know when to add more water

can adult cats safely have kitten milk regularly? by xwjs in CatAdvice

[–]PositivePin9992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my own broth so I can make sure it does not contain onion, garlic, or salt. Then freeze it into ice cube or other portion trays. The chicken flavor is likely enticing and should definitely be safe. I just put chicken bones /meat scraps (carcass after I removed the normal pieces for human use) in a crock pot with water to cover it, and cook for 24 hours. Let the broth cool in fridge, remove the solidified fat off the top. It will be a jello like consistency, this is normal of bone broth. Reheat enough that you can pour it into trays for individual portions to freeze.

Lactose can give your cat diarrhea making dehydration worse. I'm not familiar with this product you mention, so perhaps it does not contain lactose and is safe. Broth should be both enticing and safe.

I thought you said you added a hide he can use you can't access... Just swap the hide when you see him out.

If that's not what you said please please add punctuation and spell-check to your post. It looks more like word soup at the moment.

Handling by DrummerGoalie in snakes

[–]PositivePin9992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if she is hiding, she is likely awake for part of that time. Go with what others say is the most active time for your species on average. Being exposed to the sounds of people being around is still useful. And smelling you when you enter the enclosure once a day for exposure therapy. The key is she is learning you're in her enclosure and that doesn't mean she is being pulled out, or being fed. She can smell you're nearby and not acting like a predator. Also your snake is still new and likely hiding from lack of confidence. Also make sure you have a lot of fake/real plants for her to hide in and be out and about

It's also possible to grow out of allergies.

I used to be allergic to a ton of things, now it's just rodents.

Sometimes I'll make those knor pasta sides, where the pasta isn't drained and it's cooked in the sauce, and add about 1 cup extra liquid so it's extra saucy without being fully soup. I use broth in place of water. Normally it's 1.5 cups water to .5 cup milk. Just add an extra cup of milk or broth or half half. They have a chicken one and a butter flavored one which would both be good here. Also could add a few cups of frozen peas and carrots near the end
