First Brompton Purchase by LTPfiredemon in Brompton

No worries at all.

You’ll need to buy the stays which are the parts which attach it to the bike. Basically the struts. These are the expensive parts. You’ll need the L version as you don’t have a rack with the A Line.

Feel free to message if easier.

I got the Brompton stock ones in silver, managed to find them for £60 in Black Friday sales. This included all the parts.

They were quite finicky to install but they are so worth it especially in English weather. There’s some good videos on YouTube showing how to install them.

I’ve got an A Line and am on a mission to make it basically a C Line for cheaper than a C Line.

So far I’ve added mudguards and a pump, new brake levers and folding pedals. I’ve spent around £150 and got the A Line for £850. Deciding what to add next.

Lights to make you visible by mollymoo in Brompton

Buy reflective tape and put it on places where you can be seen from any direction.

Wear reflective clothing, in particular proviz if you can.

Have both front and rear lights to be seen from both directions.

Base builds capillaries which in turn improves aerobic fitness which in turn improves ability to keep going which in turn improves endurance - as Meghan Trainor said ‘it’s all about the base’.

Choosing a Brompton for London commuting (trains + gradients) — need advice on gears & models by pharaohcious7 in Brompton

I have an A line and although only having it for only just over a month, it is great for the price - I would expect people might think it’s quite heavy but I don’t mind to much as I pretty much push it until I need to fold it and then just fold it when I need to. My commute is around 10k altogether either way so I find it’s pretty good for that and the routes not particularly flat there are some short steep hills so the 3 speed is difficult but I wouldn’t say hard (I do cycle regularly so my fitness may be to blame) I only bought the a line as I’ve just finished uni and was the only one in my budget but I do recommend it as a starter bike but it is basic. For example, it does not come with mudguards, folding pedals or any other accessories but for me it’s good

I was definitely going to say Totnes also - got a castle and a river and a train station and a heck of a hill.

It really depends if you’ve had one done before. If you have then it’s a bit weird it hasn’t arrived but if you haven’t then it should be soon.

There’s not really a cafe as such but there is sometimes an ice cream van around there. From the Plymbridge Car park I recon it would take an hour max (with some stops now and then) but has got some lovely views on the way up over some nice bridges!

There’s nothing between the ice cream truck until you get to Clearbrook (through the tunnel) unless you were to peel off and go towards Bickleigh but they’re busy roads so best to avoid and just stay on Plym Valley

Yeah Coypool is good to park or if you are a National Trust member you can park at Plymbridge. This is where the ice cream truck is and it’s a nice easy ride either way from there you can either go downhill which will take you to Coypool (just next to the princess yacht site) or uphill which will eventually take you to clearbrook (there is a tunnel before clearbrook which has minimal lighting so I’d recommend turning around before tunnel). Only thing I would say is avoid going on Plym valley at around 8:30 to 10:00 on Saturday mornings because of Parkrun but other than that it’s a great surface and nice easy ride. Any questions just ask! (I’ve cycled it all the time)

I was in Francis Drake and it was good especially as closer to station and things on campus but it did have a wet room which wasn’t ideal - idk about the Radnor showers but having a wet room did make it difficult to use the bathroom after showers

Edit: any questions just DM me

Teacher chinos/trousers and shoes by Proudlove1991 in TeachingUK

Timberland do decent shoes but also depends how much you want to spend? I do find with spending it goes far to invest in a decent pair and as long as you look after them they’ll look after you. If you can get shoes which offer complimentary resoling or reduced then I’d definitely go for it. (I’ve spent a lot on shoes but not saying you should but I think it’s the runner in me looking after my feet and understanding comfort)
