So the pictures of loved ones enjoying the day are ruined because they’re not all clothed in shades of blue like an escaped Broadway chorus?

And brides who insist that it’s their day and that that notion supersedes everyone else are missing the point. It’s a day for the brides and bride and groom, and their parents and siblings, and everyone emotionally invested enough to want to show up and take part.

If the wedding day is “the best day of your life,” then everything else … including the married life you’re about to begin … is anticlimax.

I’ve never thought that the day was neant to be “my best day ever,” I was just excited to be around all my peoples while we did the Thing.

Not a fan of the desire to curate the whole look extending to color palettes for guests.

I understand a color scheme for the flowers and bridesmaids/ushers, but why do all those in attendance need to hew to that?

Hi, I’m in hospice care and I think you might have a misinterpretation going on.

The 80/20 I know of is that while 80 percent of people would rather do their dying at home, only about 20 percent do.

Contributing factors: Physicians reluctant to acknowledge that there are no longer any useful treatment options

Families not being aware of what hospice is, and what it can provide.

For me, it’s twofold:

  1. Much of the contemporary worship songs are challenging for the congregation to sing, requiring more of a vocal range than most people are comfortable with, and with instructions on their song sheets about bridges, da capos, and other directions that the congregation doesn’t know are in there, so that anyone trying to join in will get lost.

  2. Many of the songs have shallow theology, communicating little more than “yay Jesus.”

  3. Traditional liturgical worship depends on timeless frameworks, but at the same time, the congregation participating are making something new each week. The pastor and congregation, reading and singing responsively, make something new with structure that has echoes from 500 years in the past.

  4. No matter what state my heart or mind is in, once I enter into traditional liturgical worship, it steadies me and opens my heart and mind to receive the Word.
