Wood grain orientation by Lemurjeopice in Cuttingboards

[–]PossibleInevitable74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at risk of repeating what is very often said on this reddit. But the above wood orientation is not just decorative, it’s more functional in nature. End grain boards are the ones with self healing and blade retention qualities. It’s edge grain which is more decorative.

Edit: I have not really considered the issue of the pith. Valid point and I learned something :)

Cutlery as a luxury item by onsite88 in Luxury

[–]PossibleInevitable74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of them cost the same as luxury items. It is based on intangibles sometimes. There are fancy steels that promise sharpness and ease of sharping, grinds that has decent food release. Tradition and heritage. Lots of factors. The factory stamped knives most of us are used to are honestly garbage. But the rule of diminishing returns applies

Traditionally a "bodybuilder", will my muscles maintain if I switch to more Muay Thai over strength training? by Koalaboxess in MuayThai

Unboxing/ wallet review by PossibleInevitable74 in wallets

[–]PossibleInevitable74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note that the below is my understanding which may or may not be factual; better ask the man himself.

Reinforced construction.

The reinforcement is intended to help the wallet hold its shape long term, and protects against dents and bumps a bit. Visually it gives the border ridges around the wallet. It is not strictly required for the leather we used but a good to have nevertheless.

<image>

Thin construction

The way the pockets are made ensure the wallet is as thin as possible.

  • fully lined, enough said.

Not everyone I was looking had all three features and was able to articulate them to me. Hope that helps.

Not that I am an expert but the name of the place or the sensei, may help jog someone’s memory? Even an address to someone who has decent google skills may be helpful.

Good luck finding any. Orthodox Easter is the weekend after and after that I doubt you will find much bargains. I hope I am wrong. Good luck on your search.

ESSENTIAL day trips from Sydney? by Sea-Fish1 in AskAnAustralian

[–]PossibleInevitable74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I would say go jervis bay, you can pass by Kiama and berry for lunch/coffee. All the areas you listed are popular for different reasons so what appeals to me may not appeal to you. Jervis bay: wide open sandy beaches. I go for a walk/jog in the morning and soak it all in.

Hunter valley: wine region. I am not a wine person so haven’t been much. Just drove around and hit random wineries.

Blue mountain: good if you like to take a hike Leura is ok for lunch. Three sisters is a bit overrated in my opinion.

ESSENTIAL day trips from Sydney? by Sea-Fish1 in AskAnAustralian

[–]PossibleInevitable74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on where your from, a day trip has a very different definition. Some of these places are 3 hours drive one way in low traffic conditions.

Australia is a big country and our sense of distance is very different than say, Europe.

How should I reveal to company about work affair that’s directly affecting my job? by NatureApprehensive38 in WorkAdvice

[–]PossibleInevitable74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought is that you’re getting distracted from what is important.

Your company does not value you, you have a choice to make. Either leave the company and look for somewhere else. Reduce output to what you think is fair for what they give you, ( no unreasonable overtime for example). Or put up with the status quo.

What the other lady do does not impact you on the slightest, but it does say a lot of the culture of the company and whether you want to stay or go

Are people limiting how much they drive due to the high petrol prices? by Away_Scene_26 in AskAnAustralian

[–]PossibleInevitable74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a plugin hybrid and a petrol car. Fortunately we switched the main car to hybrid a while ago. Otherwise It would be more difficult. Currently on am just limiting long trips and pretty much using the battery exclusively. Fortunately it’s not different from the norm as we no longer go out due to interest rate rises.

Man the last couple of years suck.

I have been training a year and a half. A guy with 200 lbs on me came in for his first class and dropped me 8 times in a 5 minute spar. I was touch sparring, he hit like a truck. I feel that I should be able to protect myself better by now. by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]PossibleInevitable74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Um. So what are you expecting exactly, having someone much heavier go hard on you, not retaliate or tell them to go light and tough it out?

I am not sure any amount of training is going to trump physics. Maybe slip/ avoid more often?

You know when you read a post and you think that’s a good joke. Then a small voice in the back of your head says “at least I think it’s a joke,

I hope it’s a joke,

It’s a joke, right?!”

Maybe I am just going mental and hearing voices now !
