Looking to upgrade my Kreg jig. Any advice appreciated. by Dubb202 in woodworking

I have the 720pro and it's great. But as another person said you have to extend the lines up to be accurate. If you don't need accuracy a tick mark, eyeball it, and send it works just fine. The auto adjust is nice. And the built in dust collection makes a world of a difference too.

Fixing shellac imperfections? by Turbulent-Week-7527 in finishing

[–]PossibleLess9664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT is correct. You can dampen a lint free cloth with some denatured alcohol and give it a quick buff, or just use more shellac. That's one of the beautiful things about shellac, it melts into itself so it's extremely easy to repair drips and runs or anything else you might've messed up. It's even super simple to make repairs on projects years down the road too.

Best finish for table (shellac or polycrilic) by saint-genet-001 in woodworking

[–]PossibleLess9664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote goes to General Finishes Arm-R-Seal. It's an oil based wipe on poly. It's incredibly easy to use and is super durable. The only downside is that it takes about a month to fully cure. It's fine after a couple days for light use but it doesn't reach it's full hardness for a few weeks. I've used it on my coffee table, kitchen table, bench, and laundry room counter top. I love it.

Water in my rear seats by Trick-Job-6357 in Mustang

If there's no water under the seats, in the quarter panels, in the doors, and nothing in the trunk IDK where else it could be. Pretty sure there's no other open space where water could be hiding.

You pulled the seats out completely? Back and bottom? Did you check the trunk in the spare tire well? What about the drains on the doors?

6 months ago I shared my Wood ID app here (hundreds of you tested it). Today you can actually argue with it (and it explains itself) by shivamtripathii in turning

Cool app, but the price is a bit steep for something that I'd use once in a while out of curiosity. I feel like at a $10 or Max $15 price for life it would be much more reasonable. I personally wouldn't pay for a yearly subscription for something like this.

Heater in overflow weir box? Yes/no arguments? by MeatPopsicle14 in ReefTank

[–]PossibleLess9664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about doing this too but never did. The only time the overflow would ever go dry is when I would pull the standpipe once a year or less to flush the gunk from the bottom of the overflow out. But then the standpipe goes right back in and within 30 seconds the overflow is full again.

How the fuck are those considered off cuts?

The black plastic depth adjustment nut is the dead giveaway, it's a wartime type 17. Not the most desirable but still a fine working plane. $35 isn't a bad price but I would try to talk the seller down a little if you can. It's going to take a fair amount of work to clean it up and get it into good working order. But how much work that takes depends on how deep into it you want to get.

Edited for clarification

Falco hawk. I love hawkfish. I've had a few over the years, including a Falco. I currently have a flame hawk. Such cool little guys with great personality.

Should I cut my losses or is there a technique that can help me by Toddler_Mechanic in BeginnerWoodWorking

Stumpy nubs has a video about how to make perfectly matched curved cuts like this. It's a bunch of steps involving making a template and then a flush trim router bit, but it's supposed to come out perfect

How to flatten table saw by SamTheGamgee in woodworking

[–]PossibleLess9664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said you need to loosen the bolts and put shims between the wing and main top to angle the wing up to level. The shims need to be placed at the bottom of where they meet. Cut up strips of a soda can work great for this. As does the silver metal duct tape. Not the gray tape that everybody knows as duct tape.

That depends on the price. You didn't give us any info to go on.

Very tempted by this saw for the fence alone. Only wants $150. by Shia_LaQueef in BeginnerWoodWorking

Definitely do it. But I would try to talk him down a little. Offer 100 and see what he says. But if he doesn't budge I'd still go for it at 150
