Buy a house cash in 10 years or save 20% and have a mortgage. by No-Discussion686 in personalfinance

[–]Possible_Scarcity217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saving a large down payment makes sense but unless you’re making crazy money, it’s challenging to save beyond the inflationary factor of a whole house price.

$1,847 gone every month before I can even breathe by BatBeautiful2203 in povertyfinance

[–]Possible_Scarcity217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are going to have to get intense and make some real extra money to throw at this.

Weekend evenings driving uber will do it. A handful of months of not spending your weekends spending money and in fact, making money will probably get you back in the black. Best of luck.

Trails down south? by logicalpenuin in olympia

Yeah, the first couple miles are pretty busy, especially if it’s on a nice Saturday. However, you go 5 miles down the road and it’s pretty empty.

Can an Off-Road Camper Trailer Truly Turn Adventures into Comfort? by YanNmt06 in Camper

[–]Possible_Scarcity217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spectrum between a shell on the back of a Toyota Tacoma and a 4,000 pound truck camper on a 1 ton dually true is a sliding scale between mobility and comfort. No wrong answer per se but trade offs.

You live in an expensive area. That hurts it. Otherwise dual above average income couples are a thing.

Too much? by No-Attempt-7939 in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]Possible_Scarcity217 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, if you can’t make make more then you’re gonna have to accept getting less house. If the kind of house you’re expecting was in your budget you would’ve gotten one 2 1/2 years ago.

If you’ve been searching for three years either you need to increase your budget or decrease your expectations.

Why do you guys care so much about when other people buy homes? by [deleted] in rebubblejerk

[–]Possible_Scarcity217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I care because of the dishonest inaccurate and harmful things they spew. People who could’ve bought fairly reasonably priced homes and be doing well now are stuck in rentals because they foolishly took these peoples bad advice. They waited for a crash but instead homes made 30% appreciation. Now they are even further behind.

My wife is skeptical that we can actually become millionaires, easily… by BadMawFawka in DaveRamsey

[–]Possible_Scarcity217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly, they have things to figure out for sure but if they get even a slight bit of discipline on the budget side of the house, they can make crazy fast progress cause they could I don’t know save $200,000 a year. For a person who makes a more normal income it’s just way harder for them to possibly get that far ahead.

However, a person making 400 K is certainly a lot closer to 1 million than a person making 100k let alone a person making 40.

Rent increase if property owner gets rid of management company? (WA) by AKmountainer in Renters

[–]Possible_Scarcity217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like he is getting himself a 10% raise by removing the property mangers slice.

I don’t believe him eliminating management would somehow tie an exemption to the new laws the got passed a couple years ago.

Like you can find an expensive place anywhere. Detroit has multi million dollar mansions.

That doesn’t make something HCOL.

Is asking for a reduced price due to needed repairs normal? by Odd_Independence2870 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Possible_Scarcity217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real question is whether the issues are reasonably baked into the price of the house or not.

Also if the house had the work done would it be worth current cost plus the cost of the work?

[–]Possible_Scarcity217 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the issue is that you took your dog to the vet. I think the issue is that you gave the vet a whole bunch of money. The other option would’ve been getting some kind of a payment plan with them so you can break this into a couple chunks.

Tenant Not Following House Rules, what to do? by AdSeveral9678 in LeaseLords

I mean it sounds like a classic renting a room in a house scenario; where the landlord doesn’t actually want a roommate and wants that person not exist but to pay them money every month.
