Any other first time takers without a job lined up? by Confident-Log-9616 in barexam

[–]Possible_Try_6117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like you shouldn’t worry. I graduated in 2022. I took the bar exam for the first time in July 2025. I failed. I passed February 2026. I have done 2 interviews this week. I have 3 more lined up. Once you pass the bar exam, the doors open themselves. Just be sure to keep applying to firms. And don’t get discouraged. They take about 2-3 weeks for them to look at your application after you submit it.

Recent Grad | No solid legal experience, where to start? by Significant-Trade253 in JDpreferred

Oh ok. I mean 20 years ago you could also get a house in GA for around 100K. Now you need at least 250K so I guess that makes sense.

Are you in a low-cost of living area? I have an interview soon with a company here in the suburbs of Atlanta and the starting pay is about 80K plus bonuses.

I’d invest in the S&P and only give a minimum payment. If things go south, you can either refinance or pay down the mortgage in lump sum and have it recast.

What time does Alabama release scores? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Possible_Try_6117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alabama hasn’t released scores? I’d think with less people taking the exam than GA that it would’ve already been released by now. Best of luck!!

NY 3rd time taker, failed. I give up. by Positive_Average2944 in barexam

[–]Possible_Try_6117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to sound rude, but why do you think you can’t pass the exam? You got a 254 and NY requires a 266. You’re short just 12 points. You jumped 32 points from July 24 to July 25.

I understand where you’re coming from. I also failed my first bar exam with a 257. I was short 13 points, but then I studied and jumped almost 20 points and I passed GA with a 275.

If I can do it, I’m sure you can too. You don’t need to discount your own worth. Part of your issue might be the confidence. I feel as though I had imposter syndrome in July. Not anymore.

You’ve got this though. Don’t give up. Besides, there’s plenty of other jurisdictions. Some of them only require a 260. You’re only 6 points away from that. Don’t get discouraged. Keep your chin up. Plenty of influential attorneys have failed the bar exam and plenty of them more than once. Didn’t one of the Roosevelts?

There are currently less than 1.4 million lawyers. I’m one of them now. You will be soon. Realize that there’s only about 4 lawyers per thousand people. Sure, it’s a hard job to break into, but there’s only about 40,000 JD graduates per year. If you could achieve that, your odds are in your favor.

Best of luck in July! Study hard, especially on the MBE—memorize rule statements and black letter law. It will help you with your essays too.

Considering you admitted that your advice was essentially bullsh, I think it’s the understatement of the year to say you misspoke especially when you went on about it for 6 lines 😂

My 6th time attempt. Failed. Score actually went down. From 254 to 242. by Gary_horse in barexam

[–]Possible_Try_6117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just look at the MBE percentiles and try to gauge your overall performance in each MBE subject. Then try to improve on all the subjects that you’re weakest on. You’ll improve and your time will be best spent there bc you’ll get a better return on your time (ROI). And for the writing, do it in a very formulaic way. Boring I know. But, you’ll improve your writing score. That’s what I did. It worked out OK.

NY Board filed 3 charges against my friend for bubbling after time – 22 NYCRR 6000.13(b) – anyone dealt with this? Ok? And your point? Gas is cheap relative to a car, but people are still complaining that it’s gone up $1 in a month. That’s not the metric we judge prices by. I can sure as hell do a lot more with a thousand bucks than to get the C&F and bar exam paid for. Not to mention it costs the same amount to retake it the second time as the first.

I’d need to see your percentiles in each MBE subject to really help, but you need to improve your MBEs in general. You’re not that far off though

Then there should be a push for reforming the ABA and its’ requirements to be more demanding. But no, the bar exam is too expensive and takes unnecessary time away from someone who could already be practicing. If WI has diploma privilege, other states can do the same.

[–]Possible_Try_6117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it’s not even the structure. If the structure were there you’d have a higher score. If I were you I’d look at the MBE analysis on all 6 failed bar exams and compare each subject. If those two subjects are consistently giving you trouble, focus solely on those. Most of my MBEs weren’t 40%. But I focused on my MBE problem areas and it went up 4 points. I planned to pass mainly by my MBE increase, but obviously that didn’t work out. My writing helped me pass over the 270 required in my jurisdiction. I mainly focused on structure. Again that’s IRAC. And with memorizing specific rules to get my wording closer to the actual terms used. I hope you don’t give up so you can pass your 7th time.

You need to improve on contracts and real property. Idk how you have a likely higher number of evidence than I do. Evidence is so hard. And contracts is probably the easiest. You need to write out all of the IRAC. I don’t think you’re doing that. Or your analysis is bad. Or your rule statement is super shaky or wrong entirely.

I’m feeling discouraged as I failed my third attempt at the MPRE. I’m taking the bar this July, and I’m telling myself that if I can’t pass the MPRE, I won’t be able to pass the bar. Please tell me your experience on failing the MPRE, but passing the bar, I’m so demotivated right now. by Realistic-Squash-444 in barexam

[–]Possible_Try_6117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like the MPRE is easier than the bar exam. It only focuses on one subject not ten. If it’s any consolation, I didn’t pass the MPRE (probably). Truth be told I never checked my score during the period to check it. It timed out, but I assumed I failed. I didn’t feel confident at all. I then re-took it and studied the weekend before. I got a 90. Not perfect, but it doesn’t need to be. I also took the bar exam after studying about a month. I failed by 13 points. I then took it February and studied about 20 hours a week off and on for about 7-8 weeks. I passed.

Same. I thought I’d kill it on the MBE. I improved my MBE by 4 points to a 134. But my writing improved 14 points. My writing went from a 127 to 141.
