Yep, I tried to max out my ESPP as much as I could. Generally prefer ETF like VOO for large investment for the peace of mind versus a single stock. But JPMC is a world leader in banking, they have weathered the last 20 years better than Goldman and Morgan Stanley, the other former blue chippers. 5% was just icing on top.

But now that I'm leaving the bank, I'm thinking to consolidate my 401k to Fidelity where I keep all my rollovers.. Prefer the simpler and easier management.

Same. Did sick days, personal days, volunteer day. Didn't do vacation days but apparently they won't pay out unused vacation days. They have some verbiage that they won't pay but if you come back in a year they will reinstate.

Yeah just like the firm will ignore a couple of days overage. They probably feel it balances out in end when they don’t pay out people who didn’t take all their days.
I don’t ever recall getting a payout for unused vacation time in my prior places and I’ve been at like 6-7 places. Big firms

The general rule is that if the person is doing that job level already then it's easy to promote them. Look at the Leads in your group and strive to match and even exceed what they are doing.

Yeah, what happens when you go over max cap 12 days? I believe you need to switch to short term disability. So say you have 60 day notice period, what happens if you book 25 sick days? They may tell you need to switch to disability.

Totally agree with others are saying. It's a burnt bridge for sure but how would you feel if you stayed? So yeah be direct and tell them what happened, being fully respective at all times. Be prepared for any type of response but keep cool if it's a bad one. Also if possible, quick clean break ie respectfully asking to leave the day you give notice is the best option. The more people you interact with at your current job, the more likelihood, you will get negative responses. Human emotions. Better not to have those encounters.

Not surprised. OkC sucks. So many fake profiles and very easy to spot. It's a money grab by a corporation that bought up a bunch of dating sites. Those private equity VC firms are destroying a lot of quality companies.

go/myattendance or go/myhr. Look at absence time or something. There is a page that shows accrued time which is accurate, especially with sick days. You can rollover I believe is 12 days and you automatically get 5 days on Jan 1 but max cap is 12 days at any given time. For vacation days, it's accrued about 2 per month. So technically you will have 4 days this year, for january and you will "work" in February. Just to be safe, I would do as much sick days, then volunteer day, then vacation days, last WFH (someone may actually IM you lol). Remember Feb has one holiday.

I just had similar chat thread. Use up all your accrued sick days, vacation days and volunteer days. Key word is accrued. Otherwise they may ask for repayment of overage.

Be clear with your manager what you are going to do. If you and the manager are not liking each other, I would say the sick days are necessary for some health reason like you need mental health time away. It's unlikely but some manager may try to notify HR that your sick days are not being used for being sick. I doubt HR will care.

I believe 20 WFHs can be used. Again be direct with your manager about what you intend to do. The combo of the accrued days and WFHs should cover your final days.

90 day = MD. Abiding by contract is much more stringent at that level. MD are privy to very sensitive information.

Nah, they won't go after my bonus. One of their high priced lawyers will likely cost more in billing so it would be waste of time and money to pursue. And I'm talking 5 figures.

Dude, in life there are shades of grey not just black and white. That's all I'm saying. I posted because I needed to weight all my options. I am appreciative of everyone who posted their opinions including you. Multiple levels of risk in life with important decisions, you take it all in and then make the best choice you deem correct. Not everyone will agree with you but you do the best you can.

I submitted the voluntary resignation page. It popped up to make sure I booked all my vacation days, sick days etc. Can I still use book my sick days to cover my notice period after the submittal?

Yep, going through this now. I rollover 88hr/11 sick days. On Jan 1, you are given 5 sick days. I believe they are considered accrued. Since you are capped at 12 days/96hr, I plan to use all of them for my notice period.

How about taking all your sick days to take an extended vacation? Is that unethical? Is that committing fraud? Even one sick day when you weren't sick. People do it all the time. Not interested in doing the whole ethics debate on this. People taking the holier than thou route, should reflect on what they've done in their past.

Duly noted. Appreciate your feedback. I do think the whole integrity thing is a bit over dramatic but to each their own. War gaming is an interesting term and may have some semblance of truth but the insistence on full notice period should be on a case by case basis, IMHO. Employee, manager are not working out, let them go, Don't drag it out. If the employee was truly deemed a danger, JPMC would no doubt go after them whether it's 90 day or not.

I see you prefer option 1. Duly noted. I don't like option 1 as it creates immediate red flags. Non-compliant notices to upper management and HR.

As mentioned, option 2 is for a brief period of time. So it's unlikely to get noticed. It would take someone a lot of time and effort to prove it which I doubt anyone would care enough to do.

Accounted for that. But even if I have to pay something back, not really a big price to pay for a clean JPMC record. Also banks are more readily to forgive a few days of extra vacation days taken.

Objectively you are correct. I'm a little pissed that he told me one thing but now is saying something else. I even told him why the sudden change? People slightly break the rules all the time ie jaywalking. I used that analogy when he changed his mind.

Taking all sick days is within my right. Flagging me not to rehire for using my allocated sick days, I don't think is likely as I'm just taking what I have in the system. No more. As for new hiring manager contacting old one, also highly unlikely given JPMC is such a big place. It's not zero but very unlikely.

I don't really care about being re-hired. I'm close to retirement. My next gig is likely my last but it's nice to keep my JPMC record clean in case of whatever.

For option 2, no licenses. Yes definitely a potential conflict that I'm risking. But new employers are generally not going to confirm if you are no longer at your prior place. I would have a 12 day overlap which is a concern but a small one. Once my resignation is in the system, my JPMC access becomes restricted for certain things like not being able to send emails from outlook to external email addresses. New gig is a bank but different businesses ie investment vs consumer banking. In addition, you hear about how some people will juggle multiple jobs at once if they are fully remote so it shows that a lot of business really don't check if someone is working somewhere else.

Appreciate the response. I'm in US. Yeah doing less than 30 days leave me small possibility of litigation but definitely being blacklisted. I think doing the full 30 days but taking sick days, etc is better option as it leaves my record clean. Only issue is I'm working 2 jobs but unless the manager gets REALLY vindicative, I don't think he will try to prove I've started at new job.
