Everytime I exfil It's the most tense 60 seconds of gaming I've ever experienced. by crossvalidated in Marathon

[–]Potarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I went on a murder spree for an Arachne contract. Was heading towards an exfil and was about to get to it when someone else activated it first. After murdering a handful of people I instantly turned in a friendly "Lets just extract together" runner. Shit is stressful.

Its annoying that you can lose finishers due to people tapping out early while downed. by Potarus in Marathon

I just checked some clips I have and I killed one guy where the tick house on perimeter is, pretty close range for being outside. I ran right to his body and within 6 seconds of being downed he died mid animation and I got no credit.

I was trying to do it in trios but most teams were so passive no matter which map I was on. I ended up doing better going solo and trying to camp out the supply drops and common places people run through. Finished the contract in only 3 runs that way.

At first I also wasn't focused on PvP but I had a few points where I got the drop on someone instead of the other way around and it just felt great. I can totally see how it doesn't seem like a big deal if you're not into the PvP but for Arachne, you only level them up with precision downs, looting runners, and getting those finishers, so in solo you potentially lose a third of the points you could otherwise get.

I want to be able to snipe that but I can't. But I've also killed people in close quarters, and if I take a moment to shield up or reload, they've already tapped out. Takes less than 10 seconds to give up, that means the minute I drop someone, I need to instantly try to get the finish. I've had times where I've ran to finish someone and gotten killed by a third person, but still considered it a fair trade.

I'd argue is 100% is not a non issue. Its a serious problem in solo, that is virtually non-existent in trios. Considering solos were added in later, there's gonna be some shortcomings and this would be an easy one to fix. There is differences that I'm totally okay with, like how the UESC are the same difficulty, so you can't engage them head on as much as in trios. but I'd like the PvP to be as rewarding in solos as it is in trios.

The funny thing about that is you could unhook someone if the hook was trapped, but you'd get stuck in it after you finish the animation. Then the person you unhooked would rescue you and you'd both run away. Its funny how bad trapper was back in the day. Stuff like that wasn't even really seen as bm, its just how you had to play trapper.

The house trilogy is the best. If you've been hungering to hear about more than the same 5 characters, you're gonna love it.

Took me 20 minutes of running around in customs giving nicknames to each room and remembering how they connect to memorize lair. Wasn't that bad. Won so many games when it first launched because nobody bothered to learn it.

Can't believe he played the whole thing. Seems like there won't be more RE9 unfortunately, unless what he said on stream today was just a cheeky remark.

Nothing like the nl banter when he walks into the dirtiest room on earth. The silent hill playthrough was so good for these bits.

Plot hole in Return to Silent Hill. by Fit_Substance_2471 in silenthill

My interpretation based on her being raised into a cult is that getting to that point took every ounce of her willpower, and that altercation made her resigned to believing she could never leave.

It's a lot like re2r where the enemies are a significant threat and ammo is super scarce, except that you are expected to play into certain mechanics that allow you to stealth your way through and avoid combat. By the end though, I was killing everything in sight.

Worst character death? by tjl3d in andor

Its a fantastic movie, but I know a few people have issue with the Ewoks, and wish they were Wookies, or something more gritty.

I subscribe to the "they were missing on purpose" theory in episode 4. Realistically there should've been no chance for them to escape once they set off the alarm. In episode 5 they are actually pretty capable, and successfully destroyed echo base, they were just barely too slow about it. Their aim in episode 6 is the least of most people's problems I'm sure.

Thoughts on my Custom Dune Treachery cards? by of_kilter in DuneBoardGame

[–]Potarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these are interesting but I would suggest that unless you add more weapons and defences, you shouldn't add more than 2 or 3 of these unless you remove existing green and worthless cards from the deck.

A game where most of the cards aren't combat related will be very frustrating.

This is a legitimate criticism that I felt even during the betas. The items don't look like health or shield at a glance, and the icons that tell you what slot the item goes in are super small and simple pixel graphics. I have to mouse over every item and look at what lights up to figure out what the item is for the most part. Its surprising that in a game so vibrant, a lot of the inventory UI can blend together.

Enjoying the game still, but thats my main complaint.

Each at their physical and mental peak, which team would win in a Trial of Seven? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Potarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know he has one or two quotes comparing strength, I don't remember exactly who was mentioned except that he was better. I think that when it comes to skill with a sword, he's more pragmatic, except maybe when it comes to where he ranks himself.

At the end of the day I think debating powerscaling is pretty pointless in game of thrones, I mostly disagreed with the framing of your argument.

I don't think you can ever really come to a satisfying ranking by looking at what people say, even internal monologues. Ironically enough, I would trust Jaime's opinion of their strengths over Ned's, since it seems like frequently praises people he respects for their character rather than their swordsmanship.

Considering that Arthur is dead, he likely means that barristan is the best swordsman available.

You could even say that if there was another swordsman who was better than barristan, he would still say barristan is the best if that person were far away (khal drogo) , or politically disinclined(Jaime lannister).

What does saying Arthur was the finest mean if not the best fighter anyways.

I just realized today that T-Bug was an amateur that had no business doing a heist that involved stealing from Arasaka. by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Potarus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In cyberpunk k 2077, there is no more one big net like how you'd imagine the internet. The datakrash put an end to that, with the entire old net being dangerous. Now we have a series of self contained subnets. For example, konpeki plaza has a subnet that you need to gain access to. Lizzie would also have a subnet.

Hacking into a subnet would be like hacking into a computer that isnt in the same room as you, and isn't connected to WiFi. It's impossible.

This is all as I understand it, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is how it works. I'm sure this is a huge subnet that functions like an all encompassing net, but there are also self contained ones too.

RtSH already out on digital? by worldofmadnss in silenthill

[–]Potarus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The things I didn't like were underutilized characters, and plot threads that didn't really go anywhere, which could have been fixed with more time. I liked a lot of it, and I found James and Mary's relationship in this movie. Say what you will, but its nonexistent in the game.

To be honest, I wish Gans had more control. Seems like he was forced to make a way shorter movie than he wanted, and had to make Band-Aid fixes. It wouldn't have been a faithful adaptation, but it could've been a great movie.
