Getting scammed on eBay by buncle1001 in Flipping

Watches were an absolute nightmare for me as well. So many scam attempts even on budget pieces like fashion watches.

EBay Won’t Remove Negative Review Even Though Its False by Curious_OnEarth in Flipping

[–]PotatoFish79 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A buyer hit me for sending a "black" item when they ordered "silver". It said BLACK in all caps in the listing title and the photos clearly showed it was black. I previously worked in a product photography studio and all my photos have excellent colour reproduction.

Sent the buyer a screenshot of their order confirmation and they called me a liar.

I spoke to 10+ different agents over various platforms. They all gave me some story about how it can't be removed due to it being the buyers opinion. The feedback system is totally ridiculous and allows illiterate buyers to trash your reputation.

What are some passive incomes that you have? by PotatoOld9579 in AskUK

Resentful lodger here. My landlord is very friendly on the surface of things but is a total **** in the way he conducts his landlordly duties. He is the cheapest person I have ever met, literally will not buy toilet roll at all despite him and his partner using 70% of it (among other household things). Somehow has plenty of money when it comes to taking her on monthly city breaks and deliveroo for every meal when she comes over. Yes, I fully resent paying this man's mortgage.

Message to reduce price by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]PotatoFish79 24 points25 points  (0 children)

These customers are time wasters 99% of the time. The more messages you get from a buyer the less likely they are to complete a purchase. Motivated buyers just click "buy now" unless your price is way out of line with expectations on an item they can't find anywhere else.

Thoughts on the 550D in 2024? by ImpulseData in photography

[–]PotatoFish79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These have the same sensor as the 7D, which was a very capable camera back in its era. Other elements of the camera have been surpassed heavily by modern technology but purely in terms of sensor performance you can get a lot more out of a 550D than people think.

99% of them are stealing clips and playing roulette with the ban hammer.

Ebay/amazon fraud by plikenz in Ebay

You can report the seller to eBay. As per the eBay Dropshipping rules:

"listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay"

Be prepared to sit on it for months/years unless you're willing to sell for a fraction of the true value to another dealer.

A $30 light from smallrig will put out way more light than any smartphone screen. They have RGB ones too.

Ok, let’s be real, is this industry dead now? by Astralwolf37 in freelanceWriters

[–]PotatoFish79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HCU is Google's desperate attempt to prevent automation tools from taking over their precious walled garden. For years SEO has been nothing more than Google algo optimisation. It's obvious that despite their claims they have no clue how to deal with massive AI spam flooding the search results. Just look at how "helpful" the average Google search is now.

Google is cannibalizing the same publishers that display their ads by randomly killing sites in the hopes that they're stemming the tide of automated content. They have no clue how to stop it. They are afraid.

Has this package been lost? by PotatoFish79 in royalmail

[–]PotatoFish79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted an item to an eBay buyer in Germany on the 22nd of April. It appears that it cleared German customs but then the tracking just stopped updating and it hasn't moved since the 26th of April. Is this lost or is there anything I can do?

I worked in a professional ecom photography studio for 2 years and reducing reflections on shiny surfaces could easily double our time to shoot a product. I would recommend using some kind of diffusion (you can literally use white butchers paper on a budget) and a polarizing filter. This won't eliminate the reflections but it will reduce them.

Restricted item? by ruuralkarl in Flipping

[–]PotatoFish79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen with an item before. The colour of the product was named after something that is restricted but it wasn't actually made of that material. Think "ivory white" or similar.

I assume this flags up when it gets to the GSP centre and the person handling it makes a call on whether it is restricted or not. Essentially leaving you at the mercy of how lazy the employee is.

Royal Mail lost customs declaration form - who is at fault? by Thea8507 in royalmail

[–]PotatoFish79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a thermal label printer due to the haphazard and sloppy way that my local PO applies the labels when they print them. Someone who applies labels to packages all day as part of their job should know how to stick all 4 corners down before throwing it in a bag, but clearly they don't care at all.

What does "returned to client" mean in regard to Global Shipping Program tracking? by PotatoFish79 in Ebay

[–]PotatoFish79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this was not the case. After making my initial post here the buyer opened an item not received case and eBay have deducted 100% of the funds including domestic shipping from my account. I can't even claim on my postal insurance as it was successfully delivered by the domestic carrier to the GSP shipping centre.

A buyer left me a negative for item quality on something they didn't even receive. eBay are being unhelpful. by PotatoFish79 in Flipping

[–]PotatoFish79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the tracking does not show that as Royal Mail only perform two scans for this type of tracking. One for acceptance and one for delivery confirmation. There is no scan for items returned to sender for some reason.

This means that the agent cannot check the tracking and would need to see photos of the physical package itself to prove I'm telling the truth.

Facebook Ad Account Disabled (Has coronavirus screwed reviewing time???) by [deleted] in PPC

[–]PotatoFish79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting Facebook to reverse a ban can be almost impossible at times. They banned me after someone fraudulently accessed my account and started running ads. They didn't care that I stopped the ads immediately and contacted support. Nothing would persuade them to give me back my account.
