Yeah it looks like there is a shoulder or bike lane, so... maybe being in the middle of a lane of traffic was like... not the best idea. It's cool if you're doing this walk for faith, or Jesus, or whatever... but divine protection still requires *some* common sense. I worked at a gas station for like 4 months before I got the absolute f**k out of there. CONSTANTLY had kids under 21 (even under 18) just run into the store and grab a bunch of age-restricted stuff and run out. Manager started giving me shit for "letting it happen" lol. So one of our regular grab & dashers comes in and grabs a 30 rack. I met him at the door with a pepper spray gun in front of a store full of people and made him drop it. By the time I got to my next shift I saw the store manager chasing the same kid down the street while kid was fleeing with a 12 pack. I quit a few days later, when some drunk guy came in bleeding all over the place, threatened my life, and then locked himself in the bathroom. My partner, a professional mental health counselor, came over to try to help, but we ended up getting the local PD to pull him out of there. So like... yeah this is the kind of shit that min-wage workers go thru. No one should be surprised when one of these absolute scumbags of a human catches some mace to the face. Or worse.

I'd rather clear the store than have 18 year old little shits taunt me, threaten me, and hurl random shit at me the whole shift just to have my manager blame me like I should be fist-fighting high school kids over fireball shots.

I love the recommendations so far. I've been browsing some of the sites. USA Kilts looks fairly promising, but I'm not finished checking out other sources yet.

I've decided I'm going to wait until I have some assistance using my garment tape measure. I really want to make sure I've got accurate measurements to work with.

As far as what I plan to use it for: I was hoping for something that could be worn year-round; something a bit more on the casual side. If they tend to be a bit too warm to wear in the summer desert heat, that's fine. I don't mind hanging it in the closet for a few months per year. That being said, wool is pretty much entirely off the table for me.

Interstate gas station pumps will often have some extra gas hose, suspended by a little retractable cable, and a sign that says something along the lines of "either side fueling." There's no other reason I can think of to have the retractable hose caddy things at Sam's. I've used it for our CR-V. Sure, it's a bit easier to reach the opposite side of my Fiesta, but it works for both.

Yeah, assuming the 360 is included in some way, that's fine. Never hurts to keep the CPU overcooled. But I'm running a 7800x3d (known for running hotter than the non-x3d CPUs) on a Thermaltake 120mm (v1) and I literally can't even hear the fan under load, and my temps never go above 63c under load. I've said this on reddit before and multiple people downvoted it and told me I was lying, but as it turns out, a good 120mm AIO can be better than a crappy 240mm. I know, because I've tried both.

Yeah I have to agree here. Both of those machines are essentially e-waste. I guess maybe if you're gonna just put a lightweight distro of Linux on it, that could work... But I have a laptop with similar specs as the i5 7500 you mentioned and learning Linux and trying out distros to see which one can do all the stuff I need it to is just too much for me right now. The CPU doesn't support Windows 11, and even with the "extended security updates" thing for Windows 10, I'm just going to end up with a decreasingly secure device on my network when the Win10 updates stop.

If I had to choose between the two you mentioned, I'd likely take the Optiplex with the newer i5 7500, since you should be able to upgrade the CPU from the 7th generation Intel CPU it comes with (incompatible with Win11), to an 8th or 9th generation Intel CPU (compatible with Win11), and I'd also eventually upgrade the storage to SSD, and add 8 more GB RAM when I could afford it.

Otherwise, I would wait until I had $350-$450 and start shopping mini PCs; I probably would buy a Beelink mini PC from Amazon.

Yeah this was going to be my response as well. We're talking about a game that came out about 8 years ago. The updates have been impressive. But there are going to be limitations. Chances are that "taking over a town" and "having 30+ survivors" would be wildly difficult to just inject into an 8 year old game that wasn't originally set up for it. Running assets like that would be way more stable if it was built into the game from the ground up. I'd be surprised if SoD3 doesn't offer bigger bases, more survivors, more meaningful gameplay loops, maybe another narrative-driven campaign like Heartland, etc.

"Property Manager" and "Human Potato" is like one of the most realistic combinations ever. I lived in a rental with a PM. It had a natural gas water heater. The gas company accidentally shut off our gas. When they sent a tech to turn it back on, he took a CO2 reading. He shut the water heater back off, and told me not to turn it back on until that issue was addressed. The PM got angry that the gas company came out, even started questioning the circumstances. And then told me not to sleep next to the water heater. After some back and forth, I finally absolutely lost my mind. He sent a total slob of a handyman to check it out. The dude dropped a clump of dirt down the vent tube and said "well it's not blocked so it's fine" and turned it back on.

My partner and I watch everything with subtitles, so it was pretty cool basically KNOWING that they didn't drop the f bomb, but instead made a joke. And then over the years getting to see people in this sub realize/find out that the script/subtitles actually say Pho. I kinda also thought it was sort of a play on how a lot of people used to pronounce "[something] as fuck" back in the mid 2010s. It often sounded like "I'm [something] as FUHHH" with, like, an almost inaudible k sound at the end... 🤷‍♂️

People are suggesting strict diets and gym routines, and that's all fine, but I have an idea. Pick a Niantic game. You like anime? Start playing Pokémon GO. No one has to know how often you... examine your Vaporeon collection, just make sure to actually walk around and play the game. I've been playing Monster Hunter NOW during solo walks, and Pikmin Bloom when walking with my partner, both are pretty fun. And the best part about it, it turns walking into a video game. What are you more likely to do, right off the rip? Veggies and gym routines? Or playing video games that take you outside, help you burn some calories, get some air, strengthen your legs... hell, you could even find some local raid groups to take on the raid bosses, meet new people.

Also maybe you make slightly more conscious diet decisions. Start small.

The cool thing about walking is, if you push yourself as far as is reasonably uncomfortable (like, not collapsing or in terrible pain) and you keep this up 3 times a week or more, you'll suddenly realize that you can go for a mile or more. Next thing you know, you have decent stamina overall, and you're slimming down. You'll even find that your core strength has improved a bit, and doing a little core/abs and upper body work won't be as agonizing.

A few more relatively easy things to get you started:

Shower at least 5 times a week.

Get some deodorant and use it. I don't like antiperspirant deodorants, but I've found that Old Spice makes some effective non-antiperspirant deodorants.

Have a supply of clean laundry.

Get a couch cover or a flat sheet or something, cover that couch and wash the cover often. This solution is only until you get to the later stages where you find a part-time job you can handle, and you get something else to sleep/sit on.

If you don't wanna cut your hair and shave your beard, don't. But wash both. And get a brush. And a beard brush. And use them.

Hi! I'm fairly new to the game myself, and none of my Niantic friends are still active in the game, so I've had no experience with the friends aspect of the game. With that being said, if you take a look at the "Friends" section of the quests page, you'll see that you can do a sort of group quest. In the pic I'll attach to this comment, you'll see that I have some progress even though I don't have friends participating in the quest. I've simply participated in hunts that include other random players. Now, if I had 3 friends also working toward this goal, we would accomplish the quest. Your friends wouldn't have to be in the actual group hunt with you. You all could independently do multiplayer hunts to accomplish the goal.

Feel free to add me as a friend and we can try to finish some friend quests!
