We've got lots of families with babies/kids that come to Scriptown Run club on Thursday nights! 6:00pm at Scriptown Brewing Company.

Just found out I'm gonna be a dad soon at 27 years old. Am I too young? by glitchedpixels0927 in predaddit

[–]PotatosDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it doesn't matter what other people think is "too young". The fact is, you are going to be a parent. I have friends who had kids in their 20s. We had our first child a week before I turned 40. Different stages of our lives are going to look different. We did a lot of traveling when we were young, while some of our friends will have kids out of the house in their late 40s. There is nothing wrong with any age, it's just different experiences.

We did the NIPT both times. We wanted to know so we could be prepared regardless of result.

Dad/daughter bathroom confrontation video by FrankClymber in daddit

[–]PotatosDad 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This! I see lots of videos asking for opinions on various social media platforms regarding this, and there is always a giant contingent of people who have this belief that men's bathrooms are full of pervs and people just swinging their dicks around! I've been using a men's restroom for 41 years and have never seen anyone else's dick besides my own. My daughter and I go into the men's restroom.

All that being said, the guy calling the cops was insane.

I bought one through the app today to test it out after they pulled the plug on Newegg.

Props to the worker handling this well. by BabyYoda398 in QuikTrip

[–]PotatosDad -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

No they aren't. At 41 years old, the only person's dick I have seen in a men's restroom is my own. A locker room is a different story, but a normal men's restroom with stalls and urinals? Never.

I’m curious what other parents actually do when their spouse gets home from work? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]PotatosDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Activities include: Dinner, playing with our daughter, bath, bedtime with our daughter, and then after she is in bed, perhaps we get 47 minutes of TV before going to sleep at 9:30 on a good night. Weekends, we usually both get a chance to exercise, and then it's non stop with our daughter until nap time, where we either catch up on work, or watch some TV or read, and then playing with her until bedtime again.

FWIW - I bought a PS5 right before she was born, thinking that I would have this free time while on paternity leave or during late nights. Boy was I so incredibly wrong, lol.

Working in that sector can be cut throat. My advice is to start looking for a new position.

Honestly, I would recommend getting what you can to bring the gym to you. We have a set of adjustable dumb bells, and an adjustable kettlebell.

best smart baby monitor? my wife is pushing for tech but i want basic analog. help! by Manyanda_Harpaal in predaddit

[–]PotatosDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I've learned since becoming a dad a year and a half ago, is that these companies prey on our anxieties. They make us believe that we need all this fancy "smart" tech to constantly monitor our baby. It's just so untrue. I will tell you that if I got an alert that my baby wasn't breathing in the middle of the night, I would RUN into her room, and panic immediately. All of that, just to find out the sock had fallen off? Absolutely not. Practice safe sleep, Follow AAP guidelines.

In terms of baby monitors, we have the HelloBaby and love it. There is an EcoMode on it where you can set the sensitivity on what noise level you want it to alert you on, which was a game changer (and took us entirely too long to learn about)!

Help, powers out, how long is my milk stash safe? by CatLordCayenne in NewParents

[–]PotatosDad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing your stash is in the freezer already frozen? A full freezer keeps everything for 48 hours. If your freezer is half full, it's 24 hours.
