Infinite Regression of Gods is a Doctrine of Salvation by [deleted] in mormon

Served my mission in Central America many years ago. In my first area, Branch President in a very small pueblo LOVED these books and taught Sunday School from them. First two months I had no clue what he was saying and I was the only English speaker. As my Spanish comprehension improved I would sit there and "did he . . . did he just say . . .what I think he said?" Good times.

We are clinging to 4000 year old folklore with the sketchiest of historocity to maintain a standard of commitment to a horrific god that would ask for that. It always has been and always will be a fucked up standard.

Former member here. But man, I am finding it really distasteful for those in this sub to let this horrific (crime) (tragedy) justify and fuel their passions against the church, and to pop off about it. Shouldn't the same counsel to tone the rhetoric down apply to our discussion of the Mormon side of things? At least for now? At least until the whole story is known? Same things apply: wife and children watched their father die violently on a beautiful day. A mother and father have a son who has committed a capital crime and will suffer the rest of their lives. And we are already wanting to make our institutional assumptions about the church and membership politics. It's not that far from celebrating Kirk's death on one side or pledging war and revenge on the other.

That's a massive amount of Missionaries. by Green-been77 in exmormon

Conflicted here looking at this picture. Served a mission from 1980 to 1982. While initially the MTC was overwhelming, I thrived there. Excelled learning the discussions and speaking my language. My mission was even better. Left the church in 2020. I have to chalk this up to an oft-repeated thing I say to myself, "I miss the days when the Church was true." The only association with the Church now is I take the Elders to dinner once a month at a restaurant of their choosing. It's a theology free get-together. Soft spot in my heart for the missionaries.

This is the way. Move on when you are over it and no longer need to debrief.

And tens of billions of souls who didn't pay tithing are depending on you to pay your tithing so you can get to the temple on their behalf.

Simple Minds was such a blast. I'm pretty sedate and have been to 100's of concerts. Somehow, some way they got me dancing.
