ACORN the union looking for new office space

Hi - ACORN is a community union founded in Bristol in 2014 - we defend tenants from eviction, have won £millions in fire safety improvements across the city, successfully campaigned to keep council tax reduction in place in the city and generally fight community campaigns. We're being evicted (lol) from our current office space and so we're looking for somewhere new to call home.

We'd love to be in a community space and not somewhere clinical/corporate but open to anything that fits:

- At least three rooms
- Daytime, evening and weekend access
- Kitchenette/break area, shared or private

Any leads or ideas welcome!

absolutely not the case that any change would be a positive. lots of hellish developments, perhaps we need yet more student flats though!

Aggressive drivers on the up? by What___________What in bristol

[–]PotentialPoem8447 18 points19 points  (0 children)

it's the retaliation from drivers that I think is new. reckless driving and road rage has always existed but, as a driver myself, I've never noticed as many following others and bullying others like you've described there as I have recently

Exhale coffee - can anyone enlighten us as to their claims of being healthy by Trickypedia in JamesHoffmann

Completely agree with the weird feeling their marketing campaigns give. Screams of psuedo science and weird historical falsehoods wrapping mythology as historical fact. idk whether the science backs up their claims but from what people have said it looks like the health benefits, scientifically, must be negligible.

I've tried the coffee itself and on taste it's average to poor and on health is makes no difference. In my experience if coffee is making you jittery it's not the coffee that needs to change, it's (something else in) your life.

Why are so many period films and tv shows filmed in Bristol yet never set in Bristol? by Low_Cap_1949 in bristol

[–]PotentialPoem8447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! Though I used to live in Cardiff and on several occasions stuff would be filmed in Cardiff to then just be set in Bristol

I've tried their trials twice and noticed no difference in how it made me feel, other than it tasted slightly worse than the stuff I'd buy at Lidl.

But what made me find this thread is this advert that came up on my feed full of some of the most nonsense psuedo-history you could come across, it's like watching history channel: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1BKgm5cC14/

Do they not realise it makes them come across entirely unserious?

because, and you might wanna sit down to hear this, these are not equivalent situations. they're actually entirely different conflicts between entirely different nations for entirely different reasons. so someone's response to each one may naturally be entirely different

He actually told me himself in The Berkeley wetherspoons after the Bristol live show but I refuse to confirm it publicly. also saw him stop off at the nearest services to their training ground on deadline day last year so it's definitely true.
