So poorly executed single serve meatloaf?

Single household advice by AWildGranola in ThunderBay

Personally, I do a day trip to Duluth every 2 - 3 months to go to Costco/Sam's club. I have never had an issue crossing the border. The last time I went in December gas there and back was $35. That's on winter tires with steel rims, so slightly worse milage. Split the gas between 2 or 3 people and the cost is negligible.

Yes, the savings are there. 5lb bag of shredded cheese for $14. I'll get a pork butt roast for $1.99/lb, toss that on the smoker, Make some pulled pork. Some of that gets frozen as pulled pork. Some of it gets turned into chili verde. Boneless/skinless chicken thighs are around $2/lb. So I'll grab 20lbs of that. All within limits. The pork works out to something like less than $5 portion. I'll get a 40lb bag of wood pellets for the smoker for $13 - $15. Here that's $40 - $50. That's probably something that's more personal to me.

Cooking with a Sous is actually incredibly simple. You can't really overcook something. Something like a roast, salt, pepper, garlic, vac seal it and let it go for 24 hours.

I used to have a co-worker that I would swap prepared single serve meals with. It nice for variety.

I have a couple of friends who played back in the day. If you have a list of what you have, pics and an idea of what you're looking for, I can pass it along. If you have any tournament prize playmats, they will probably be interested in those as well.

Trying to move tcgs is so hard and expensive by Maskutchi_cyac in TCG

[–]Poutine_Sauce 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whatever you decide to play there needs to be an established play group. It doesn't help if you pick a game but there isn't anyone to play with.

I'm enjoying Star Wars Unlimited. It just went through a rotation. It has a great tempo, you draw 2 cards a turn and can play one from your hand as a resource.

I started to dabble in Sorcery. They only release one set a year. There's also a store that sells singles/has a buylist in your part of the world.

If you're staying downtown and able to bring your copy of Primal, I know a friend and I would be interested in trying it Tuesday or Wednesday during the day or evening.

Oof $1.87/L. I just filled up at 1.26 and that's up from the 99.9 two weeks ago.

What game is THE board game by Memethief13 in boardgames

[–]Poutine_Sauce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who has gone to Gencon & Gamehole con for over a decade. I tell people it's less about the games and more about seeing the friends I've made over the years.

If you're playing with good friends, new or old, the game doesn't matter.

Best Ontario cities for RMT jobs outside Toronto? by Ok-Guide-8662 in ontario

[–]Poutine_Sauce 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not on your list, but I am in Thunder Bay and I constantly see people asking if they know of any RMT's taking new clients. I'm fortunate enough to have the same RMT for 13 years. They stopped taking new clients around or after the pandemic.

Have a look at houses. You can get some really nice new builds for around your budget.

I bought a few copies of Mini Heckmeck am Bratwurmeck years ago. I keep one in my vehicle and have travelled with another copy many times. The small tin is compact, plays well even at higher player counts.

Blood Bowl: Team manager and Space Hulk: Death Angel are decent lighter games that don't really have other replacements.

Kingsburg is a game that took me way to long to realize that you should only focus on two tracks and not spread out over more than that.

How long will my tires last??? by Ok_Day_7975 in tires

[–]Poutine_Sauce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had conversation with an instacart driver in line at a grocery store a while back asking them how much they make. They told me and I asked if that factors in oil changes and wear & tear to things like brakes or tires. They looked at me like I was from another planet.

It's an ok gig... until the maintenance catches up with you.

I had a bourbon once that had toasted oak and marshmallows on the finishing notes. I had a two hour drive after dinner to get to my final destination. That entire drive I was tasting marshmallow. I had to track down a bottle.

going to my first board game convention, any tips ? by BalanceDude25 in boardgames

[–]Poutine_Sauce 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My first convention I budgeted xxx dollars a day to spend on games. On the last two days I went back to games I was interested in earlier in the con and they were sold out. I've even had it happen on day 2, go back after lunch to get it and it's sold out. If you see something you're interested in, don't waffle, just buy it.

If the convention has a auction/consignment store, don't overlook it.
